  1. You could try it her way and it might kick your weight loss in to high gear. If it doesn't help a lot, then i would go back to whatever has been working. You're doing great!
  2. Yeah, so true, because this could happen off and on for a while til you adjust. I would have a private convo with the boss about the side effects and issues of your surgery so they will know this is somewhat normal and part of it. I don't know about there, but here and across many states, the Flu is going around, and I mean it's the worse flu we've had in a long time. If it's going on there, they may be paranoid that is the reason you're sick. And they don't want to catch it. Educating the boss and also letting them know you don't have any of the other symptoms of the Flu might help.
  3. I think it's common for people with weight issues to be an "instant gratification" type personality. Heck it may be more than just overweight people. As human beings, I think most of us want instant gratification. When I was younger and wanted to lose the weight, part of the reason it was hard for me to stick to a diet was because choosing between tasting something delicious right now when I am ________ (fill in emotion of your choice: stressed, upset, mad, happy, bored) or sticking to a healthy way of eating and waiting on the lbs to leave. It's hard to do for anyone. That's the beauty of the Sleeve, it gives us the ability to control our portions even when we aren't at our strongest emotionally. I knew going in that everyone is different, and to not compare myself to anyone. And while I have heard of the 6 month honeymoon period, I have seen way too many people on these forums continue to lose 2+ yrs and maintain pretty easily. So yes, I do wish I had lost more, but I am not going to give up by any means. I've worked too hard and came too far for that. We tend to want to keep falling back into the "diet" mentality. But we are going to have to eat this way, or pretty healthy for the remainder of our lives to continue to lose, then maintain. This is a lifestyle change for me, not a diet. I know and accept that I am a slow loser and I have long stalls. It's not fun, but it's how I lost before the sleeve. We don't have the malabsorption to drop the weight fast. I chose to not deal with the issues than can come with that. Age and hormones also determine these things. We all have our individual journeys to become healthier. I think a lot of wanting to reach our goals quickly, is that we are all so afraid of failure. And when some of us don't lose as fast as others, it seems like the Sleeve isn't working for us. It does definitely mess with our heads and our insecurities. I refuse to give up, no matter how hard things get or how slow my weight comes off. I feel so much better now, it inspires me want to feel even better and become even healthier by continuing to work toward my goals. We can do this together Sleevers!!

    I've Been Sleeved!

Congrats on being sleeved!! What an awesome Valentines gift to yourself!! The walking will help with getting the gas out and the healing. It gets better everyday!
  5. Oh my, hang in there. Did they take you off your pain meds already? Seems kind of soon. But the pain meds can also cause upset stomach too, so maybe that's why? I hope you feel better very soon!!

    Tmi Question

I don't think Dr Kelly's post-op diet said we could not have it? I started back on coffee at 2-3 wks out. If you are nervous about it, try warm water with lemon juice and stevia/splenda in it. I saw somewhere it is mostly the warmth of the coffee that helps us "go". Or you could try a little coffee and if it didn't bother you, proceed with more.

    Tmi Question

Seems like it took me a while, but I never was in pain or uncomfortable. I struggle with it now because I mostly eat protein, so I handle it by taking a magnesium every night at bedtime, and very rarely I take a stool softner. Usually with the magnesium and then coffee the next morning, I go with no problem. I think in your case it might have something to do with being on liquids. I remember worrying about it during that stage too.

    Success Story...?

you look great! I don't see loose skin either.
  9. Prilosec should help with the growling acid stuff, they sent me home with this. I don't know what your dosage will be, but sometimes in the beginning we have to take a good bit to combat this. It should help you when you get on it.
  10. Are you on a PPI/acid reducer? Sometimes the swelling in the new sleeve has excessive build up of acid and it can mimic hunger. Congrats on being sleeved and glad you are home.
  11. Congrats on being sleeved!! Welcome to the losers bench. What amazingly sweet gifts, you are surrounded by thoughtful and caring folks. What a great hubby!! I hope the spasms go away, ouch. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
  12. You look great Shea!! Already such a difference! Congrats on your success.
  13. I don't know if he still does it, but Dr Rodriquez in MX used to do in-house financing, but it was still a good chunk down first. I think like half down? You could check with them, but I don't have his contact info. There's other patients of his here you could ask, or you could try to google for his info.

    Oh Crap!

I wouldn't induce vomiting, I think it should dissolve in ur tummy. You may want to call the Surgeon just to be on the safe side.

    Dehydrated/hopital/home

Sorry you were sick, dehydration in itself can make you nauseous. I'm glad you're home now and back to posting. I hope it helped and you're feeling better.
  16. Congrats!! That's wonderful news!
  17. I love it, that's so wonderful!! Soooo happy for you, and I totally know the feeling. The Sleeve is the gift to ourselves that keeps on giving.
  18. Hmmm sounds odd, is this just in your sleeve, or are you feeling it all over your body? Could be a nerve issue, or a Vitamin deficiency? You probably should discuss with your Dr and have some lab work done. Let us know what you find out and I hope you feel better soon.
  19. No, the staples don't dissolve, but the skin scars over them and seals in a way. It may be the stitches in our incisions you are thinking of that dissolves.
  20. I know it's gonna sound crazy, but I get my food "fixes" by watching shows like The Chew. I previously would have hated watching yummy foods being prepared and not being able to taste it, or I would go out and get something similar or make it. Part of it is the fun they have on the show, and on occasion I do see something that I can actually have or modify. But it's mostly like watching food porn haha. I have no idea why it doesn't bother me, on the contrary it makes me feel like I get to enjoy it somehow. With my meals now, if I am having something really yummy that I wish I could have more of, I take any leftovers so I CAN have more, just a little later for a different meal. Or I have it for days in a row, or just tell myself right then, if I am sad I can't eat more, that I will have it again soon. It seems to help. There are tons of adjusting to be done with our new sleeved life, so I understand the mourning food part. It seems to get better over time.

    Dr. Kelly. Class Act

Hi, I totally agree about Dr Kelly! He really is a class act and totally knows his stuff. I'm so happy you are getting your sleeve! Please update us as soon as you feel up to it. I am confident you will have just as easy of a recovery as I did with Dr Kelly as your surgeon. Take Care!
  22. How exciting! I'm so happy you're getting your sleeve and I can't wait to hear about your updates AND the sexy reveal of the pics lol. Good luck on an easy surgery and speedy recovery. Let us know how you're doing when you can.
  23. Wow, you are doing fabulous and so close to goal!! Congrats on your success, I know you probably feel so much better. Way to rock that sleeve!
  24. My day by day detailed experience is on my profile. My cost was $5500 which included everything but tipping $ and if I wanted broth at the hotel, i bought that. If you want to go shopping, you may need more. My sister didn't have any additional costs except for her meals.
  25. Congrats on being sleeved!!! You sound like you're in pretty good spirits despite the rough start, good for you for keeping a good attitude. Keep repeating the mantra: It gets better everyday!! Happy for you!
