Byetta? Has Anyone Used It?
Patrick Curl replied to I am done mooing!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so thankful that I'm getting surgery next month - while I'm in great physical shape so that I don't get diabetes @ 650 pounds, and as much sugar as I eat--my pancreas can only hold out for so many years...it's gotta be a matter of time. My wife just found out she was diabetic, so I really feel for your situation. Hope you have great results with the sleeve -and can get off your meds eventually. -
Haha @ care less...that's for sure... we could be on fire and still care less.

Places to get liquid protein samples
Patrick Curl replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Visalus is NOT a good option because it is SOY protein which is bad because of something to do with Estrogen - it raises Estrogen levels which can cause weight gain. -
The ingredients in Sensa aren't proprietary or anything - ie found in a lot of places. According to WebMD there's no Studies done - the company did a sponsored trial but that doesn't really say anything and those are easily tampered with. Truth be told after being sleeved you won't need any fad stuff like Sensa. I wouldn't waste your money, instead just work on getting a lot of protein in and low calories/carbs. just my humble opinion.

ok...first the lovenol injections freaked me out...but people said it didn't hurt much... But sticking a tube up my junk...This is the first thing making me second guess the surgery it does NOT sound pleasant at all... How does that not hurt coming out? On a pain scale what is it a 10 being: "Nurse, just cut it off I don't want the pain anymore, consider it a souvenir", and a 1 being "eh...nurse I don't think it's out yet.. you can keep playin' with my junk" lmao.

Getting Pissed Off!
Patrick Curl replied to NEVA907's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Um.. that's kind of the point.. of sleeve -- to force you into compliance when you still "want" to eat more.. You're early on in this journey, so just take your time and have patience - it'll all be worth it in the end. I'm still pre-op, but I'm totally excited about my surgery and can't wait. I wish you the best of success in your journey! -
16 Mos Out...disappointed
Patrick Curl replied to tntransplant06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm no expert, but I'm on a liquid diet now - pre-op and I'm eating 800 calories and not really that hungry. The key is to totally cut out sugary foods.. they are a cancer -they make you crave more sweets.andmore....etc.. every time I've tried low-carb I'm never really hungry and sometimes have to force myself to eat.. If all else fails -- go back to the basics try your post-op diet for a couple of weeks- nothing but liquids and Protein. It may help to reset your metabolism, and shrink your appetite. -
Awesome! I can't wait to be able just shop @ Walmart, Target.

So...preop Diet Tanked But Lost 5 Lbs.
Patrick Curl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I ate my fave mexican tonight and kansas city bbq last night about 2500 cals/day instead of 800 the first 3 days. Tomorrow I'm rebooting. But I've still managed to lose 7 lbs since tues. A lot of that is definitely Water weight. At 660 I've got a lot of swelling. Anyhow theres an update on my progress. I bought some advantage eas shakes to try. I want to lower my carb content below 50 gs. Does anyone else here find the weekend especially hard to stick with your diet? -

I'm doing good.. EAS Protein shakes bout make me barf though.. -- and slimfast has too much sugar - gonna finish off the ones I have now @ 1 max per day, and then get skim milk to mix my powder in. Also gonna try unflavored mixed with broth. and I have an unjury sample pack that I haven't tried yet. Diet today: 1 eas advantage shake 1 scoop ON Gold whey 1 Slimfast 1 MCD Premium salad (20 carb, 30 protein) So far so good! (It's when I get in my car and drive past all the fast food joints that I'm in the most danger lol) -
That sucks that your fam isn't that supportive. MY aunt had RNY so we've been through this before.

Patrick Curl replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well - I'm self-pay so don't want to be out of the money, and not be able to get the surgery - a little anxious about that.. another reason for my self-imposed diet I don't wanna mess this up lol. This is like my only and last chance it feels like. You can do it... just takes some motivation - -make a list of all the things you're fighting for - and look at it daily that is what keeps me going. Yeah agree there, this isn't for life just for a year or two, then can have normal / kid-size amounts of my favorite foods again. Which I'm good with. Yeah, for me it's not that the doctor ordered it but that I ordered it because I want to be as healthy as possible when I hit that operating table. Why put my life on the line when I can help it, or jeapordize the surgery. I mean my doctor probably has reasons why he doesn't do the pre-op, but I can prepare my best for it - plus I'm nervous about being able to do the post-op so if I practice it before hand, when I get there it'll be easier. Also if I can lose 50 pre-op, then another 50 in a month or two post -op, I'll reach my goal of 400s' by my Birthday and that would be AWESOME. -
