  1. I am sitting here, trying to slowly eat my Jello after swallowing Soup waaaayyy too fast. I finally feel up to more liquids since I kinda skipped lunch. I'm all calm, doggie laying her head on me. All of a sudden, she pops her head up and just stares at my stomach. I have been having air bubble coming from my stomach as I slowly eat some liquids. They are making her head vibrate and she doesn't like it. The worst part, for her? She can hear them too. I think it is the funniest thing ever. She is starting to stop laying her head on my stomach adn more on my legs. Has anyone else had this problem with almost non stop bubble while eating anything? Or drinking?

    stomach "growlies"

Kelly, exactly. I get it in the tummy as well as the throat. It tickle but is annoying. I wonder if it will go away when i go to more solids. I take a pill for stomach acids, it doesn't do very much, but rid me of pain when I wake up and before dinner.

Red Velvet Gang- How Ya Doing?

I'm on day 7, and still have some pain. No where near as bad as the first few days. I have been lucky and have finally started being able to walk around. I think it is because I hate standing still. Those few days where it hurt to move drove me batty. The only thing good out of it was that I was able to sleep. I think I am ready to go back to work after Memorial Day. I am down 9-10lbs and love it. I want to lose more soon. I am trying really hard on my liquids, dreaming about the mushies. I was told to aim for 3 cups, 24 ozs of Protein shakes daily. I think that puts me at about 60 g of protein. I can usually do about 2.5 cups. then I get sick. I also have to drink a minimum of 3 cups of other liquids. I have been able to do that part no problem. I just stretch it out. My son looked at me yesterday and kept telling me, and others as I was getting him from school, my mommy is getting skinnier. I loved it. When I went to the school to get him, as I work there too, my coworkers were telling me that I looked great. My principal asked me if I really should be up driving and walking. She thought I was nuts to be up and moving, lol. Anyway, I am excited and wanting to dance for making it this far. One week down, a lifetime to go.
  4. Happy Dance!! Weighed myself for the first time on a good scale....I went from 223 the day of surgery, the 19th, to 214 yesterday, the 25th. I go tomorrow, I wonder what the official official weight will be?!

    Post OP pain

I have something like that on the right side right at edge of the rib cage. Mine also happens to come with some swelling. The pain is going away, but it is near 2 incisions. I go to the dr tomorrow for my follow up, so we will see what it is. I hope it is like yours and just temporary pain and swelling. oh I am on day 7, too

Why must I finish it? WHY????

I have found putting the majority away. I also consider the fact right now, I am still on liquids. I went to my mom's house last night and drained some soup to get the broth. She saw me eating/drinking. I stopped and had a lot left. Her first question was if I got enough. i had to tell her that I had found my limits the other day and wasn't going to push it. Luckily when I have jello, I have an 11 yr old who will finish it for me. I look to him when I go onto other foods to finish what I don't. I also don't worry about him food wise since he is in that "I will eat anything and everything.....I'm starving....oh look, I grew another 2 inches" stage. It is easier to throw out those last few bites than to make yourself sick. If it is enough to save, then save it. If it isn't don't stress, just toss.

Down 19 lbs my first week

I weighed myself 3 days prior, was 227. Day of I was 223. i went to my moms this afternoon and was 214. I look at that as 9-10 lbs. I am on day 6 and am pretty happy with that amount. Except for the re-hospitalization. congrats!!

    Day 15 Post Op

I go see the surgeon tomorrow and am starting to get anxious like you are Michelle. I am afraid she will say that I need to stay on liquids longer than originally planned. I am supposed to go to mushies on Tuesday, perfect for when I go back to work. She might also tell me I can't go back to work. I am really not emotional, maybe because I take mood meds. I am just anxious. I have a tendency to overthink. i love watching and reading what you and meggip post because I get a lot of current feelings so I kinda know what to plan for. So good luck with the dr and the emotions. They are are to overcome, but you seem like an up beat person and you can do it!
  9. Finally found out my limits. They hurt!

  10. Just wanted to say that I had my surgery on Thursday and got home today. Besides having 7 new holes in my stomach, everything went well. i also got to catch up on my sleep that I had been missing. Now the fun begins, as I am off solids until June 10. I can do it.

    I'm Done!!

Thanks everyone!! Besides pain from one of the incisions and overall muscle pain, life is good. i woke up this am with NO gas pain. i guess day 5 really is the turn around day. Good thing because I have work errands to run, fun fun. Anyway, Ruby, yeps, I'm on broths, jellos, Water, juice, etc. They said full liquids, so every now and then I break down and do a thinned downed cream Soup. I need to change the flavors. I only have to do that until next Monday before I go to softies. I am anxious because I go in on Friday to see the nut and see how it is all going. If I still have pain on this one side, I will see what she can do. I hope everyone else who was sleeved the same week is having fun and recuperating well.
  12. Walk Walk Walk. I read that every time I come on here. What I want to know is, how can you walk so much after surgery? I am on day 4 and it still hurys to walk. Maybe I am a wuss, maybe it is because I had 7 incisions, but it hurts. i am able to take tylenol for the pain, but there is still pain. i also have a weird swelling around one incision. When I go back on Friday, I will point it out, but besides the gas pain, it hurts there the worse. I am just curious about the people that are up and walking through malls and shopping areas 2 or 3 days out. How do you do it?
  13. I am the same height and am looking at 150-145. I didn't like when I was smaller than that when I was younger. I say go for what you are comfortable with. If you liked it, go for it. Also think that if you had children, it might get harder to get to that weight.

    Walking

I was walking some on day 2, forget sooner. I did that much because I wanted out. I am able to walk more on Day 4 (today) but it feels like I am hunched over. I just wanted to see where everyone was, or if I was just being a lazy wuss about pain. i am glad that I am not the only one taking it slowly. Thank you
  15. I am the same way with the higher amounts of liquids on day 3. I thought I was drinking too much, but i seem to be doing pretty good. I know I am staying hydrated. I can feel when I have enough liquids at the time, but I also can tell when i am free to try again. My doc has on her diet sip until you feel full. If liquids go straight thru, it makes sense that the protein takes longer to drink.

    3rd day post op

I just had the surgery on Thursday, and haven't seen or had any problems. I was on ice chips until the leak test, and full liquids after that. I have been training myself to do the small sips. I found myself doing too big or sips, so I still put the same amount in my mouth, but only swallow half or part of it and swallow the rest in parts to make small sips. My problems are that I get the gas bubbles every time I drink and it isn't the most comfortable feeling. I hope it gets easier or less ticklish .
  17. I'm done I'm done I'm done!!!! yay!!!!!

    sleeved - 2 days ago

Congrats on making it thru. i had mine on Thursday also. Good luck on getting thru the haze. If it weren't for the scabs and the pain, I wouldn't know much had happened.
  19. Ok, some questions here that have been bothering me: 1. Why do they advertise pizza on a weight loss website/forum? 2. Why do hospitals require you to shower with the stinkiest soap ever? 3. How long is the average stay on the various levels of the post-op diet? Like how long on liquids? Mushies? Some of the questions seem silly, but I am staring to get nervous about Thursday. I am getting stuff ready for the brat child to go with a friend tomorrow after school for the night, getting stuff ready for me to take to my mom's and then the hospital, afraid the hubby won't come to the hospital to see me ( I was told to plan to stay 2-3 mights), afraid I might get told that the weight I have lost is enough to prevent the surgery, afraid I could end up with the severe headache I had yesterday when I went to liquids (had to eat to get it to go away, but don't have to restrict myself until tomorrow), etc etc etc. I could some up with more, but am freaking myself out more. Anyway, if someone has any answers, etc I would love something... Thanks

    Off Work

Sad but funny at the same time.... I have surgery Thursday and have to go to my mom's so she can drive me out. (Hubby has to deal with the child). Anyway to help me relax for everything, I get to take tomorrow off. With adding this off day for mental relaxation, I will officially be out 8 days, not including the two weekends. I have to go back for the last week of school... can't let them get awards without me. Does this seem like a reasonable time out? Am I nuts to go back after 10 real days post surgery?

    Questions?

Thanks for the answers. I am just going through the nerves. i am currently on the train into Dallas to go to my mom's and am trying to focus on school work that I will be behind in after the surgery. I think I will still be nervous tomorrow at 6 am when I get to the hospital. I asked about the soap because I thought I smelled like the flea soap I use on my dogs, lol. I know it is the antibacterial soap, etc. i think it does wonders, it just stinks. Oh well, the hubby didn't notice it yesterday, so I guess I am good. Here's to nerves and one more day until I get onto the loser's bench. ( I think this is teh first time I can ever say that and not feel bad.)

    Off Work

You guys might be right on the length of time. I think I will stick with the 10 days though. I will only have a week of work before school is out for the summer and I will have a ton of make-up work to complete. I also have a great team of coworkers that told me they would help me out when I need it. I love being a teacher because of the long break. I know when I go back in August i will be a totally different person.
  23. It surprises you what people say. I am scheduled for Thursday, found out today to be at the hospital at 6 am. My hubby and mom are fighting over who gets to take me. I think it is funny. Besides the nasty or ignorant comments made, there are some nice ones. i found out my mom researched the VSG after I told her that I was getting it done. She said she wanted to see what it was I was doing. She also took me shopping yesterday for some new clothes to be mini goals. She also has plans to ransack her closet. It is people like this that makes everything worth the snide comments.

    BAD Insomnia

Don't scare me with the thought of insomnia. I already fight it, to the point I have a sleeping medication prescription. I was taken off of Ambien and started something else when I was awake for 2 days after taking it. Now, after reading what you guys are going through, I am afraid that I will have the insomnia worse than it is now.

    Yay Me!!!

I had to share with people that would understand. i haven't had surgery as yet, it is scheduled for next week, but I had such a wonderful thing happen today. We had to order field day t-shirts that will be used as the shirts we wear for convocation next year. i bought the size that I have been wearing, a 2x, as well as a large for next year. I, for giggles and grins, tried on the large. IT FIT!!! It was a little tight around the tummy area, but it fit. I would wear it for field day this year if I was a little more comfy with the tummy area and if it weren't for the fact I have surgery scheduled for that day. I now know it will fit in August comfortably. YAY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
