Why Have surgery in Mexico?

haha me too!! :Banane20: -
I NEED YOUR ADVICE!!!
KellyL replied to ChunkyAndFluffy75's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hmmmmm, If it were me, I would at least wait to see how things progress after the first meeting. I wouldn't feel the need to tell them immediately. But if the relationship progresses further, then yes I would tell them. It's going to be a big part of your life and part of who you are. Hiding things in a relationship to some people is the same as lying, which would then possibly cause trust issues. Good luck! -
DR KELLY & TRISH -AWESOME!
KellyL replied to wannasleeve's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Thanks, I share my experience and give my support because it is what I looked for in my 7 yrs of research. I am very blessed and grateful that I finally was able to get sleeved and I want to see that happen for anyone who wants/needs it. We all have the same goal in mind, that is to become healthier and happier and I wish everyone the very best in their journey. I'm glad you found anything I shared useful, and good luck on your surgery with Dr Kelly. -
Congrats, you look great and definitely I would have never guessed your age.

Wow, I am so sorry to hear this, I can't imagine how scared you were when you got that call. But I am definitely glad that getting the sleeve helped them to find it. Sending you healing healthy vibes!! Please keep us updated!

DR KELLY & TRISH -AWESOME!
KellyL replied to wannasleeve's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You absolutely have every right to your opinion. You don't, however, have a right to insinuate that anyone is getting paid for sharing their experience. Especially when you have posted your coordinators name phone # and even your name as referring them within like your first couple of posts on this board. So actually, YES you are the one posting your coordinators info. I have only done this when asked, I think in a recent thread entitled Dr Kelly and Trish phone # or contact info, and I also put it on my profile and in the "about me" section of my profile because I was getting questioned for this info a lot. But other than in a response to someone elses post and because someone specifically ASKED for the info, no I do not post Trish's info every 2 secs and I don't actually own a Trish Billboard. I do appreciate everything she did for me AND other coordinators patients while I was there in MX. Trish is the only one physically IN MX. That is a fact. I preferred using a coordinator there, and I recommend that to anyone else, especially if they are traveling alone. There may be things come up once at the hotel where you need a someone to be there physically. I am not referring to anything medical, because I know Dr Kelly would take care of that immediately. I am talking about needing other things. It was a little scary to think about surgery in another country where I didn't know anyone or how to get around in Tijuana if I needed to. I felt secure in knowing if I needed to call her for anything, she could come there within minutes. You jumped on this thread saying that you "took issue" with the original poster stating a fact about something. How was that discrediting your opinion? She said she didn't see any of the other coordinators there. This was a truthful fact and she had the right to say it without you or anyone taking issue with it and responding defensively the way you did. We would not be having this discussion if you hadn't of butted into someones else sharing their own personal experience, and trying to make it about you and your coordinator. And numerous people felt you were discrediting Trish, not just me. I am not spending any more energy on this. I am here to give and receive support on The Sleeve, and to share my journey. And if/when the subject comes up, yes, I will share my experience with my Sleeve surgery, my surgeon, and my coordinator. You feel free to do the same wherever you like. At least we can agree on one thing, Dr Kelly IS awesome. But please do not say things about me that are untrue. I will be happy to return the courtesy. Thanks. -
Slooow Burn in my belly ... is this the acid issue everyone speaks of???
KellyL replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omeprazole is generic Prilosec. One type will work well for one person, but not great for another. Sometimes you have to change up dosage or switch to find one that works really well. I got this info from the website http://www.medicinenet.com/omeprazole/article.htm Omeprazole is in a class of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPI) that block the production of acid by the stomach. Other drugs in the class include lansoprazole (Prevacid), rabeprazole (Aciphex), pantoprazole (Protonix), and esomeprazole (Nexium). Proton pump inhibitors are used for the treatment of conditions such as ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, which are all caused by stomach acid. Omeprazole, like other proton-pump inhibitors, blocks the enzyme in the wall of the stomach that produces acid. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this allows the stomach and esophagus to heal. Zegerid contains omeprazole and an antacid (sodium bicarbonate). The FDA approved omeprazole in September 1989. -
You can also make little mini pepperoni pizzas by following the above instructions then adding a tiny amount of pizza sauce and shredded mozz cheese to each one!! I do this sometimes when my family is having pizza.

Coming up on my one-year anniversary
KellyL replied to Soup-a-Woman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:welcome: Wow, 140 lbs is phenomenal!! Congrats to you! I enjoy soup too, as a matter of fact, I just bought the stuff to make some too. It's been a little cooler here and Fall is almost here, so I love eating stuff like that. I'm glad you found us! -
Slooow Burn in my belly ... is this the acid issue everyone speaks of???
KellyL replied to Sunny702's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sunny, It does sound like Acid, of course I am not a dr. I switched from taking the 2 Omeprozal at night, to one in the morning on an empty stomach, then waiting an hr before eating anything. Then I take another at bedtime. When I ran out of the ones Dr Kelly sent home with me, I get the generic ones at Walmart, but I think you can get them anywhere now over the counter. I hope this gets better for you!! -
DR KELLY & TRISH -AWESOME!
KellyL replied to wannasleeve's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I totally agree with you on this!!!! The above person has all of 5 posts, all in regards to discrediting Trish and pushing her own coordinator, then she accuses others of being paid. HAHA As if we don't know who is trying to get paid around here. I don't care what people say or accuse me of, I will continue to reply to posts about my Dr or my Coordinator, or if asked, I will gladly share my wonderful experience. It's not like I start a topic every other day just to praise Dr Kelly and Trish, but some people here do that about their Drs and/or coordinators. I have thousands of posts here, I am here for the support and to support others and to share my experience in MX. Trish just happens to be part of that wonderful experience and I don't have to defend stating the truth about that. -
HOLY TORPEDO JUICE BATMAN!!!!!
KellyL replied to blackmikeg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on the 45 lbs, that is phenomenal!! You're doing great! I have to agree, it is most definitely the simple things like tying my shoes, painting my toenails, shaving my legs, etc that remind me everyday that I made the right choice to be sleeved. Thanks for sharing the story, it's a great NSV!! -
We all have our off days and moments of weakness, but they will definitely affect our weight loss. Do you use any kind of food tracking program online or on your phone like myfitnesspal? It doesn't just help because it keeps up with calories/protein/carbs, it helps cuz it makes you more mindful of what you are eating and will stop me many times from eating the wrong things. Don't beat yourself up, just commit to doing better. We had this surgery because we are serious about losing the weight, but it can't do all the work by itself. We gotta work with it, not against it. You can do it, and you're worth it!

SURGERY ON 09/02-I HAVE NO PROBLEMS?
KellyL replied to wannasleeve's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I think we all worry that we are going to be slow losers. As a matter of fact I know I am. For one thing, I lost a big chunk right before I was sleeved. So I didn't have the immediate rush everyone else gets of the water leaving my body. Then I was diabetic, although I am off meds and it seems to be I am cured or in remission, I still worry I may be somewhat insulin resistant. I hope not, but it's possible. Then another thing, I had a hysterectomy a few yrs back, and I think I may be menopausal or perimenopause maybe. All these things I feel are working against me, but I don't mind being a slow loser, as long as I lose it eventually. I know the sleeve will give me the best chance I've ever had at success. -
Wow, congrats!!! That is so awesome! And I am the exact same way on anything "forbidden". I do eat protein first, but I don't let myself think anything is really off limits. I do make myself count calories, protein, and carbs, but mostly cuz my app does it all. I don't freak if I go over the carb amt as long as it's not WAY over. my calories are around 800-900 most days too. I love how easy the sleeve makes staying on plan, because of the restriction. We just can't physically eat too much. I do know this may change later on and I'll have to maintain, so I am trying to get into the habit of eating better and tracking. Anyway, so happy for you!!

SURGERY ON 09/02-I HAVE NO PROBLEMS?
KellyL replied to wannasleeve's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I had that exact experience, and so does most of Dr Kelly's other patients that I have spoke with. It is amazing and quite nice when you sort of have yourself prepared for the rougher recovery we read about here a lot. That's why I am constantly saying I am so grateful. Not just to finally be sleeved but to have a great surgeon AND a ridiculously easy recovery. I didn't have problems with pain, nausea, throwing up, as soon as allowed, I could drink with ease, then when I moved to food it was also easy. I haven't had any food intolerance's yet. All foods that I've tried go down easy and stay down and don't bother my sleeve. I joke around and say it's like I didn't even have surgery, but I see the tiny healed scars on my tummy, I saw my sleeve during the leak test, and I feel the restriction when I'm suppose to. It's nice to be sleeved and feel so normal!! I am not trying to make anyone who is having a rougher time feel bad, but I am just still amazed by this and was happy to find another person with the same experience. I also want to give others hope that there are people who have had fairly easy and smooth recoveries, we are all different and so many things can factor in. I may be biased but I totally feel that the surgeons skill can make a big difference. Congrats again on being sleeved, and I'm so happy you are doing well and not having any problems. Sleeveland is a great place to be! -
I hope you get a surgery date soon, good luck!!

6 months out & need help getting back to basics!
KellyL replied to Miters36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have truly done a fabulous job in 6 months, but I know you want to get things going again. You can do the 5 day pouch thing or liquids, but you may have just as good results by increasing protein and water, and leaving out the carbs. It will be hard the first few days cuz of the carb cravings, but then it will be easy again. Just clean out your fridge and cabinets and only keep stuff you can have around you to avoid temptation. I know it's difficult. I do so well thru the wk, but on the wknds when we socialize more or around others and more stuff is available, I get in that mindset, maybe I am not losing fast because I'm not eating enough carbs or calories. All these voices that help me sabotage by justifying eating the wrong things. I haven't gone to overboard, but I've had a little baked potato or something.. When I'm home and only keep good stuff in the house though, it's way easier to make good decisions. Good luck, you are doing great and gonna be fine. -
Oh wow, that's such great news!!! Congrats, I'm so happy for you! :cheer2:
-
OK, so I haven't weighed in over a wk, my scale broke,or the battery went out. I think I am gonna let it stay broke for a while and just keep on focusing on doing the right things.
