  1. Happy 39th Birthday LMCHP!

  2. Happy 38th Birthday LMCHP!

  3. When I had my surgery done, I was given a book about lap band surgery that was written by a prominent Australian lap band surgeon. In the chapter about food and drink it stated that at first they told their patients not to drink as it was just empty calories, but that through research with their clients they found that a glass of wine, especially a glass of red wine was actually beneficial to weight loss. It stated that he allowed 7 glasses of red wine per week. :clap2: I've enjoyed a glass of wine since surgery on occasion, and my favourite right now is Yellow Tail Chiraz. Yummy! I've been craving a bottle of beer the last few days, it's just been so hot and sticky, but I'm afraid of the fizzies. So I'll stick with my occasional glass of wine

Jacqui, I have a silly question for you! Do you drink the glass of wine with the meal or after a half an hour or so? I was given a book by my lap band surgeon by Paul O'Brien who states that a glass of wine with a meal is fine and in fact can be beneficial. (He states especially an Australian chiraz or merlot ) but he doesn't differentiate if you should drink it after your solids or with. Thanks for your input! Lisa
  5. LadyBlue, What were the names of the books that you purchased. I've been looking for some good ones, but am afraid to purchase because I don't see a lot of reviews. Thanks! Lisa

    Dr. Cobourn

I was banded by Dr. Cobourn last Friday (July 6th) and I too cannot say enough about him. He's very open and caring and all the staff at the clinic made me feel comfortable and cared for. Tammy told me before my surgery last week that she and Sue are changing the post-op diet slightly and I was to do 24 hours Water only, 24 hours clear Fluid, then full fluid until this Friday, then 1 week puree, and then 1 week soft food. So basically each stage has become just one week. A couple of days ago I thought there would be no way I'd even want to look at pureed food on Friday, but now I'm feeling much better and think the added nutrient intake will help speed recovery. Good luck

PLEASE tell me it gets better

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm happy to say I feel soooooo much better now I bounced back so quickly from both my sections that I truly thought this was going to be easy. Guess it's the difference of hormones and taking somebody out as opposed to no hormones and putting something in
  8. Guess I've been lucky in my dealings with the CRA. Sorry to hear about all the bad experiences. Weenette and sg_sg if you call the 1-800 they will extend the time to submit the receipts.

PLEASE tell me it gets better

Thanks Louise! I was expecting back pain because I knew there would be a lot of gas from having the surgery. I had really bad back/gas pains when I had both of sections. I'm glad to hear that the pain will eventually subside!
  10. I was banded Friday July 6th at SWLC, so I'm a little over 72 hours post-op. At first I had quite severe back pain, which I was expecting. What I wasn't prepared for is the horrible abdominal pain I'm having. Mostly around the port area. I'm also having a hard time getting fluids in. The fluids go down fine, I'm just experiencing a lot of nauseau. Is this normal? I read so many posts where people seemed to bounce back to their normal selves almost right away. I've had 2 c-sections and I was really not expecting this to be so painful. If you asked me tomorrow which operation I'd rather have I'd most definitely op for the section
  11. Don't be scared It's normal for receipts to be asked for for a suddenly large medical claim. Once you send your receipts you'll be all set! Doddie, sorry for your experience, but not everyone who works for CRA is like that. I doubt you could interact with any company who employs that many people and not hit a bad experience every once in awhile.
  12. Was it just a letter asking you to provide receipts for medical expenses claimed? If so, it is not an audit but simply a routine check. This often happens with things like medical expenses, tuition, rent, child care expenses. Just make sure you send in your receipts on time and you should have absolutely no issue.

    Question?

Hi :welcome: I think it would probably depend what kind and how many surgeries you have had. I've had my gallbladder removed and have a small 3 inch or so incision from that and have had two C-Sections and Dr. C said that doing the procedure would be no problem. Good Luck

    All Pre-Op Dieters...Check In!

Wow, you're so close! I'm not a preop dieter yet with 8 or so weeks until my surgery date. It feels like I should be dieting or something though. Feels kinda weird not having anything do to but wait Best of luck to you!
