    October 16 check in

My weight loss has just recently picked up again after a long stall. I'm down about 3 lbs from last week. I'm hoping this loss will continue, I have a few pairs of size 14 pants in my closet that are calling my name. LOL Ross and Penney's are my new favorite places to shop. I love the clearance racks! Love my sleeve! Hugs, Shell
  2. It really depends on what his program dictates but he could possibly have mashed potatoes & gravy, ham or turkey (chewed well), sweet potatoes, greenbean cassorole. He should definitely eat his Protein first and then maybe some soft veggies (green Beans - no corn), Hope that helped. : ) Shell

    3 month follow-up

I just asked my Surgeon about the flu shot last week and he suggested skipping it this year. I ordered a med alert bracelet before my surgery and I haven't taken it off since I got home from the hospital. It reads, "VSG - No Blind NG Tube". Hope that helps, Shell
  4. I'm only 6 1/2 weeks post op but I can definitely say that I would do this again. In fact, I wish I could have had the surgery years ago. I have my life back "finally" and I am looking forward to participating in all the fun instead of sitting by and watching. I love my sleeve!!!!! Shell
  5. I tried the BA Multi and it made me so sick. With the Centrum chewable multi, it takes care of the Iron too. I do take the BA Calcium chewey bites but I am really tired of those as well. This Vitamin thing is definitely tough. Shell

    Getting nervous now.

Well, you are 3 days out now, I hope everything went well! I just wanted to say God Bless you and I wish you a speedy recovery. Take care, Shell
  8. I started my period about two days after surgery while still in the hospital (I was about two weeks early). It lasted about 8 to 10 days but I assume that was from the heparin that I received every morning while in the hospital. I believe you are experiencing something very normal, you will be fine, hang in there! Oh, and don't worry. you will poop again in time. Your body is just in shock right now but what goes in must come out eventually. God Bless! Shell
  9. Hey Kelly, I think it is about time you shared some photos with us. Would you be willing to share????? We are all curious and could use some inspiration! Of course, we understand if that is not your thing. <3 Shell
  10. Hi all, I was sleeved August 29th and I have lost 13 pounds since surgery, 58 pounds total including pre op. I am doing good with eating (still on puree stage), I just keep trying to increase my liquids each day. My pain has been very minimal and my energy level is good most of the time. Over all, I feel pretty darn good. I hope everyone else is is feeling good too. Hugs, Shell
  11. Hi, I was sleeved August 29th and suffered from the same insomnia for the first week after coming home. It has gotten better but at least twice a week I find myself up at 3 or 4 AM on the puter or reading a book. This is so unlike me, I slept like a rock before surgery so I don't quite know what to make of it. I know it isn't much help but I just had to share that I am experiencing the same thing. Sucks huh?

    September 10th check in/weigh in

Hello all, my surgery was August 29th and I weighed in at 196.2 (lost 45 before surgery). This morning I weighed in at 185.6!!!!! Feeling real good and healing well. I am struggling with Fluid intake but I guess that is normal, I just try to add a few more ounces each day. I hope all is well with everyone else! Have a great day! Shell

    Fauxtato Cheese Soup

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I had mine last Monday and it started out rocky at first but I'm doing really well now. This is a great recipe and I will be shamelessly stealing it for when my "full liquid" stage comes around. Thanks for sharing and may God carry you through your surgery safely! <3 Shell

Told a patient I had a VSG today....

My Doc was completely against WLS and it took me about three years to convince him to put in a referral for me. I would have appreciated a Doc who was a little more open minded. I'm sure your patient feels better knowing that you care enough to share your personal experience. I know I would have. Thank you for caring! Hugs, Shell

Well, if you were going for the sexy, a little "bad" guy look, it's working for you! Ouch, hurt me! Great job, you look great!

    Kaiser Richmond patients

Welcome to VST and Kaiser Richmond. I attended an overview class at Kaiser Roseville to start and then moved on to the orientation class at Kaiser Richmond. You will be weighed at the orientation and they will use that weight to determine how much the surgeon wants you to lose before surgery. I attended my overview class at the end of April and am now scheduled for surgery on August 29th. I was overjoyed that the whole thing has progressed so quickly, but I dug down deep and kicked butt with my weight loss after the orientation. They really like to see the effort. Congratulations and keep us all updated on your journey. Make sure you let us know who your surgeon will be (they will tell you at the orientation). Hugs Shell
  22. I just received my surgery date on Monday (August 29th) I was so excited and then I got my Lab results. Apparently, I am slightly Anemic and I am afraid this will effect my surgery date. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Was the surgery postponed till the Anemia was under control? Any advise would really be appreciated. Thanks, Shell

    Pre Surgery Anemia

Thank you Kelly. Liz did say that she didn't think it would be a problem. I am so ready for the 29th to get here, that is of course until it is actually here and then I'm sure my nerves will be a bit frazzled lol. I sure appreciate all the support from everyone here in VST land! Thanks again!

    Pre Surgery Anemia

I just started taking Iron with my regular Multivitamin and I have my vits coming from BA within the next week. I spoke with the Nurse Case Manager yesterday and we are waiting to see what my Surgeon says about my labs. I will be fine if they set my surgery back, I figure I would rather be safe during the surgery than take a chance just because I am impatient. Thank you so much for your well wishes.
