    looking for people who cycle

hi Lisa!!!!! WOW.....pretty impressive.....I have been watching the biking tours in Vermont, and would love to save money to be able to do that sometime in the next couple of years. I am from Indiana, so it will take me a little longer to get there, but would just love to be able to make it happen. I was actually thinking of planning a 20 year anniversery trip there. Anyway...I started with a Trek hybrid in the summer of 2007....after I lost 100 i bought a trek 2100...she is pretttyyyyy....purple and silver specs...she shines in the sun...anyway..... My husband rides a Giant road bike and our 14 year old currently is riding a trek fx...she is wanting a road bike for next season though, so we are planning on looking come feb I think your commuting is awesome.....would love to be able to do that, but we live in the rural parts of Indiana and are about 45 miles from the base....allot of gravel roads.... But...we also have been talking about Mountain bikes.....Deanna that posted above ride them with her husband and loves them..... Well...it was great that you posted...please dont be a stranger

    How much walking after surgery

WALK, WALK AND WALK SOME MORE....take it easy...but let me tell you it helps to prevent gas pain in your shoulders..and it is well worth it. as far as fitness walking...I was able to get back to normal, pull the hill type walking by week 2.....I would tire allot easier...but???? Not sure if that was surgery, or my lack of proper exercise....:grouphug: good luck all of you....Traci

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

thats right you mentioned something about going to Texas.....I bet that was amazing....how is your friend adjusting to the band so far?? I have not rode since Saturdays ride, but it has been pretty windy here, which I decieded I would skip....Hoping to maybe get in a short ride after class today. Hope all is doing well......this thread is getting so quiet..we need to invite some new people in to talk...but I think it has ran several away instead of keeping them....NO BIKE TALK...:Dancing_biggrin:
  6. hi....relax...it is really no worse than getting a small shot. They numb the area and than the needle is put in with the solution. I have only had 1 that was an issue and that was becuase my port had tilted..but since than, it was fine. My only advice is make sure you follow the instructions they give you for after the fill. very important. If you are like me, I live far away from the doctors office(3 hours) and I dont want to do something wrong and end up back up there for a unfill. Which BTW....I have not had yet.... Relax..and make the most out of the fill. I know that my first fill did not have immediate effect on me and it takes several before you get to that "sweet spot".... GOod luck.... Traci
  7. thanks!!! they are by far the easiest and best way for me to get it in as well. I am a year out and still use them during bike rides when I am not eating allot.

mary Fall riding is wondeful...this is my second season doing so, and there is nothing better than the crisp air hitting you...wow...sometimes it gets reallllllyyyy cold.... But...I am planning on going with a lady that is from Indiana that lives here now...there group is camping and riding at White Springs Fl on the weekend..so...breaking out of comfort zone and just doing it. Also signed up for a event next weekend...May as well stay busy doing something I love. As far as the trainer...there are different kinds but J is right about the tires. I know using a trainer at home is cheaper for me and closer to home.....no worthwhile gyms near me that is reasonable to drive to. Being at home I know it will stare at me in the face, but I am planning on a schedule to make sure I do it....LOL Off to class see you all later

true...also really go to nashbar as well...they usually have good deals and offer coupons for either 20% off or free shipping I like it, but it is boring. Make sure you either have your head gear on or are watching tv. I like to have the music on I saw you posted in the June area... I know what you mean about certain things going down easier....habits are awful to break, and we make it harder sometimes on ourselves... have a good trip to texas

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

I will not let this thread die, so dont worry and come on back....we miss you!!! I bought a trainer off craigslist...they also have them at nashbar.com Get the fluid trainer and not the magnetic one..they are allot quieter. They go up in price but we bought ours used for $50..and it retailed for $100...I think...??? John uses it more than me, but I will during the winter so I don't have to start all over.....like this year. I need to get some fall and winter riding gear...because allot of our friends still ride during the winter months weather above 30 that is....so..we will need to start looking. Good luck looking for your trainer.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

No, not at all.....just very dependent on John and realizing I need to take care of myself if I want to make this work.... The thought of the cab never crossed my mind....and I would of taken it...the mosq. here are awful..... I am glad I am not a part of the 80% of people you say live in a large city....Not interested at all...love my country living and wonderful country air....this city stuff is for the birds. Nice to hear you miss your riding....

and no sense paying to take a class at the LBS allot of us dont live near big cities that offer it. Allot you can learn from someone you are riding with if you have the luxury of doing so.....I am 60 miles from a bike shop that offers that back home.. Just saying....

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

well, just to clarify.....Since I am married and normally ride with my spouse, we together always have the things we need to take care of the maintenance on the bikes. We both carry tubes and he usually carries the extra canisters of air, etc....Since this is my first time being away from him and the normal riding we do, it is just something that needed to be purchased, yet had not done so before the flat. I know how to change a flat, just had never had one to do before... I still prefer riding with my Husband, but it is nice to know I am capable of doing things as a single person as well...dont like it and I hope I dont have to do it often, but it is nice to know it can be accomplished. It truly is comical how much we take for granted.....I am still glad I brought my bike, wouldn't of had it any other way...but I am sure glad I have a husband that rides with me for the most part..sure makes it allot more enjoyable. have a great evening

well just to let all you fellow bikers know....make sure you have what you need to change your tire.... had my very first flat today in good ole florida! Of course I have a good floor pump...in the car......7.25 miles away from where I start....Husband always takes the stuff we need to do flats, and we never had one yet. So...the ride was going so good....went up 3 larger bridges, just to have to walk my butt back to base......so...flat at 7.25 miles, and had to walk back 7.25...I am poooppped. But went to the bike store, and they fixed my flat, and I got what I need to take care of ME on the ride. WOW....long day....good experience and a good lesson. Happy Tuesday...
