  1. Sorry you are having some trouble getting everything in, but considering everything you have been through, I think you are doing great! I still struggle to get my fluids AND Protein in. I get close, but some days, MAN I get sick of thinking about counting Protein grams!!!biggrin.gif

I think you will have an easier time of it when you get on mushies, like you said. I hope so!

Good luck and let us know how you do. Oh, and girl, get those calories UP!!! You need them. If you are doing all SF stuff, try laying off that a while so you can get your calories up where they should be. Did your DR tell you how many calories you should be getting now since you have had all this trouble? I know it is hard though. Don't get down on yourself whatever you do. I know you are doing your best!!!smile.gif

  2. Right there with ya and I am past the 4 month mark. food used to be one of my main focuses of the day. Now, it actually annoys me to have to eat. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, we will go somewhere and there will be this fabulous spread of food and smell terrific and I actually get excited about getting to eat some, but then, in just a few bites, it's all over...lol.

I am thinking this is a good thing, though, right? I miss not eating, but at the same time, I am glad the hunger is not there.smile.gif

  3. Thank you Kelly!! Man.. this must be why i hit a stop in my weight loss.. even though I have been exercising and drinking and all that....... I been trying to do low carb low fat .. low everything lol .. thank you for this list!

Where do you get the foster farm meatballs and the salmon burgers??

Yes, I think you are being to hard on yourself!!biggrin.gif

it is hard to do low-fat AND low-carb. You would be counting grams of everything constantly...lol.

Good luck. It sounds like you are going to do great!

  4. I would think watermelon would be in that category. It mushes down to nothing and is a great source of fluids, too. I can eat an entire watermelon in a few days (of course I only eat the good middle partsmile.gif)

Be careful, though, if you watch carbs because I have heard watermelons are high in carbs.

I never get my fluids in by the end of the day, so watermelon is my evening 'treat' to help with that!

  5. I think the difference in a TT and a panni is that with the TT the muscles underneath are also tightened and with the panni it is just the skin that is removed. Not 100% positive though. I wish my insurance would cover a panni because I have heard of people going in for the panni and paying the difference to get a full TT.

I wish you luck in whatever you decide. smile.gif

  6. I usually am suspect of all these "miraculous" weight loss stories of the stars, too. But case in point, I could have SWORN Kirstie Alley had WLS the first time she lost weight, then she gained it back, then she lost it, then gained it back and now she's lost it again partly due to dancing with the stars. So that reminds me of ME before VSG. Yo yo-ing. Although this time, she lost it REALLY fast, so I am thinking maybe she actually did have WLS this time. Who knows?biggrin.gif

  7. Thanks everyone for all of your positive thoughts. I will say that all of the rumors about the second day are 100% true. For some reason, I didn't think that I would have to go through all of that because my first day went so well...boy was I ever wrong!!

Basically I've been throwing up anything I try to get down since 5 this morning. They also made me stay an extra night so that they could get the nausea and pain under control. Finally about an hour ago, the charge nurse came waltzing in my room with two syringes. I have no idea what was in them, but I've been cured! I definitely recommend having a supportive person with you because it can be rough and the nurses just don't have time to come in your room every time that you throw up.

I will admit that sometime this afternoon I honestly asked myself if I had made a huge mistake. I know everyone goes through this, but for everyone who is just starting this journey, know that those feelings will eventually go away. Make sure you advocate for yourself and have them try as many different drugs as possible so that YOU are comfortable.

Again, thanks for all of your happy thoughts and kind words. Know that I'm sending more out your way too :)

Sorry your second day was not as easy as the first, but it will get better every day. Glad that nurse with the mystery syringes came along!!!

To answer your original question, you will start feeling major restriction when you start mushies and get on a regular diet.

Hope you have an uneventful rest of recovery!smile.gif

  8. I've had some people inquire about surgery in Mexico and wasn't sure what to tell them. How much does Dr. Aceves charge for a sleeve? As in your total out-of-pocket expense not including air fare. How long are you down there for? And what is the minimum BMI that he will take for a patient. Thanks for any help.

Dr. Aceves told me the lowest BMI they will consider for surgery is 30...of course they may make exceptions if someone is on the edge of a 30 BMI....smile.gif

  9. Can some of the 'pros' give me some pointers for posting pics? I looked and could not figure it out. I found one place where you could add a picture, but it would not take my 'link' in the actual post. I would like to know how to post the pics in the body of the post.

I have a MacBook if that makes any difference in the directions I need to follow. I am no good with these types of things. I don't even know where I should save the pics on my computer in order to post them later.rolleyes.gif Right now, they are in Apple 'pages' and on my desktop.

    Thanks for any info!!smile.gif

  11. I had a reduction 6 years ago and let me tell you, I was in so much pain, I would not want to go through that again for ANYTHING. So like everyone else already said, just wait if you can because if you lose any weight after you have it, and you WILL lose more weight, you are gonna be sagging and need a lift. I understand about the pain, because I had it, too, but try and get some extra supportive bras until you finish your weight loss.

On the plus side, the more weight you lose, hopefully that will alleviate some of the pain because the girls will be smaller.biggrin.gif

    Good lucksmile.gif
