    Whole new world

Hi Big Chris congratulations on getting your date. I just had my surgery this past Monday the 21st and am at home recovering. All went well, no side affects from anesthesia, just a bit of pain from the gas they use to blow you up to see your stomach but getting better day by day. Just be sure to follow all of your instructions because they know what they are talking about and have seen all of the horrors from those that have not followed the instructions. Drink your liquids, follow your pre-op diet it will be well worth it. In a year from now you will be so happy and well onto a better life for you and your son. The one thing I've learned from coming home is to make sure you control your pain and take the meds the docs provide. You will be sore for a while but it will pass. I'm day 4 post op and getting a little bit stronger every day. It is NOT EASY!! But if it was everyone would be doing it. Take care and keep me posted!!
  2. My journey began in August 2009 when I had the lap band surgery only to have it removed 3 days later. It had slipped and I was terrified of having it fixed for fear it would slip again and I couldn't take the pain. After that I thought, "Well I lost 20 lbs pre surgery I can do it on my own". Well it didn't quite happen as I had hoped. I started out at 256#'s and got down to 225#'s and every so slowly the weight crept back on. I even go to the gym 3-4 times a week FAITHFULLY!! So after many months of deep regret that my first surgery was a failure I decided to forge on and try it again. Low and behold my physician offered the sleeve which had only recently been added to the weight loss surgeries offered. Hmm, great I think I can do that one. So onward we tredged with our consultations and meetings. I thought the day would never get here and than finally February 21st comes and here I am now newly sleeved and healing. I'm looking forward to my new life and new beginnings. I know it's one day at a time but I also know I did the right thing. A year from now I know I'll be one of those saying "I should of done this years ago". I have many questions so please be patient with me and be there when I need you. Mary
  3. I'll be so happy when I get back to feeling normal again. Had surgery on Monday and am taking it day by day.

  4. I feel like I cannot take a full deep breath without feeling a deep sharp pain in my back right at my shoulder blade is that normal? I'm guessing it's still the gasses trying to make it's way out of my body but never know. How long does it take to heal, to get that feeling of normalcy again?
