  1. Congrats!!! So happy for you. This is such a miracle for so many health problems, it's truly amazing.

Is 40g of protein a day enough?

It's normal since you're so early out. It'll get easier when the swelling goes down some. I have about decided to not even bother getting that unflavored stuff, it just sounds disgusting.
  3. I think I went to my profile, click on About Me, then Signature and that is where you copy/paste the URL for your ticker. There are a lot of places to get a ticker, mine is from tickerfactory.com. You can google weight loss ticker to find other sites as well.

    Birthday Cake

You sound so much like me!! Undecisive and way too worried about what others want or too worried about disappointing others. I am pre-op too, and I've become picky about the food that I put into my mouth or the reasons that I do so. For instance, I don't eat anything anymore out of fear of hurting the persons feelings that prepared it unless it's like my very favorite food in the world. If I go to a get together and theres a lot of desserts, I am not even tempted, unless theres like brownies. Those are my favorite. I might have a small one or break it in half just to get a taste. Since you said you could take it or leave it, don't feel like you have to let her bring one if you don't really want one there. Or let her bring one thats not your fave so others can enjoy it, but you won't be as tempted by. However if you want one, you are pre-op, so get your favorite, enjoy it, and don't think another thing about it. Just don't let your mom, bf, etc be the deciding factor. It's going to happen to us post-op too.

    Going stir crazy

You're right it is worth it! I'm pre-op too but not yet on my official pre-op diet but I have been making a lot of lifestyle changes in regards to eating. I have to agree, i too used to eat out of boredom. It's very challenging to find other ways to handle it. I have been spending a lot of time reading and posting here, spending time with family and friends, preparing for and planning the trip to go have surgery, walking, reading, shopping even if it's just window shopping. And yeah it's a good idea to think about it now cuz maybe we can get some ideas for post op. It's gonna be different then to.

    Staying Hydrated

You are only restricted immediately post-op due to swelling and sometimes cold fluids may cause esophageal or tummy spasms, but if you try room temp or warm it may not. But we need to strive for getting 64 + oz daily and the further out from surgery the easier it gets. You shouldn't have problems later getting all you want in.
  9. Step away...from the scales and nobody gets hurt! Lol. Sorry y'all, i know it is terribly frustrating! I've been in a 5 month stall, but I'm pre-op. That makes it easier for me to just give up, and pig out!!! I haven't done that but I will be happy when I'm sleeved and have a little more control over portions when i get in that mode of thinking that I'm depriving myself for nothing. Use a tape measure or try on smaller clothes. Another thing thats amazing is how even pro-op i don't have to stress about where the waitress is going to sit me if i go out to eat and the anxiety of not being able to fit in a booth. Cuz I can fit easily now! So look at your non scale victorys too, not just the numbers on a scale!!
  10. Sorry you're feeling bad but considering it was a 2 in 1 surgery it may be natural. Good idea on calling your dr. I hope you feel better soon!!

    Well HELLO Sprout

Congrats!! You look so pretty and very happy. Made me lol on the socks and pepples haha.
  13. Yes I have had the same arguments with myself. I've been waiting for 7 yrs to have wls. There is always things or other people that we can think of to spend the $ on. I have always put everything and everyone first cuz I felt this was self centered. My thoughts on that has compleltely changed. I want to be here for my family and not have my children lose their mom at an early age to obesity, diabetes, heart attack, or stroke. Besides putting myself last and not taking care of myself is how I ended up obese. It's time to make a change for me and my family and improve my health and our quality of life. My obesity has affected and limited their lives as well as mine cuz we have to plan everything around my limited mobility. I just want us all to be free from my prison.
  14. If you haven't seen her in a while she is also going to notice your weight loss. So you could just say you have changed your eating to attempt to lose weight by cutting your portions in half and focusing on protein and lower carbs. You could say you eat like 6 small meals throughout the day instead of 2-3 large ones. I am pre-op but that's actually what I've been doing to prepare myself for much smaller portions post-op. It's helped me lose weight, but also my family is now accustomed to me eating a lot less. On the drinking, I don't know other than just ordering 1 drink and sipping it all night, If she notices just say it's all about making healthier choices. You are just choosing not to eat or drink a lot. The more normal our lifestyle changes become to us, the more normal they become to others.
  15. Positive healing vibes coming your way sweetie, try not to jump to conclusions and worry yourself sicker, but it's a good idea to be cautious with any pains or changes in your pulse. I have heard of gas pains early out too, but it's strange that they suddenly started 3 days out and mostly when you take in anything other than water. I'm glad you called your dr. Let us know what you find out.
  16. That's so wonderful! It makes all the difference when our loved ones support us in our difficult decisions. And wow, congrats to her for her successful weight loss too that's incredible!! Kelly
  17. You look fabulous great job! Congrats!

    Day 19. Wipeout

Oh my, that sucks about the ear infections girl I have them pretty regularly but having 1 newly post-op? That's gotta mega-suck. Excellent point, I will have to watch for signs of illness and not just contribute everything to having my guts removed post-op. Glad you got meds to get over it, and hopefully it won't take too long!! It's good to read that you still have your amusing creative writing ability despite it all! We can lose our tummies and our minds, and our dignity, and our carbs, and our lunch, but they can't take away our sense of humor!!! Haha Take care and feel better soon! Kelly

  23. I am sorry you had to go through that, those people suck!! I am sure that caused you a lot of unnecessary anxiety. I am glad you were finally treated. I thought it was illegal for them to refuse to treat you at ER. It does concern me because I am going to Mexico too. I hope you feel better soon!! Kelly
