  1. Days 1,2 & 3 of Protein Challenge: Got in at least 90 grams of protein all three days. Haven't had time to post everyday because of work and/or training for the 12K. Survived the 12K today and then went to Church, just waiting for them to post the times online as this idiot didn't look at her watch when she crossed the start line. Maybe the next race I'll remember to time myself, LOL. Can't wait to hear what the next challenge will be as this is helping me to stay on my plan.

  2. Angelnurse, thank you for your idea. It is a very good one. I did not think of that, I'm ashamed to admit. But yes, those of you on liquids I apologize for omitting you. Please join our challenge by making sure that you get the required amount of Protein each day. Since that varies so much from doctor to doctor, I will not set a minimum amount as we did with the solid food. We will just say, to meet the challenge daily you need to drink the amount of protein that your doctor suggests each day. Angelnurse, if this is not what you meant, or if you can improve upon this in anyway, I'll appreciate further comments. Thanks again.,

Wynn, This is exactly what I meant. Some of us, myself included, can be a little tight in the am or "pressed" for time and need to or choose to drink their protein at times, so I count the grams of protein in my Protein Powder and if I use skim milk, I count the grams of protein in that too. Most doctors want you to get "solid" protein, but sometimes you can't get enough in the food you eat and have to "supplement" with a Protein Shake or Protein Bar.< /p>

  3. Day 5 of Exercise Challenge: Did 30 min. on the elliptiKILL this morning after work, would of pushed myself & done more, but had an appointment at 9 am. Left knee doing okay, will probably have to wear my brace for the 12K on Sunday, but....Hope you all are doing well with your exercising. Bonnie, sorry to hear about your fall, hope you are okay. XOXOXO

  4. Day 1 of Exercise Challenge: Just got back from an 8-mile walk/jog. Very happy that I finished in under 2 hours, but decided that I'm too friggin' old for this, LOL. After next Sunday, I think I'll go back to leisurely walks or bike rides. Good Luck 2 everyone on the challenge.

  5. Okay guys, we just completed day 3 of the journalling challenge. How did everyone do? It was a bit of an eye opener for me, cause I have a tendency to be a little lazy about journalling. But I did notice I was a lot more careful about what I ate when I knew that I'd have to write it down. My daughter, who is not banded and who does not need to diet has joined in on the challenges as well, just for the sake of good eating habits and health. She has realized just how much sugar and calories she takes in when she drinks soda. She tells me that she had just 4 oz of rootbeer today because she knew she was going to have to document the calories and she didn't want it to add up to too much. Now that's the power of journalling. Let's all try to keep it up.

Tomorrow starts a new challenge, and as I stated in yesterday's post, the credit for this one goes to Mi_Illusion. This is an exercise challenge and it is for 5 days. Thirty minute minimum doing the exercise of your choice. If you are newly banded, please do not exercise without asking your doctor if it is ok, and please do not start a new exercise regimen without checking with your doc first, also.

Please let us know what you do, and how you do by posting.

    Love you all,

    Wynn

Wynn, Did gr8 w the journaling for 3 days and looking forward 2 the exercise challenge, as I'm training for a 12K that I signed-up 4 on next Sunday. Do u want us 2 post daily or @ the end of the challenge? Thanks again 4 all u do!

  6. Hi chatters. Day three today and I'm done with 7 glasses of Water so far. I have plenty of time to finish that last glass, in fact, looks like I'll go over today.

Before I give the next challenge, please leg me encourage you to keep up the good habits you're developing through these challenges. The first was no snacking and I know we only did that one for one day, but perhaps it will help us if we come back to it again from time to time. And the second was the water. So if you are not snacking, and you are drinking all of your water then you'll be getting super skinny in no time.

OK, ready for the next challenge:

Journalling. This will also be a three day challenge and it is to write down every single thing you eat. There are some online places that you can use. I understand thedailyplate.com is a good site. I use sparkpeople.com because it is a complete weight loss website where i can get a lot of different kinds of support just like lbt. Plus they have a yuma team so I can actually exercise with members etc. But please, if you don't like these then find your own or for that matter you can journal on a piece of paper (old school).

Good luck everybody. See you in Chat!

Wynn, I'm in for the next challenge. I got in over 100 ounces of water per day for the last challenge, but thankfully I've never had a problem getting my water in. Keep the challenges coming as this is helping me to get back on track, thanks again!

  7. Okay everybody, first day, first challenge. How's it going for everyone? I had a rough start, I woke up sooo hungry, and when I went into the kitchen my son, Sammy, had left birthday cake from his girlfriend's party on the counter. I almost went on automatic pilot and grabbed a little bite to hold me until I could go get Joseph and get breakfast. Then I remembered my challenge and since the whole thing was my idea I sorta thought maybe I shouldn't.

Well, I managed to wait. I drove to get Joseph and I came home and made us all a healthy breakfast.

I hope you're all doing as well in the challenge. Let us know how it goes for you.

I already have some ideas for tomorrow's challenge. I'm so excited about this. My daughter is accepting the challenge today, also and she isn't even banded, or on a diet. Isn't that terrific. Yay for Kelly!

    Keep up the good work.

Oh, and thanks tm, and thanks bonnie for your posts. Bonnie, so sweet of you to support us when you can't do the challenge yet. What a lady!

Wynn, I'm in for the challenges, I need something to kick-start me back onto the "band-wagon". I'll try to post when I can. Thanks so much for doing this, I hope it helps everyone.

  8. lellow-I had a lower body lift a little over a year ago & I didn't wear any underwear under my compression garment. My doctor has everyone wear them next to the skin, it compresses the incisions better & they need to be tight w/o any wrinkles. If you wore underwear, the waistband would probably rub on the incisions. Your doctor will let you know what he/she wants.

  9. I need the some serious good vibes sent my way...in just 21 days I'm headed under the knife for my lower body lift and breast lift with augmentation. I'm really starting to freak out. I recently separated from my husband and I'm really scared about the recovery. I won't have someone with me 24/7. I hate pain and I know that I will be in some serious, serious pain. YIKES. Send me some good, non painful vibes!!! Thanks everyone.:huh2:

Mum, Good Luck with your surgery. I had a lower body lift a little over a year ago and have no regrets. Sorry to hear about your marriage though. My Doctor would not let me go home unless I had someone with me 24/7 for 5 days. Hope you can get someone to come & stay as it really helped me. I wasn't able to shower w/o help, as I needed someone to take off the compression garment, dry me off & put on another garment. It was also helpful with getting in & out of bed & going to the bathroom.

  10. Quennee,

I had a lower body lift a year ago. The recovery is different for everyone, but it was harder than I thought. I had to take off 2 months from work & the gym. I would swell so much after being up all day, but you may not have that problem. The surgery was also more painful than I thought it would be, but everyone has a different pain threshold, so...Good Luck with your surgery. It is so worth all the pain though, so go for it! I was a size 12 b4 the surgery & within a few weeks was able to fit into a size 8 jeans. Now can wear a 6/8 & never thought I'd be that small. Hope you have as good of results as I did.

  11. I wish it was that simple for me. I haven't had a bath in 27

years since my mom made me take one because she thought I would fall down in the shower after my C section.

    showers only for me.

    Denise,

Have you tried taking Probiotics on a daily basis, thereby maintaining a healthy bacteria in your body. I've only had one vaginal yeast infection due to antibiotics and have had chronic bronchitis and been on lots of antibiotics in my day. I used to take acidolphilus every day, but there are much better Probiotics on the market now. I take one called acidophilus pearls, made by Enzymatic, they are very small & easy to take. Their website is www.trupearls.com Worth a try? Good luck!

  12. Angel Nurse,

    Thank you for your reply.

The mass is still there and even if I shouldn't worry about it, I do.

It is at the site where my port used to be. It is where the drain was and I'm sure where they removed the band, port and stomach. I don't know that it has gotten any bigger, but it is large. It was there when I left the hospital. My husband and I joked about it being the head of a baby. Anyway, there is no heat or redness. I don't have a fever. The incision seems to be healing well (no redness or swelling of the actual incision line).

My pants that were too big before surgery are tight in the waist, even though I am down 10 lbs since surgery.

My surgery was done in Mexicali so I would have to go to a doctor that may not know anything about this surgery. He may not know what is normal. Also, I'm sure I would have to pay for any treatment, so...don't want to act too quickly.

Now, here is a theory. I have lost all of my excess weight, plus some. I had a Tummy Tuck last March. Could it be that it's just that I have no excess skin for the mass to 'hide' in? I wonder if I would have even noticed it if I had all the skin I used to have on my stomach.

    What do you think?

    4meonly,

Can you call your doc in MX? How large a "mass" are we talking about? It's probably just scar tissue, but if it was me, I'd want to make sure everything was okay.

  13. Inamed actually has 4 sizes of bands. First generation: 2 sizes, 9.75 and 10.0, which both have a 4cc balloon, the inflatable area isn't circumferential (all the way around) the band. Second generation: VG (VanGard), which has a 10cc balloon and the inflatable area is 340 degrees around. Third generation: AP (Advanced Placement) which has a 10-14cc balloon and the inflatable area is a full 360 degrees around. Your doctor usually chooses the band on these 5 factors: gender, BMI, height, intraoperative evaluation and stomach fat. Hope this helps.

  14. As a Nurse, I wouldn't suggest partaking of the bread until you are able to eat solid food. The first 6 weeks after surgery you are healing and the band is "settling". I was on liquids for 3 weeks, so abstained for those 3 weeks, then when started on soft food able to take a small piece and chew it very well. This is just my opinion as a Nurse and experienced bandster, so you can do whatever you want.:biggrin2:

  15. Well, just wanted to post a few things as follow up on my thread. I was going to post some 4 month pictures, but I had to have an emergency band removal surgery last Thursday. They were able to place a new band on, thank goodness! But, they perforated my stomach doing it, so I am on liquids for the next 30 days and then on a new bandsters diet. I had lost 11 of the 20 I wanted to get off, so I guess that now is my perfect opportunity. LOL. Not the way I wanted to have it happen. I'm a little depressed because I was just getting back into my exercise and feeling like I did before my PS. Oh well. Now, I have 6 new scars on my new flat tummy. I think I will give it a few months before I take a bikini shot, but maybe a clothed shot would show the progress? I guess you never know what life is going to through at you. My band slipped and my stomach was totally blocked. I was in so much pain, I didn't really care what they did, I was actually looking forward to the anesthesia! I guess it was a fairly life threatening situation, but luckily it wasn't my time to go. If you're struggling with too tight a band, you might want to rethink sticking it out. Being too tight can lead to slippage. More later...

    Karey,

So sorry to hear about your band but it sounds like they got it fixed in time. Thank goodness! I am glad that I have never been too tight as some people are, it means a little slower weight loss, but less chance of a slip. Take care and know that I'm thinking of you and wishing you a quick recovery.

  16. Hello,

Has anyone out there ever had a port revision? I had the surgery back in Jan and went in for a fill and the Dr could not find my port to do the fill. He took an xray and to his findings my port was fliped so I have to go back to surgery for him to repair the port. Is this normal????

My port flipped, my doctor found this out while trying to give me a fill. As far as I know, this can happen, but isn't "normal". I am his only patient that this has happened to, just my luck. It's been two years since the port revision and I haven't had any problems with the port. I had a lower body lift 6 months ago and the only difference is that my port scar is now much lower than my actual port, as the plastic surgeon took off over 12 inches on my abdomen. Good luck with your revision.

  17. Alright Angelnurse! How's the exercise going? I love botox and think it helps tremendously without looking like you've really done anything. At least that's my experience with it. I'm wondering if anyone has heard the "new" research that Botox can leech into the brain and cause some serious side affects like memory problems, co-oridnation problems, etc? My husband swears he heard a news report about it. I haven't heard anything, but thought I'd ask the PS.

    Karey,

Haven't heard anything about the Botox getting into the brain, but...

As for the exercise, I'm back on track, had a hard time after the LBL, with the swelling, but today I worked-out, w/o my compression garment for the first time. I kind of felt like my butt was gonna fall off, but I did better than I thought. Just not used to all the numbness in the backside. I've found a new addiction, Turbo Jam, just love it, although I found out how uncoordinated I really am, LOL. How are you doing after your PS? How was the wedding? Hope things are well with you and yours.
