    What Is Best Peanut Butter?

I found it at my local Walmart! It's right beside the peanut butters. I was so surprised they carried it, and it's delicious.
  2. Dehydration causes nausea too, so you are caught in a vicious cycle it sounds like. As others have said, just constantly try to sip small sips all day long. Try room temp or warm liquids, as they have also said, cold is hard on the new healing tummy. Walmart here carries Alpine sugar free Apple cider that you drink warm/hot if apple juice sounds good. It's in the section where the hot chocolates and coffees are. Or diluted apple juice. At this time don't worry about calories so much as hydrating yourself. If you don't do something quick you will be back in the hospital. That wouldn't be a bad idea to make a run to the ER and get hydrated by IV. Please take care of yourself!

    What Is Best Peanut Butter?

My favorite peanut butter is Peter Pan Whipped which is suppose to have less sugar than their regular. I don't know the sodium content. But I tried MaraNatha All Natural No Stir Almond Butter and I am IN LOVE!!! I like it better than peanut butter and that's saying a lot lol.
  4. Reading "Wheat Belly", very interesting and makes total sense!

    Soda

    oops, double post!

    Soda

I gave up my Mt Dews way before I had surgery. Probably around the time when I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, so about 2 yrs ago. Diet Mt Dew just wasn't the same for me. I started drinking Lipton Diet Green Tea, and I really like it. I am just as hooked on it as I was Mt Dew, so I have no desire to even have soda/mt dew now. I think Mt Dew contributed heavily to my gaining so much weight AND becoming Type 2 diabetic, so I regard it as the enemy now. It's a toxic relationship that I had to end forever, much like smoking and abusive boyfriends. My diabetes is resolved and I don't want it to come back!!

    I Just Need To Vent...

Happy Birthday!! You should totally pamper yourself with a manicure, pedicure, massage, new hair color or style, etc.
  8. Hydration is the most important thing for you right now, you're doing great! You will slowly be able to get more fluids in. Then a little later you can start focusing on the protein intake. Congrats on being sleeved!
  9. So glad to read that things are improving for you!
  10. I am rarely if ever hungry! I have to literally remind myself to eat. And I am not even on a PPI any longer, I dropped them at 3 months post op. I did that to try it out and see how I felt without it, because I was concerned about absorbing my nutrients. I try to stay on a schedule of eating a meal or snack every 3-4 hrs. I do this both to get all my protein in and to keep my blood sugar from spiking or going too low. I was previously Type 2 Diabetic, but am resolved since surgery. I don't normally let myself overeat or get that "too full" feeling. Even though I technically don't measure any longer, I know about how much food is considered 3-4 oz and only put that much in my plate/dish during a meal. I really don't wanna experience that too full/overstuffed feeling and I don't want to make myself sick. When we go out to eat, as soon as my meal arrives, I kind of separate the amt of food I know I should have, scoot the rest over on my plate and when I'm getting close to finishing my portion, I ask for a go box for the rest to have at a later meal or give it to someone else if they want to try my dish. I usually don't have the desire to eat more than what I should eat anyway. The once or twice in the very beginning when i first added solids back in that I did get a kind of "full feeling", it was similar to overstuffing at Thanksgiving. Kind of uncomfortable and I had to get up and kinda walk it off. I just try to eat till satisfied to also keep from feeling like I am stretching my sleeve. I still have a lot of restriction at 8 months out. Hope this helps!

    Dr. Kelly vs. Dr. Aceves

Who are you telling not to be silly? That's rather condescending, because people are here to do research on a very serious surgery. I don't think it's silly at all, but a seriously legitimate question. What recent death are you referring to? I try not to point out deaths and complications of other Surgeons when people ask questions, and try to focus on my actual experience with my surgeon. But we both know both of the surgeons in this discussion topic have had a death and complications because they BOTH have done thousands of procedures. And it is quite normal to have a few complications when doing a high number of surgeries, but they BOTH are considered to have a low complication rate despite this. Dr Kelly has never lied to me, has he personally lied to you? It would be nice if we could keep the hearsay and rumors to a minimum, and unless it's happened to you personally, you really don't know these things as fact.
  12. Awww you poor thing!! Yeah, I've heard from a lot of folks that there is much more pain with a revision. Don't overdo it, but yeah, walk as much as you can, it will help. It'll get better everyday though!! As soon as you can have protein shakes, try to get in some protein, it'll help with the healing and nutrition. Take care and congrats on being sleeved!
  13. JJtex, when you say Dr Kelly is scheduling his own surgeries, do you mean you went through Trish, or just directly with Dr Kelly himself by writing his email? Did you ever speak to him by phone before flying to Tijuana? Congrats on being sleeved!! It's great to hear you had a good experience. I had a wonderful experience with Dr Kelly too, but at that time going direct through Dr Kelly wasn't an option. I LOVED Trish!! She did everything for me, brought me everything I needed and even went hunting for my sleeve sisters companions when we thought they should have been back one evening. She spent her own time looking for them and driving my sleeve sisters all over Tijuana. She and Dr Kelly both were phenomenal! I couldn't have been happier.
  14. Good luck and sending you healing vibes for a speedy and easy recovery!! Please update soon.
  15. NoJess, You just joined the site yesterday according to your info on here. And if you are a revision from a Band to a Bypass, I am confused why you are on a Gastric Sleeve board, still trying to discredit a REAL patient and her recent experience!! And this is with Lacie clearly stating above that she would recommend Dr Garcia. What's the deal?
  16. Wow, you look great and you've done a phenomenal job on your weight loss!!! You're before pics aren't horrendous at all, but I totally understand what you mean. You are so gorgeous, be proud of your accomplishment!! :cheer2:
  17. Hi DD, I had a good experience. Feel free to read about it on my profile, it's rather long and detailed. Good luck!!
  18. I did have hair loss pretty heavily beginning at around 4 months post op despite getting between 80-100 grams of Protein almost immediately post op. Mine did a lot of thinning, but thank goodness no bald spots! It was very alarming, despite the fact that I had researched and was aware of this side effect. I don't seem to be having a lot of hair loss now. I am on a Multi w/Iron, Vit D3, Biotin, Calcium, and Magnesium. The only thing I've done different recently is added in Silica. It may be a coincidence and I was slowing down on the hair loss anyway. Here's a recent post on another hair loss thread that I posted: The 4 month mark is where i noticed a lot of hair loss too. My suggestion would be to keep up the protein, take a multi with Iron in it, and continue the Biotin if you take it, to encourage the new hair growth. I started taking the Biotin months before my surgery, and even though it didn't stop my hair loss, I am seeing tons of new growth coming in now. I did get my waist length hair cut to right below my shoulders. It was way over due anyway!! I don't know if anything has slowed it down or if it is doing it on its own, but I am not noticing near as much hair loss. In fact, mine may be back to normal now, unless I go through another loss later. I don't know if it helped, but I did start taking Silica after I noticed it coming out so bad. May be just the timing, and mine was about to slow down on its own. Either way, I am probably gonna continue getting in the protein, multi w/iron, Biotin and Silica til I am at least a yr out. I know it's worrisome, in fact, as prepared as I thought I was about this matter, I totally freaked out. It's quite scary. But the hair does grow back!! Good luck!!
  19. If you're still on the post-op liquid diet, yes, it's possible to be feeling REAL hunger. I did lose a lot of my hunger and cravings, but early out I did still get hungry for real food as opposed to liquids. You may also be experiencing more acid production this early out. So don't panic, it's gonna be just fine. Be sure to take your acid meds, and you may have to adjust them, if your Dr is ok with it. It takes a little while to adjust to everything, but it will keep getting better. Congrats on being sleeved!!
  20. Wow, that's amazing!! Congrats!! :cheer2:
  21. Congrats on being Sleeved!!!!! :woot: I never crushed my meds, so I wouldn't think you have to for long at all. It didn't hurt my throat to swallow. Sending you healing vibes, and WOW congrats on the 20 lbs on the pre-op diet, that's fabulous!

    Had Vsg Today !

Congrats on being sleeved, wow 3 hrs, I do believe that's a record!! The famished feeling you have may be acid, did they give you meds for that? Did they give you post-op eating guidelines? Be careful on doing anything other than liquids for a while, most of us have 2-4 wks of liquids post op to allow the suture line to heal. Sending you healing vibes!!

    Buffalo Chicken Wings

Yeah I was shocked too, but like you, I can't eat that many. I rarely have them now. I will eat chicken breast with the buffalo sauce, or smoked chicken, which is my current favorite.
