  1. On mushies.....would love to know what you all had for meals....best I can tell...oatmeal, cottage cheese, mashed stuff. My daughters were creeped out by the liquid stage (even though they don't know about the band) and this stage doesn't seem much better. I've tried potatoes twice and I feel like I ate a plate full of rocks. Should I be afraid that I'll never have a normal meal again? 15 days post op...15 pounds down...wooohoooo!
  2. Today was my first day postop for mushies. I reluctantly decided on a small piece of fish and mashed potatoes. I wasn't even sure I wanted to eat. Now....ouch! I feel like I ate a plate full of rocks. Is this normal? What is a typical mushie meal? Is it the same portion amounts once the band is filled? I have felt great...lost about 15 pounds during the first 2 weeks. The liquids were surprisingly easy. Did I eat too fast? Were my bites too big? Does that matter at this point? Is there restriction even now...because it sure seems that way. Rocks...that's all I can feel. Thanks in advance for any thoughts/advice! julie

    weight lifting question

I was shocked to read some posts saying that one should wait 3 months until lifting weights. I was told moderate exercise was fine after the first week. I never thought to ask more details about working out. I am 2+ weeks post op and was planning on staring weight training tomorrow..especially upper body. Thoughts? Thanks...Julie

    Cincinnati Weight Loss Center?

Yes...I was banded on 4/12/07 by Dr. Mobley. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks postop, but doing great. Let me know if you have specific questions. Julie
  6. Meal ideas for mushies. # of calories in a day?
  7. Thanks...yeah fish is on my mushie list...chicken, too, although I can't imagine eating a grilled chicken breast. I have been doing thick stuff..pudding, cream soup..perhaps I just need a few bites of whatever. It's just a strange, strange thing at first. What a relief though to not be obsessed with food. No rocks for lunch tomorrow.

    BIG Question????

I just received by band a week ago. This forum is a catch 22! It's helpful, yet so frightening. How do you discriminate between all of the great success and positive posts vs. the ones who share terrrible stories of complications? Initially I was afraid of the procedure, now I am afraid of the complications. I want to be so positive that this was the right decision, but now I'm afraid I'm going to move forward with fear. Help! Julie
  10. I was banded on 4/12...went back to work 2 days later...so feeling decent..except...I look 8 months pregnant...how long does it take for the swelling to go down? My shoulder feels like ^@!^& OUCH...big time...way worse than the incisions! When will this go away? I'm flushed (but not a fever)....why??? At first does this seem like an out of body experience??? If you ask me today am I glad I did it...I just don't know. Is this nomal? I just spent $16,000 to change my life. I'm terrified that something will go wrong. I don't know how to find out how I should be feeling (both mentally and physically)......is my dr.'s office letting me free fall. Thanks in advance!`Julie
  11. Thanks for the feedback...funny thing...I have no idea where the port is...can't find it and frankly am not looking that hard..ok..ok...gas x it is....! Still scared and feel creepy...gosh, I hope I've made the right decision? This forum helps alot! Julie

  13. Sorry to laugh at your expense, but that's the funniest thing I've heard in days.....3 days post-op and a little depressed and creeped out by the whole thing. Good luck!
