  1. I've never heard of that website, but I'm about to check it out. I have however researched a PS in D.R. One doctor's name is Dr. Robles and from what I've seen and read she does wonderful work. I believe the quality and care is the same as Costa Rica and the cost is lower. Not that you should go with a surgeon based on low fee's, but if the credentials are in place and the work is excellent. ..then why not?

  2. i read dr robles and i read one bad story about her which kind of scared me. i was looking into her too. i spoke with a few surgeons and theres one that has even done videos and i think i want to go with him who has great reviews but might quote higher than other drs

I've only heard of the one bad review from Dra. Robles, but it wasn't concerning her work ethic or performance. More so..of what she was not going to perform on a patient. The rest of the reviews that I read were pretty awesome. And I like that she has an all-inclusive package... Wait..or was that Cardenas? lol Right now I'm not sure.. but and all-inclusive package sounds really great to me. Best of luck with whomever you choose :D

  3. Marlton? I'm right outside Mt. Holly.

My experience in MX was wonderful! Everything ran so smoothly. We had a driver pick us up from the San Diego airport and then he drove us across the border and then to our hotel. I had preop testing and the next day was surgery day. It was great. I had no pain, whatsoever just discomfort and a bout of nausea from the anesthesia. It makes me sick. But so far so good. No complaints here. I'm even considering going back to MX for plastic surgery. That or the Dominican Republic.

  4. When it comes time for my plastics I've narrowed it down to two surgeons. Dra.Carmina Cardenas in MX and Dra. Robles in DR... both do AMAZING work! And I've read great reviews about both surgeons and thier after care.. but I beleive DR is a lot cheaper.. Well.. the plane ticket will be for sure and the travel time will be less..And that's always appealing. I traveled to MX for my sleeve and hated every minute of the journey back. So I'm thinking the DR will be a lot closer and less travel time. I can't imagine a long plane ride after all the work I'm going to be getting.

It's MX or Dr or bust! lol

  5. Those are all the plastics I'm looking into as well. I'll probably have them done 2yrs from now. I'm no where near goal and that's when the finances will be available. Hopefully the surgeon I'm considering Dr. Carmina Cardena's in MX would be able to perform all three..Im crossing my fingers for that.. She's called the queen of TT and I seriously want her to work on me..her TT are beautiful!

  6. Hi guys.

I was sleeved 4/27/12 at 330 lbs and a size 26 pants and a 3x shirt. But my heighest weight was 346 on April 9th.

As of today I'm down to 238.6 lbs. A size 18w in pants and an xl to a 1x shirt. So that's 107.4 lbs from my heighest and 91.4 lbs since surgery.

This sleeve rocks! Hopefully I'll be down to 210 by the end of December. That's my goal. I pray that GOD helps me to make it. :D

    Great job, everyone!

    I

  7. Ok, so my goal was to get to 269 by August 5. Well, today I am 268.5. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. My next goal it to make it to 259 by September 5. Ultimately, I would love to make it to 255 by September 2nd. My birthday. I also realized today that I only have 17 more pounds to lose to make it to the half-way point. That will leave me 116.5 more pounds to go. Daunting to some, I know, but to me, very doable considering where I have come from and how far I have come. Let's make August a super month for all and my congrats to all of you no matter the number of pounds. Every ounce counts!!! Cheers everyone! :)

I'm 268.4 myself and stared at 346 and 330 on the day of surgery. I hope to at least be 208 by December. That would be awesome! and congrats on your 100 lbs lost!

  8. Soft protein: cottage cheese, greek yogurt, scrambled egg, tofu...

I also have no problem with what I call ABC meat. Already Been Chewed. :D And no, it's not really been chewed, but it's been ground. Like a turkey burger or turkey tacos. And Protein bars are easy to eat, too. It's those fibers in meat that make it so hard to digest.

lol.. after I typed that question I realized what you meant.... Sometimes I'm slow on the uptake...hahahaha...

  9. kiki - 3 week stall! Ugh!

I've been plugging right along. Every day the scale scoots down just a bit. From surgery (4/10) I'm down 52 pounds to 172. Finally I weigh less than my husband!! I can feel bones I have never felt before. On a funny note (boys, cover your eyes) when I lie on my back, my boobs have shrunk and tend to slide to the sides, but I now have my rib cage poking up, that looks like low boobs. Well, can't have everything, right?! At least my ribs are my highest part when I'm on my back instead of a tummy mountain.

Shopping has been weird. I've nearly shrunk past all of the clothes I had that were too small. I've picked up a few things at Target but I'm not sure what size to buy. And the selection! Isn't it strange to be able to shop the whole department?! Before, it was "Well, this fits, I guess I'll take it." Now I can hardly decide what to buy because everything fits. Amazing.

With food, I'm still sticking to soft Protein. I've got years to eat chicken and all that. I want to eat easy food that I know will make me feel good. Good luck everyone - we're doing great!!

What do you mean by soft protein?

  10. I spoke with my surgeon and found that my inability to get in my Proteins from meat is not uncommon. Has anyone experienced the same issue please give me some ideas.

Meat is normally how I get all my Protein in. I buy these steak strips from Walmart and 3oz of that is about 19g of protein. I eat that 3 x's a day and that get's me a total of 57g's... I also eat green veggies as a snack and also a tiny bit of carbs and fat because I want my diet to be well balanced as much as possible..Then some time later in the day I'll have my protein shake..which is 25g's and that brings me to a total of 82g's plus whatever protein I'm getting from the veggies.. So I say I average between 82-90g's a day....My diet is pretty strict and routine because of this, but they're all foods that I like and it's working for me...

Have you figured out a way to get all your protein in?

  11. April 27th here and doing great!

Down 55.3 lbs post op and 16 lbs pre op. So that's 71.3 lbs total. My shirt size before was a 30/32 and now it's between a 1x or a size 22. My pants were a 26 and now they're a 20 and even those are becoming a smidgen to loose. I keep fluctuating 3-4 lbs but I believe that's due to TOM.. I'd like to see more pounds dropped but when I think about it 55 lbs in 3 months is holy craptastic amazing!! lol I have to constantly remind myself of this...lol

  12. Hi, Rahnava... I too was sleeved by Dr. Garcia..Surgery day was April 27.. So far I've lost 55.3 lbs post op, but I lost 16 lbs pre op..for a total of 71 lbs.

I completely understand about the 5-6 lb weight gain during TOM. I'm currently going through it right now and its' so frustrating, but even if we're smaller and at our goals this would still happen..I see it as one of the woe's of being a woman..

You'll break out of the 60's I'm sure of it.. I was stuck for about 3 wks at 300 lbs and within 2 days... i literally dropped 4.5 lbs. I upped my workouts and spent more time outside sweating and I believe that helped a lot...

I agree with Lauranbob... 60lbs in 6months is awesome! Sure we'd like for it to be more, but I've found that we all lose differently.. I've read on here where some have lost 100 lbs by month 4 but that clearly isn't in the cards for me.. As long as we're losing that's what's important, right? :)

My goal is to lose 9-10 lbs a month. Anything extra is just icing on the cake... Sometimes I've exceeded that and other times like this month I have not.. I've only lost 7.8 lbs for July, but it's 7.8 lbs less on me than before. I have about 100 lbs to loose myself. So I figured 9-10 lbs in a month in a 10 month period is feasible. I don't think I'm reaching for the stars with that amount...

We can do this!! Set backs..stall's or whatever you call them are bound to happen.. But as long as we're following the plan we can't lose...

    Stay encouraged, okay? :)

  13. Can we say HAPPY!?!?!?!?! Because, that's what I am!

I am officially out of the 300's and in the 2's. As of today I am 296.5lbs coming from 346 lbs in April. I thought I'd never break out of the 3's. I hoovered at 300.1 for 2 weeks and BAM! The 3's no more! and I'm never going back.. ya, hear me?! NEVER! lol

I am so happy with my sleeve. Matter of fact I'm in love with him. I call him Steve by the way.. "Steve the sleeve" lmbo and Steve brings me so much joy and happiness. I'm happy I made the decision to have VSG.. It's done me nothing but a ton of good, thus far.

    Losing feels so good!!!

Wow! So today is exactly a month since I made this post and I'm Happy to report I'm 22.8 lbs down since then. For a total of 72.3 lbs since April...16lbs pre op and 56.3 lbs post op. Gosh I LOVE my sleeve!!! Just thought I'd share that.

    Have a good one everybody...

  14. I went through and thought the same thing and was very frustrated when It happened. I've had 2 or 3 stalls since my surgery in April and for me I found that getting extra Protein helped break it..especially protein from Chicken.. I don't know what it is about it..but it helps melt the lbs off me. So try upping the protein and see if that helps. When I do this I always loose about 3-5lbs in a day or two.
