I feel your pain I really do, I had horrible Belly pain around the largest incision site.. It was awful.. Getting up off the recliner couch ect was extremely painful, I slept in a recliner for about 5-6 weeks after surgery and I couldnt bend over to tie my shoes or pick things off the floor... I was checked for a hematoma or hernia and all felt great .. They told me not to lift or do anything that caused pain and give it another 4 weeks.. That was at my first checkup.. So it took about 5 weeks. It was sore and felt like a muscle was on its last limb and ready to rip open.. I was so relieved when it went away, they said some people get this and they dont know why! I hope your pain subsides soon!

That is so true, and that is how you have to look at it.. Is this is your choice for You not them! I did have people question my choice, but typically I think once they knew I was serious and def. going through with it, I had lots of support. I think its only natural for people to question, out of fear or lack of knowledge.. Best I can say is lean on those who are supportive, because you will need them! And those who arent if they love you will bend.. even if its a little! BEst of luck!

I am not a big drinker but here and there I do like one ,When is it ok to have something and then what are the best choices?? I know we cant have any carbanation or juice anymore..So..... What are some of the better choices out there? What has been everyones experience with the first adult beverage since surgery?

My restrictions were to not drive while taking pain meds, Also not to lift anything over a gallon a milk and to take it easy..Hard to say because people vary, I could not pick anything off the floor till around week5 I had horrible pain to the right side.. Took a while to heal, they said some people get this and some dont.. Im always amazed to see those who were great in a week.. It does show it varies person to person. Is there a way to have some help just in case.

Its so hard to get used to all the new feelings and rules, I find myself unsure at times too! Dont be affraid to call your Dr. office with any questions you have either, thats what they are there for!

Salads are one of my favorite things and I cant wait to eat again! I was told 3 month marker I can start having Salads, Nuts, Oranges, grapefruits and other raw veggies...

My favorite is Dannon light and fit... My nut wanted to me to stay under 12 g sugar. I sometimes throw some cherrios or some kashi go lean or something like that with it for a little crunch.. I do like the Chobanni too , those are really the only two I have tried so far.

That reminds me of when I went to Shoneys with my Mom and kids (My kids love that place...ugh!) and I ordered a steak. It was a little over cooked but I took just 3 bites of it and I was done. The waitress asked if everything was okay, I said yes just fine. Then Mgr came by and asked and I said, "Yes, it's fine. Thank you." She took the plate away and when we got the bill they had taken the steak off my check. I even told the lady at the register that the steak was fine. I'm not going to lie and say it was good, cause it wasn't but I wasn't complaining!
Ive had something similar happen a few times already,,, They see Im not drinking my Water or really eating much of my food and I think they wonder whats up.. That the biggest thing I have come to notice.. I always order Water to avoid the strange no drink look plus I need to wet my mouth.

When you go to a restuarant and dont eat much and the waitress ask if everything was ok with your food.
Kids or husband ask if Im done when I put my fork down , they want to attack my plate
Always ordering Water because you cant have a regular drink..
When you can actually put your bra to the last hook and your not feeling like your strangled to death.
When you keep looking at the ingredients to find out how much Protein is in it
Ordering from the kids menu
Love the one someone wrote about you order to what would make a good left over haha I did that also, some stuff just isnt the same later and some stuff is great to take home..

For me, and me alone, I think starting to realize there are NO BAD FOODS will help with this mindset. Learning that there are "best, better, not so great" choices with all foods and drinks really helped me live the life of moderation I truly wanted. food is either nutrient dense, or nutrient lacking.
For me, deprivation leads to binging. Therefore, I have to make the conscious choice on what I put in my mouth. If I want a donut, I'm going to have a donut. It's done and over with, I can't take it back, I can't not have it process in my body, and I refuse to think that a donut on occasion is going to make me gain back 140lbs.
It does take time for the brain to catch up with the body, but it does happen. At least it has for me.
Remember, you are human, and only you can decide what is best for you. Learning to stop beating yourself up for having a donut will be the first step.
Totally Agree !!!

Like the others mentioned I was able to do broth, sugarfree Jello , crystal light, creamed Soups smoother foods and more there really is quite a bit of options.. After surgery my favorite thing was Edys sugar free real fruit pops! Loved them, they gave me taste, and the cold felt good on my mouth and throat!

I was never really told anything about soda except not to have it.. Do they say it can stretch out your sleeve??

I too will sip with meals if neaded.. But It is basically just enough to wet my mouth.. When at a restaurant I always order Water, and if needed I take tiny sips... But when Im done it looks like I havent even touched it.. It is hard to not have both, But I do find it easier now that I have had the surgery then before.. I think everyone just needs to find what works for them in the long run!
