I don't know what's going on either, but I hope you stay. Your opinion is as valid as the next persons. With so many different people, we will of course have a difference of opinion sometimes, but I feel we should all be respectful. Don't let anyone bully you off this board, you have a right to be here for the support.
  3. Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry for your loss! *BIG HUG*
  4. I'm sorry it's rough going for you right now. The others are right, take your pain meds and PPI/acid reducing meds, they really do help, even if you think you don't have an acid problem. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  5. I haven't tried them, but I love the Atkins ones! The Atkins ones have 15 grams of protein and I really like the Cafe Caramel and Mocha Latte. I actually feel like I'm getting a sweet treat with them.

    Weight Watchers Anyone?

Good luck Susan!! We gotta do, what we gotta do!! If you are familiar with WW and feel comfortable with the plan, then that is what works for you! So glad you're feeling better after your procedure. I have been going to the Wellness Center and using the pool and I LOVE it!! I have a bad back/hip problem and swimming and water aerobics is so easy on the joints. But with exercise too, it has to be something you really enjoy to keep your interest. Let us know how it goes and I'm sure there are some other WW ppl here.
  8. haha love the topic subject! Darla I wish you a very easy surgery and super speedy pain free recovery!! You're right, I love this forum and the people on it too. My First Before And After Pics

Wow, you do look amazing!! If you aren't at goal yet, I certainly can't tell it. You are rocking that sleeve girl, congrats!! :cheer2:
  11. Awesome!!! So happy for you! Please update us as soon as you feel up to it, wishing you a easy surgery and speedy recovery!
  12. Pinklyfe, You mean you just joined tonight and you already have people private messaging you discouraging you from using a certain Dr? Did they recommend a different Dr? It's sad, but there are people who will do this to make money off booking you surgery with a different surgeon. Please be careful, but I agree, everyone should do a lot of research. Just don't take one persons advise, there are people that have ulterior motives but act as though they are advising you out of concern. They are really just a bunch of greedy vultures and can't be trusted and don't have your best interest at heart. You can go to a persons profile and click on posts or content to see if they have been contributing on the forum for support or just using it to start drama. Good luck to you, and I wish you well on your research!! Most of the people are here to offer you support and good advise, so please stick around!
  13. What a beautiful success story!! I'm so happy for you, and thanks for checking in and sharing your story. With just a little tweeking here and there, I bet you can lose that other 30 lbs!! Congrats!
  14. It takes a bit of adjusting, but you are doing fantastic! and OMG!!!! You look GREAT! You must not have very much more to lose. You are only in your 3rd week? Wow!! That's amazing. And you're gorgeous in both pics by the way.
  15. CONGRATS!!! I'm sorry you had a rough first day. I had a little of the gas discomfort but no nausea or vomiting. I absolutely loved Trish and Dr Kelly too! I'm so glad you are sleeved, welcome to the Losers club!

    Devastated!

It sounds like you're planning and doing a good job at work, so fix the issue when you get off work. Plan for that time too, and don't let yourself have anything not on your planned menu for the following day. If you're eating that stuff at home, then get it out of your house!!! If you're hungry due to your monthly cycle then keep things around like string cheese, and ready to drink protein shakes and nuts and almonds. the nuts/almonds are good for the crunchy munchies. If you're eating mostly protein/low carbs then your hunger and cravings disappear. I find if I try to allow myself a few crackers or a slice of whole wheat bread for my carbs I am hungrier, so I recommend veggies as your carbs rather than bread, crackers, rice, potatoes. Not to mention that they can cause stalls! And are you on a PPI? What you feel is hunger could very well be acid. I don't keep things in my house that are huge temptations for me, and I try to avoid situations that will put me in temptation. I am always prepared and carry string cheese, nuts, protein shakes with me every where I go so I am never in a sticky situation. You can do this!!

    Sex?!?!?!?! Omg Someone Help Me?!

Hmmm, probably the hormone fluctuation some of us have post op? I am not sure, but the topic was really funny haha

    Sick Feeling

It could be just acid, but definitely check with your surgeon if you've been diagnosed with a leak. I know you're ready to just get the problems behind you and move forward with feeling better and getting healthier. Feel better soon!!

    Back In The Hospital

I'm so sorry to hear that you're having issues and back in the hospital. The IV's, once they get them in place, will help you so much on the hydration!! I am curious to hear more of the meds for depression when you find out more. I've seen a lot of people discuss depression and the sleeve but not necesssarily the meds. Hang in there sweetie!!! Sending you healing vibes!!

    5 Month Progress Photos

Oh wow, you're so CUTE!!! Great job at 5 months post op, that is rocking your sleeve for sure! :cheer2:
  21. Gayle, sometimes we just need to vent, that's very normal. It is very frustrating to have any stall, whether it's a wk or months. Trust me when I say, you are not alone with your stall, I have had very long stalls!! I have to stop weighing, because it's such a mind game. But the fact is, you have done an amazing job at losing weight, 120 lbs in 10 months is freaking phenomenal!! It may indeed be slowing down for you, because as we get closer and closer to goal, it does sometimes slow down. But you are not done by any means. You might want to change things up to shake up your metabolism like increasing exercise, lowering carbs but not calories, etc. I am actually going to lower my carbs and not eat any kind of wheat to see if that helps me. I'm reading the book "wheat belly" and it's very eye-opening. Some of us are more sensitive to bread, crackers, etc. You may need to increase your protein? I know it's difficult not to, but don't worry about it too much, stress increases cortisol which promotes weight gain, especially in the abdomen. You're doing great, and an inspiration to me and others!! We can do this!

Meat Just Ain't What It Used To Be

I wasn't much of a cook before surgery, nor am I post-op either really lol. But I do love to experiment with different meats and ways to cook it. I use the CrockPot a lot, I love the way the chicken or whatever comes out so tender and moist. I also use the George Foreman Grill for more spontaneous protein meals if I didn't put something in the CrockPot. Everyone is completely right, keeping it moist is totally the key. I too use Plain Greek yogurt as a base for a lot of dressings/dips for dipping. I LOVE smoked chicken! So I pick up a half or whole smoked chicken and it lasts for a lot of meals. I like to dip it in the white sauce that's popular here in the south. I think it's basically mayo, vinegar, lemon juice, pepper and sweetener, which is probably sugar in the restaurants or commercial in the store, but you could make your own and use a little stevia. I really want to get an electric indoor smoker, not sure when I'll do that. But as much meat as I now eat, I think it would be totally worth it! I love the idea of putting the ground beef in the blender, because burger meat is one thing even now, kinda grosses me out. I think it's the texture and bulkiness. Blending it to taco bell consistency sounds much better! I also use the frozen meatballs a lot. I like to heat them up in spaghetti sauce, then melt shredded mozzarella cheese on top then sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese. It only takes a few, but the ones I get, 6 meatballs are suppose to be 3 oz. I still can't eat that many though. I don't even miss the pasta part of it! I'll take cheese over pasta any day! hehe

    Feeling Regret

It's just a hurdle to get over, it really does get better! Give the acid meds another try, or ask for different. It makes a huge difference on the nausea for some. Also dehydration can cause nausea, so try to focus on getting the fluids in. It's normal to wonder what the heck did I do, a lot of people do have buyers remorse in the very beginning after surgery. You're not alone!! I hope you start feeling better real soon.
  24. Congrats on taking this step toward a happier and healthier you!! I had surgery with Dr Kelly in May and I am doing great and feeling so wonderful! I'm sure it will be so much easier for you to travel with your mission work when you are smaller and can get around easier. What a beautiful blessing that your friends and family helped you finance your surgery, it's wonderful to know that people love you so much! I look forward to reading about your successful surgery and hearing your updates! Good luck!!
