I never dreamed I would actually be sitting here saying it has been 2 years since my sleeve and I have never been happier....except for the excess skin...my only negative, but I will take it!! The swimsuit pic is my step-daughter and me 2 years after surgery... the other is my husband and I 2 months after my surgery. Lets hear and see some other great post-op stories!!

I did it fairly slowly...started out 10 lbs per month the first 4 to 5 months, then 3 to 5lbs...until I reached 130 from 222 (again, the dr. expected me to only get around 160). Now I fluctuate between 127 - 131...my lowest being 125. Do NOT rush it! It will happen, but the slower the better for your body to keep up is my opinion. You also need the time to learn how to eat better and healthier. It took me a long time forcing myself to eat 5x per day small amounts. Even when you don't feel like eating, eat! When you don't feel like parking in the back of the lot at the grocery store or the mall (cold/raining/HOT)...do it; When you are shopping and don't know what the heck a certain vegetable is, buy it and try it! That is my new motto

Not at all...But by the time you get some appetite back, you should be on a road that "food" is not the most important thought of the day. At least that is where I am! Good luck to you and I hope all your dreams come true!

I have found I hide it better with a tan....lol To be honest, my goal was 145. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would get there, let alone to where I am at. I don't think my dr. did either I don't know if I do it "right", but I have pretty much given up red meat. I eat Soups, minimal chicken, fish, baked veggies and drink lots of Water. I do not "think" about food, eating out is a waste of money, especially when you can't find healthy options (and the salads they serve are NOT always heathy!) I have learned that quantity is my downfall...I eat 1 to 2 cups 3x per day. I snack on fruits and veggies whenever I think I am hungry and never deny myself "food". I still do not tolerate milk products which is good because I loved ice cream and cheese. I used to buy butter like crazy...I now buy 1 lb every 4 months. I bake veggies with olive oil and seasonings like crazy!!! Other than that, I keep very busy at work and like to go to the water parks and swimming. Glad I live in Texas for that!

In June I'll be three years post op, I am still surprised at how quickly I can drop a few pounds. I'm still below Dr. D's goal of 150, but I hoover (sp?) around 147, just a couple of pounds above MY personal goal. A few days ago I thought, I'm going to alter my calories just a little and see what happens. I almost always keep a food log, but I've been especially dedicated this week. I've gone up and down a little, which is normal for me, but this morning I got up and weighed 145.7. Whoooo whooo! I normally need 1200 - 1300 to maintain, I have been closer to eating 1300, maybe a little over, since Christmas and my weight has creeped up a few lbs, one time I was 151, and that totally was NOT OK!!!!! LoL This week I cut it back to 1100 - 1150. I do not feel deprived at all, I basically cut out a snack. Yesterday though, my Protein was a little over 95 grams and total calories were 1034. Wow....and it feels as though I grazed all day but I kept track!! The cincher was dinner. I'd planned on making a chicken rice a roni casserole. I use Greek yogurt in it, half lite sour cream and half yogurt. It's topped with 2% cheddar.....it's not horrible, and I eat less than 3/4 a cup....but, there are still more calories than I really wanted. When I was at the grocery store I stumbled across a package of cooked, tail on shrimp in the meat dept. It looked sooooo good, it was half price because it had to be sold by today. I snatched it up and steamed it for dinner. Nothing else, cocktail sauce and shrimp. I made 6.5 oz but could only eat 4 oz at dinner. I saved the rest and THAT was a snack later on. That put me way over the top for protein. I am sure this helped with getting me down a pound from yesterday morning. (Yes, I weigh every single morning......for almost three years now!!
I just wanted to share this......it is still pretty simple to lose a few pounds just by making a few good choices, NOT a diet, just a choice!!!! A half cup of cottage cheese for Breakfast with about a quarter cup of pineapple 'tidbits'. Breakfast of champions!!!

Awesome work! You look amazing! Congrats on your weight loss!
I hope I reach goal soon and go into maintenance. I realize its going to take a lot of hard work and patience from my side to shed this last 20+ lbs. Do you have any tips? Did you do anything special when you were close to goal? How do you feel in the maintanence phase? Did you have any ups and downs or have you been maintaining pretty much at goal? Would love to learn from a veteran like you!
I know the excess skin issue is totally personal - but if mine looked like your's does in the picture, I'll be thrilled! I have HORRIBLY saggy skin in my arms and thighs. Around my belly - it is somewhat tolerable, but the stretch maks are awful! I'll be getting an arm and thigh life in a month or so (fingers crossed!). I'll get a Tummy Tuck a year later, probably.
