  1. Hi! I'm new at this weight loss surgery and blogging, too, so have patience with me, please. I weighed 292 lbs when I saw my new general practitioner last June 2010. She agreed with me that I desperately needed to lose weight, but I needed to get my body in order first. She did all the usual blood tests, finding I was very close to being diabetic. So, I began taking all the usual medications for one with my health history - you know - cholesterol, blood pressure, depression, anxiety, thyroid, all the minerals and vitamins I was lacking, too. But, hopefully, when I go back to her, I'll be able to let some of them go because I was "sleeved" last Wed, 3/2/11. From what I've read in these blogs, this will be the first day of the rest of my life. I'm now 6 days out and have lost 7.6 lbs - I'd lost about 30 lbs before the surgery, so I'm getting close to a total of 40 lbs! I'm trying not to focus so much on the weight loss as I am on feeling better. After surgery, I had the usual discomfort with the gas, the usual problem with swallowing too much at one time, and wondering if I'd ever have another bowel movement! But, I've made it thru those steps and am ready to go on now, I'm so anxious to hear from all of you and read your success stories, and get an idea of what I can expect.
