  1. I'm 6 dys out myself and didn't have a BM until 3dys post op. I guess that's good considering the length of time some of you all have gone.

I feel the same as you as far as not feeling full on liquids, but like the ladies said .. it's a filler food and real fullness won't come until some food with consistency enters our stomach.

But I do have a question as far as Protein goes. 50-70 grams of Protein is needed daily, but how am I supposed to get that when all I'm consuming is broth, Jello and Clear Liquids? I'm confused by this or does this apply to when we start the "mushy" stage of food?

    Please weight in guys..thanks

  2. Im on the other side ladies 3dys post op!! The first night was touch and go for me... I had a lot of vomiting, which they said was natural. After they gave me nausea med's around the clock. .. that's when it started looking up and I felt so much better afterwards. It's hard for me to get in my liquids.. Just to give you an Idea what it's like.. I have a 12oz bottle of Gatorade from 2dys ago and it's still 3/4 full... So yea.. it's hard getting your liquid down.. plus I don't want to upset the new tummy...

So far so good, guys! I'll report back when I have some new Info..

    Take care

  3. IT is exciting to get a new body! You will have so much more energy and have fun dressing yourself up in cloths that are also flattering. LOL Try not to over think it and take it one step at a time. Enjoy each day as it goes by. Soon you will be standing in front of the mirrow with much slimmer and healthier body. You will love the results. Congrats on your surgery date! You will rock that sleeve. ;)

Dorrie, wow! 70 lbs.. I can't wait to be in you all's shoes. I am looking forward to the energy. The clothes shopping will definitely be something I'll have to get use to. I say bring it on! lol

  4. Yaaay! I am super excited for you too! I think you are making realistic goals, about the same as mine! Best of luck to you and keep us posted on the journey! :)

Thanks Kimmy. I believe my goals are realistic as well. And I will do my best to keep you guys in the loop.

And I believe congrats are in order. 50 lbs lost? Amazing! Keep it up...

  5. My surgery is April 27th with Dr. Garcia in Tijuana and I'm ecstatic!!! Do ya hear me?? Ecstatic I say!!! lol And even a little nervous, but not about the surgery itself, but what my body will look like in the aftermath.

I've been over weight since I was 11 will be 30 this month and I've grown so accustomed to my plus size body. I know how to best cover up this roll or how to squeeze and tuck this or that in. I know what clothes to wear that flatters me best. Yes, I said flatter. Even at 340 lbs flattery can be found lol. Basically my being overweight has turned me into a control freak. And I don't know what this new body's going to be like. I know that I'll be happier and healthier because of the weight loss. But physically I'm without a clue. I have to become confident and accepting of my body all over again. This took me so long to do in the first place. Maybe I'm over thinking it? I don't know. Either way this surgery has been a long time coming,12yrs in fact and I will embrace it the best way possible. I need this. I need to become healthy and have some semblance of a life again and to give myself a fighting chance.

Right now I'm 340.2 lbs as of this morning but my highest has been 350+ The plus? I have no Idea. The Dr's scale didn't go beyond that... frightening. So I thought it best to post in this group. I would like to get down to 140-150 lbs but I would be fine with 160 lbs. I know 140 lbs seems low, but I'd like to give myself a bit of a cushion in case of weight gain.

    Okay so here's my stats.

    5'6

    HW: 350+

    CW: 340.2

    GW: 140-160 LBS

  6. Thank you ladies for the response. I just couldn't find anything on the price quote. Now I've got some thinking to do.. hmmmm...lol

Wooo hoooo for you Caradina! I pray you have a wonderful experience! And Andkel30 how are you holding up 9dys post op?

Congrats to both of you ladies!!

  7. Hello all... :D

I've been trying to find out the cost of vsg with Dr. Rodriguez, but I can't seem to find any price quotes on him. Also, if anyone know's anything about " Mysurgeryoptions.com" and what doctor performs the surgery would also be great! They seem to be running a special right now..but I'm more concerned about the doctor and his/her credentials.

Thanks for your information in advance..

    I'm on a mission to be sleeved A.S.A.P ! ! ! ! :P

  8. Wouldnt consisder myself a success story yet, but here goes.....

I had surgery on 3/15/10. The surgery literally saved my life. There are times when I still see 342lbs when I look in the mirror, but then there are times when I will catch my reflection and say “damn, I’m skinny!”. Is that weird?

Anyhoo, a year later, I still have great restriction. Some days more than others. I can usually pack in 2-3 oz of dense Protein plus about 1-2oz of veggies in one sitting. 5oz max (meat and veggie) at one time. My hunger hasn’t really returned, I just get an empty feeling in my belly, though cravings have come back and usually attack me around my TOM. Too much sugar makes me sick and if I don’t get enough liquids and Protein in, I will stall. I haven’t really exercised all that much in the past year. Practically not at all. I probably would be at goal if I had. I did recently buy a bike and as soon as the weather breaks, I will be taking up cycling and running. I am planning on doing a 5k in September.

Life is better and I am looking forward to the future! To those on the fence about having wls; just do it! it will change your life.
