KaysMommy got a reaction from FluffyChix in What vitamins and supplements do you still take?
I am 8 years out, and I am just wondering what Vitamins you all still take. I currently take Bariatric Fusion chewable Multivitamins, Iron gluconate, D3, B12 injections, and psyllium husks.

I had to have an iron infusion a couple years ago, my surgeon says I don’t absorb iron sulfate anymore. So dealing with a normal MD was not helping my iron rise.

I also have a Vitamin D deficiency and B12 also. Another problem I’ve had is with my Fiber intake, so the only thing that helps me is the psyllium. My labs are finally where they need to be.

I’ve just been wondering where others are at and what is still important. I’m 8 years out of RNY and finally feel like I’ve figured it out for my body.

I love the white pants. I am so scared of white. I think it looks so classy, but I’m afraid to get it dirty. I am the one who accidentally writes on myself, or spills something. Maybe one day I’ll get up the nerve.

I know exactly what you are going through. 6 years out I had regained nearly 60 pounds. I was so unhappy with myself. I let life struggles, and being busy affect how I ate. About a year ago I started watching what I ate, not yet logging food again, but just making better choices. On June 18th I was back down to 168 but still so upset I was still 20 pounds from the goal I originally set out to be at, and wanted to be there so bad.

Here is what I did. I did a total reset to when I started on real food after the puréed stage. I started logging everything, anything that goes into my mouth gets logged. I concreted on Protein and veggies, and started my Vitamins again. I made protein my priority again, made sure I got at least 60 grams a day. I also stared drinking a gallon of Water a day. Also one of my meals a day, everyday is a Protein Shake. I am now below the 145 that was always my main goal. I am now at 143.6 and couldn’t feel better. I know it has to do with the protein I get in everyday now. No carbs go into my body. My vitamins , help me feel healthy. I don’t get dehydrated. The girls at work are so used to my gallon water jug I bring into work with me, and my daily lunch protein shake mixing. Even my CEO and CMO mentioned in a meeting this week about my water jug, and had only great things to say about it.

The thing is, we may have regained, but we still have this amazing tool that can work for us if we want it to. I mean if I tried to lose over 20 pounds in 2.5 months before WLS, it never would have happened.

Good luck with everything. I know life has stresses in it. We all have them. I changed my obsession with stress eating to obsessive food logging, and healthy eating. I also try to walk on my lunch. That one hour a day is my only me time when I’m not a mom, a wife, a professional, a daughter. You’ve got this, you just have to grab it. It’s great to have the support here, and keeps us in the right head space.

It was hard at first. I agree I still have “fat” brain. I always wanted to wear knee high boots, I always wanted to be able to fit them over my chunky legs. I experimented “a lot”. I’ve also never tucked in shirts, until now. I’m 8 years out and only now getting comfortable with it. It’s hard to find our new selfs. I’m cleaning out my closet right now. I found a size 6 dress I wore 7 years ago when I first lost all my weight. My sister-in-law helped me pick it out for her baby shower, she is super stylish, and she knew I needed help at first, and helped me a lot. Of course I never fit into it again, until now that I’m finally back on track. I can wait to finally be able to wear it again.

I just went to my 8 year check up, and my doctor still wants me to use them. I just can’t get my Protein in without at least a shake a day. I had a really busy day at work today and I couldn’t get my normal snacking on so I’m drinking a protein 2o Water right now to make up for it. Usually I snack on cheese sticks, and turkey sticks. They sell the packs with the cheese sticks at Walmart. I eat a lot of beef Jerky, foster farms started selling little pack of cubed chicken in different flavors. Here are some pictures of my usual Snacks that help a lot.

    Hi everyone,
I just want to say this has been quite the amazing journey thus far. December 18th 2018 I went into my surgery at 285 pounds. 8 1/2 months ago was the biggest decision and biggest step I ever took towards changing my life. For the past 8 years I was a very happy and unhealthy person. Gradually becoming more and more obese by the day. I truly thank my family to opening up my eyes as to how unhappy and unhealthy I was. I first went into my doctors office at a very unhappy and unhealthy 304 pounds. My pre-op diet of Protein Shakes for 2 weeks helped me get down to 285 just in time for my surgery. I am now today 167 pounds as of this morning. I have not been in the 160's since my teens and I am now 27. I still want to lose another 37 pounds to reach my goal weight of 130 due to my height. But the sky is the limit baby!! I just want you all to know post op and pre op that I wish you all good luck and hope you had and have as much success as I did so far. Hugs to you all!!!
