    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

NO. No offense at all taken....that is not what I meant. sometimes it is hard to get across your "tone" when saying something...I was just saying that when I started riding my bike I weighed 335 lbs. so, for me to get on my bike at 220, is something to be proud of. I guess living in a bigger town maybe would make me feel differently about others and the snickers. I want to get past the fear of not fitting in with some of the better bikers out there, which is a battle in itself. Like for example, they will call a ride, and say what kind of ride it is, and what the average of speed they excpect....sometimes I can tell by the tone of that what and who they want on the rides. I hate to go and do a 40-50 mile hill ride and hold the others back..because I struggle some still on hills, and will rest when I need to. Endurance is something i am trying to build on. I will have to see how close you are to me....I am in Indiana about 90 miles south of Bloomington. There are allot of good ride right now, and I would love to go to them..so...I have planned on 2 for sure that we are doing in the latter part of this month.... Does your husband ride as well??? That helps if he does. I wish I lived near a gym..would love to go to one. For now, I am walking again at lunch....

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm YOU WEIGH WHAT I WEIGH AND I AM OUT ON THE BIKE????????????!!!!!!!!! JUST SAYN???????????????? I find i dont do as well as some of the lighter weighted people out there, but I dont care. Last year I use to always worry about being the fattest, now..I just wear a comfy jersey that dont hug my fat roll, and just ride. I need more options for my arms that is for sure. I was having allot of elbow pain before, and would love the option of layin into them on a flat ride...although there is not too many of those when we go close... What part of OH are you in?? OH...and color is defiantly important...I refuse to wear my orange shirt with my PURPLE bike now..LOL

carol, I love your bike...and the color wrap..it is nice. Is it a carbon? How do you like the aerobars?? I was thinking about adding them to my bike for next season, but was really wanting to get use to my pedals first, but I think I am now, so??? I also noticed your seat looks short in the nose part....I noticed allot of them are really long, I think even mine is longer. How much are you getting to ride now? I am hoping my DH gets his butt in gear so we can ride today...I was sick all week so I am raring to go. well,sorry...I am excited to see your bike..I really like it

Personal challenge between HP and D!!!

i know what you mean about not riding. I have not rode in over a week, and yet it is sitting there with the sad spokes calling out to me.... It is wonderful here today, so getting rid of the headache from my nasty ass cold, and getting on her. Hoping to get going here shortly I dont think it is even getting above 80.... I am super excited about something....I emailed a person who was an organizer of a ride in Florida. Since I am going to be down there possibly for a month, I thought I would see what kind of ride events I could fine, etc. So....she emailed me back, and she is from Indiana!!!! She works at a bike shop in Florida and organizes several local rides. she has invited me to join them on there sat rides, and has given me some great links as well. I was sooooo happy!!!! I was kind of stressing about being gone that long, but if I can ride with a group when I am there and stay active, it will make my time pass allot faster.. School stinks...I hate it and wish I was not messing with it...but..OH welll...... D...I wish things would calm down for you. I am sure it is hard being so busy..but just look at the final outcome you will have? I think it is going to be awesome for you and your family. I have completed some of my goals I set for the week I walked Thursday and friday at work...2 miles.....and the second day did steps too. My legs were real sore...yikes....but I have not been riding so I needed to get on the ball with something. My soft drinks are slowly being cut...my food intake is less due to restriction and mind set.... So......now...LETS GET THE WEIGHT OFF!!!!!!!!!!! hope everyone is still having a good day!!!

MANATEE...lovE THE NEW BIKE!!!!!!! I cant get over how we get all crazy about our rides, but I know I sure do Love mine....That is how I got my bike....It is a 2007 end of the year bargain (thats what they said...I still think it was pricey) but.....loveee it. I was able to get better components on it by buying it when i did than if I would of bought this years model for the price. I have not rode my bike since a week ago last Wed.I have had all kinds of issues...from my back, to work, to a nasty summer cold....But....I am drugged up, not snottin as badly and headache is slowly moving away..so I plan to hit it today sometime... I missed the group ride, but thats ok....my DH will ride with me...he is such a nice guy.... So, Manatee, where do you live? What state??? It is refressing to see bikes back on the tread again....:lovechoc:

Personal challenge between HP and D!!!

Ok, I am so pissed I just got done typing out this LOOOONG post and hit submit and it just went away!!! What the heck Ok….. So, I am in word and going to write it and then hit copy…LOL I had a fill yesterday. I did loose, which I am glad since I had gained. I am up higher than I planned on being, but that is ok….I am still not where I was a year ago…which is good. So…..I have to be honest here. I don’t think I am going to be able to accomplish the goal I sit against D. There is just not a way to get 22 lbs off in less than a month..short of starving myself and being reallyyyy unhealthy. So……I am modify my goal I am planning on getting at least 10 lbs off by our Oct 6th date. I know this is not what I made a promise for…but….I need to be realistic here. So this is what my new modified goals are: 10 lbs off by October 6 12 lbs off by November 6 That would bring me to 200. Which would make my total loss of 137 pounds That in itself to me is going to be awesome…..cant imagine(OMG CAN I IMAGINE ) So….this is how I am going to do this: Making GOOD POSITIVE CHOICES Starting now….limiting my soft drinks back down to where within in a month am off them again all together by adding in more sugar free drinks and more water……. Walking at least 2 miles each day x 5 (30 min lunch) Getting back on my bike and committing to at least 3 days per week….(modified due to school schedule.) Completing a century ride before December 31. Making sure that food choices are of good value….and limiting eating out While in Florida for the month of October Swimming at least 1 per day in hotel pool..weather permitting Riding at least 3 times per week or more Riding in a organized bike event at least 1 time while there (anyone up for a event) Making good food choices even while eating out…NO KFC CHICKEN Ok…I think these goals are manageable I know it is not easy when we get so close…but you know, I like looking better, I like feeling better, and I don’t want to put back on my weight because I am making poor choices. So…..these are my goals, my bible to live by for the next few months and I appreciate all of you here being so supportive of me and encouraging….. Together…we are all going to get to our goals….step my step…..

    Hello...Again!

it is very frustrating when you are not loosing as fast as we first were. I am at the point where every pound seems to be a struggle. I know that everything that comes my way I have to be in control of me to not eat it. But, you know the one thing I feel is our problems, is we know the tricks of how we can eat around it and get what we want..which is old bad habits. So....We have to put those OLD shots up...put them up everywhere you are at...and than the new shots right next to them...LOOK at the difference.....it is all worth it... Get a fill......I usually am checked at least every 4-8 weeks..fill or no fill.... Good luck Traci in Indiana
  9. good luck!!!! I can understand why he is saying this, but he should work with you not against you. I agree that maybe temporally getting on days would make it happen maybe??? I wish you luck, and I understand about the small town...

well, I am planing on a good ride tommorow evening, but we are excpecting rain??? I have paired up with a lady that works with my husband and am starting to walk at lunch again. I had to stop because of the issue I had at my workplace last year and I am ready to tackle the streets again even if I have to avoid certain areas. So, I got a fill yesterday. It is the first in a long time...and it has defiantly made a change in my consumption today.... BG and J...I sure do wish my kids were as excited for school as yours...Rebecca is a freshman and the last of grade school is behind me. Kind of sad....I remember those happy smiles too...sure dont get them any more Hope everyone is doing well Hello Messhultz!!!!!!!!

    Frantic - please help!!!!!!!

FIRST OF ALL...ughhh I had the whole reply submitted and the site timed out.... But anyway. First of all and my main point is this YOUR HEALTH IS THE FIRST AND UPMOST IMPORTANT THING HERE. why are you not in surgery right now???? I had a friend who's band slipped, and they told him before he went in that there was a chance they would be taking out the band depending on the outcome when he got in surgery. It was being held on with 1 stitch and he was able to save the band. Of course they are re doing it a little at a time, and taking it slow.... So...my question to you is this.... How have you changed your diet? How has your lifestyle changed since you first got the band? Are you able to continue with the habits you are currently doing and maintain a healthy weight? With that being said......if it is your health, and your band comes out..than you work it out and stay positive and stay active to keep the weight off. Now, about the financial part.....IF you end up having to pay a part of the surgery or whatever...than you work a payment plan out with the doctor or the hospital. But, this should not stop you from getting this surgery...even if it is getting a new band and owing money for it......You are the only one that can answer the tough questions..... You know what you can tolerate and what you cant. I wish you the best of luck, and please keep us informed of your choice.... Traci in Indiana
  12. get a new surgeon!! WTH??? He can't tell you what shift your job can have you one as a determinating factor..give me a break??? Maybe it is HIS opinion, but goodness. I do know that it may be hard being on nites, but it isnt like we get to choose what shift we work. You can do this if you want to...it is a personal choice, and you know what...the people who work days have the same issues to deal with as those who work nites....it is just light out.... Please......dont give up....keep fighting even if you have to look for a new surgeon... Traci in Indiana

hey that is better than it could be.I think we all reach areas where we kind of stop loosing maybe we are toning or building muscle? I dont know..I do know it is frustrating as heck. I am saying that the time last week when I lost was due to water weight and just being so swelled up from all the salt and stuff from eating out all the time. I am still holding it though..but I also am not exercising and not at all watching what I am drinking.....YES.....I know Keep up the good work..it WILL start coming off...I think we need to kick some stuff in the butt and get loosing again or we are going to be unhappy campers..LOL I need to run to H depot with hubby be back

    Trikke

i dont have one, but know some people that do and love them. It is all personal preference The guy I know who has one has fallen, but not seriously hurt himself by any means. At least it is shorter to the ground than off a normal road bike... I use a road bike, but had started with a hybrid bike. If you get a bike, have a great time on it and make sure you get you a helmet.... Traci

Personal challenge between HP and D!!!

hello Well, I thought I was not going to get to ride tonight, as I did something to my back and it is killing me. It is below my waist, and it almost feels like a kidney infection, but hurts more like a hurt back.... But...we went anyway...and rode about 6.5 miles and than Rebecca and I told her dad we would meet him at this convience store...but if we werent there to just follow the way home an we would catch up with him there. Well...these hills have been hills that I have always walked even this season of riding. They are long and steep. BUT I am so pleased to say, even with my back hurting we kept at it and made it. I was y extremely pleased. We only ended up with 13.5 miles, but it was like doing 35 on flats... I am extremely pleased that my daughter chose this over conditioning at school too. She even said it was better, and her coach told her this would count for her. Anyway...I have lost some of the weight I had put on last week..Gosh I was on the scale on Sunday it was 229...I totally freaked. Today I am back down to 221. I changed my ticker to show the gain....but..I am not planning on weighing in again now until MOnday...well...thats a holiday, so we will see.... I am happy to be back on my bike and it feels so good outside we are having a very mild august TL..you are doing so good.....I cant believe you are running..I want to do that to...if we didnt live on gravel it would be easier and I hate to do it at work....
