There's NO place like the North East USA for Fall foliage. (MHO) It is truly God's canvas and He is feeling extremely artistic this year.

@High functioning fat man: (HFFM-- :) ) How about WALKING through the woods instead of driving---and always toward a "fish'n spot". :)

      Valentina

@kmorri---have you told your hubby that you invited me go along with you to the Great Smoky Mts??? How did he take the news? Overjoyed, wasn't he? ;)

We did walk a bit but between my dad's bad back and knee as well as my posture changing it was difficult. We barely made it to a waterfall. We did cover 168 miles and only 2 of those were freeway. Most were gravel roads.

  2. Starting PT following my skin surgery. No pool or fishing for another 6wks. I hope the striped bass run late this year!

We would love to explore the northeast. My sister and brother in law still have a house in Warsaw, NY . One of my life plans is to watch the leaves turn color up there and have a Maine lobster in Maine, New England clam chowder in a New England state and spend time in Boston, and D.C..

    3. Valentina

      Valentina

It so strange to go to "tag sales" in Maine. Every house has a cooler full of lobsters for sale. The dog shows that I had entered in Maine had lobsters boiling for lobster rolls and lobster chowder. Most dog shows are hamburgers, hot dogs and fries. The leaves are starting to turn now. Hurry!!!! :)

We would love to! 20k out of pocket for medical expenses says that we are keeping our happy butts at home for awhile.

Good one!! I love acronyms……I learned a new one today right here on BP in another thread. “F O C U S” F… Off Cuz Ur Stupid………….knowing that one makes me miss working in the office!! I can’t imagine how much fun I could have had telling several folks to FOCUS!!! It almost makes me want to give up my working from home…….. nah, nothing could be that much fun!!! hahaha

  4. Cleaned my closet over the weekend to get ready for Fall. Well, now I either have to go shopping--(which I hate unless it's for fishing tackle) or I have to remain in my PJs for the winter. None, and I do mean none, of my winter clothes fit to where I would wear them outside of the house. I guess this is a NSV, but it's upsetting. I really have some beautiful Fall and Winter clothes from when I used "high end" entertain with John and his diamond jewelers' circle. How times are "achanging". Moving on isn't always all smiles and sunshine, I guess, but moving on is what I am determined to do.

Valentina, I'm so glad to read this... your difficulty parting with clothes that don't fit. I'm not to that stage my a long shot, but have already walked into my closet and walked out shaking my head. I feel like I've given up a lot. So not ready to give up the clothes too.

Gosh girl... just so proud of you. And so glad you are better. You sound like your old self again.

    4. Valentina

      Valentina

@Unbridled: Same old self? yep. Like it or not, I'm bbbbaaaaaccccckkkkkkk! :)

PS: easy on the "old" remarks.... ;)

  5. I am delighted to report that I am official "overweight"--not "obese" I haven't heard those words since elementary school. Take THAT, Sister Mary Francis!

@ShelterDog64: I think this binder is causing my eyes to bugger out! Incision line is less angry and NO BACK PAIN since skin surgery. Keep your fingers crossed that the surgeons' theory holds true. I see the surgeon again on Friday. Thank you for caring/asking, my friend.

    3. Valentina

      Valentina

@kmorri: Missy: being normal physically has NOTHING to do with us being "a wee bit delightfully weird". I don't think the world should sleep too soundly just yet. ;)

      @Dub: Thank you...

  6. Prayers are wonderful things! Or perhaps it's karma, but wound is closed, culture is clear. I see my surgeon tomorrow again for a recheck. Thank YOUs for the prayers, and thank you Karma. Karma is a funny thing... :)

Great news!!! I'm glad to hear things are looking up. No matter the reason, prayers or karma, wishes, voodoo, magic, whatever.....oooooohhhh typing voodoo just gave me an idea for you. How much fun do you think you could have with a voodoo doll? You would get in soooooo much trouble! hahaha....made you laugh didn't I!!! :-)

@kmorri: Voodoo doll? HOW MUCH FUN!!! But---I'd probably develop a girl crush on that too. ;) I'm not well, remember. --and yes, you did make me laugh. Surgeon gave me a smaller binder today. He wants nothing to be able to move (mostly ME ) for another three weeks at least. I'm not good at this resting stuff. :)

  7. Spent yesterday in the ER. Incision is open, weeping and infected. Sometimes I just shake my head about what some people think is all mighty important...

  8. Last two drains are out. 1/2 of the sutures are out. For the first time in over forty years I can see my "lady bits"! Question: When did my "lady bits" turn grey?? I'll blame my surgeon. :)

Hey now! Cut that talk out. Give your self another couple of weeks and you will feel differently. I never had buyers remorse but I will say that I am not looking forward to recovery from the next round. Plastics is not easy to heal from. I am 4 weeks out from Brachioplasty and thrilled I did it but I still have nerve pain and some itching every single day. But every day gets a little better.

  12. Home for skin surgery with four drains, powerful narcotics and more pain than I thought was possible. Was it worth it? Time will tell. I want to thank you all for the good wishes and prayers. I am humbled by your concern and compassion. God Bless you ALL.

Thank you all! I think I will feel much better when I can get rid of these four drains and enough tubing to hang myself with. :) I peeked today and it is soooo not purdy. Hundreds --that's the count my surgeon gave to me--of sutures. Yuck, yuck and more yuck. If all of this helps my chronic back pain then YES this all will be definitely be worth it. That and wonderful drugs to fight off the pain demons. :)
