  1. 28m in the process of getting divorced and just sleeved on March 1st. Now I'm moving to Memphis. I don't know anyone in the area at all. My apartment is near Overton park and I would love to have a walking/jogging partner.
  2. Jan 1 I was 396, I was sleeved on March 1 at 379... Today I'm 328 and going strong. I feel great, and I've lost very little muscle mass. My last doctor's appointment he said "you ever see those commercials where they say results not typical?" I said "yeah." He replies "you are the results not typical guy you should be proud." I'm not eating near as healthy as I want to be either because I'm having to spend so much time traveling for work.
  3. I just had my sleeve done March 1st, and I'm so glad I did. I was fortunate that insurance picked up the majority of the cost. However I have a freind who will be self paying. Can anyone help us find her a budget freindly place to have hers done?

    Regrets

So you gained weight after your surgery? Please explain. I'm sure you had to lose some weight at least at the start.

    Regrets

No regrets here! I've been thrilled with everything so far. I'm losing 5+ pounds a week right now. I'm not hungry...I have more energy...Life is good!!!

    BCBS Illinois

I feel lucky. I was BCBS Ill, got approved first time through after a 90 weight loss plan. Now during that plan I went to support group meetings, met a dietician, and did the phsyc visit. It seemed like I was at a doctor's office at least once a week. Good luck to those having problems, and don't take no for an answer.

    Should I ???

I didn't tell anyone outside of my circle of friends. I'm not planning on telling anyone unless they are considering it. As far as the food stuff goes: I was down pre-op about not being able to eat my favorite foods again, but post op I don't miss anything and the reality is I can still have all of it. The surgery is already starting to pay for it self. I spend almost nothing on food. I was the guy that ate out every meal, now a cheap can of chili will last me four meals. I consider it a great investment, and probably the best money I've ever spent. No joke.

    Bodybuilding after sleeve

I was a former college football player, and I got sleeved after a player I know had bypass two years ago. He's in the best physical shape of his life, and hits the gym all the time. We were the same weight at surgery time so I'm hoping for the same results. I'm still two weeks out from being able to hit a weight room again. We could both dunk at 300 lbs (at 18 and 20 years old), and now he's 30 and 195 and not only can he dunk again, he can show up 18-19 year olds with his ability to jump. In short..., you can have the muscle mass you want to have, and be as athletic as you want to be.

Real Life, Real Work, Real Eating????

I don't think this is going to be as much of a problem as you think it might be. I was sleeved on a Tuesday, I went back to work the next Monday and I haven't looked back. Just be smart about your drinking. Drink before Breakfast and lunch, not after, and drink on your breaks. You will be fine. Fluids pass right through your sleeve so you can't over drink (although if you gulp you will take in too much at one time.)

    Breaking up with food

I very much ate to deal with stress and relationship issues. Post opp my wife really f*ed something up and put us in a really bad spot. This is a classic time when I would go on a binge. I stormed into the kitchen, got a spoon full of pudding, and spent ten minutes (not kidding) eating it. After I was done I was not emotionally satisfied at all. This forced me to deal with my emotion and cope. Since then despite being put in a couple more situations where I would binge eat I haven't had the desire to. I simply don't care about food like I use to. It's great.
  11. I was worried about this same thing. Liquids pass right through your sleeve so drink up. Just don't gulp. I'm 11 days post sleeve and I'm drinking non stop, just at a much slower pace than I did pre-op. (I was a gulper)

    Reflux help

I was sleeved on March 1st. Until March 10th I've had no problems with refulx. The last couple of days have been over the top though. I'm having major reflux problems. I am going to start taking Prilosec OTC today.
  13. Did mine 3/1 So far so good. I'm never hungry... and I'm having no problem with anything diet related. However reflux is becoming constant. I had 0 reflux at anypoint post opp until mid day yesterday, now it won't go away. I've lost about 12 pounds since the surgery, most of that came in the first few days...Just a pound or two the last couple of days. I'm very glad I did this.
  14. Hey I'm new and will post my story in another thread. Had my sleeve done March 1st Quick question: How many TOTAL oz should I be taking in a day post opp? I have no problem only doing 4 oz of liquid at meal times, and I have no problem drinking non stop. I don't want to over do it, but I simply haven't "challenged" my pouch to this point. I'm worried I may either stretch my pouch from drinking too much (after the first couple of days I quit measuring anything but meals), or dehydrate myself by drinking too little. Pre opp I was driking about 70-90 oz per day. Post opp the first 24 hours after surgery I probably only had 10 oz total, but that has increased to about 35-40 oz per day (3 meals of 4 oz liquds the rest being unsweet tea, Water, or juice) The diet my doctor gave me calls for full liquids in 3- 4 oz meals per day, and to sip the rest of the day. (No amount given) I'm Never Hungry!!!!!!!!! But I am always very thirsty, and I've been afraid to try to drink too much too fast.

    Fluid intake after surgery...

Glad to hear that. Some one else stated on hear pudding and things like that should fill me up. They do. I have to take time to consume anything other that a clear liquid. suzylou congrats on moving to stage II. I can, but I honestly have no desire to. I'm getting all the Protein I need with shakes, and I feel fine with just some reduced energy. Maybe in a week or two, but for right now I'm good.

    Fluid intake after surgery...

Thanks...I really don't think 64 will be a problem for me, I was just worried I was "sipping too much."
