  1. Well, everyone is different, but if your job is really an active one, a month would be great. I didn't need that long off, but my job is not very physical and I was fine. I did not get my energy back for at least a month, but again, if you don't have a demanding job, you will be fine going back earlier. But I would take the month since your mom has agreed to help.

    Good luck to yousmile.gif

  2. I think you are doing very well, too. It is almost impossible to do a 'low carb' diet without taking in more fat. Most low carb foods have fat. cheese, meat, eggs, etc. And for no more than we can eat at each sitting, I won't torture myself by eating lowfat ( which equals children's paste) items like sour cream, cream cheese, etc. The full fat versions of these items won't kill me when I can only eat a tsp of them =)

Don't come down so hard on yourself. You are gonna get to goal in no time and don't let your Dr. pressure you. You are losing just fine.smile.gif

  3. Interesting, I wonder if they work. Normally, the hair loss is from the trauma of surgery and lack of Protein. I wonder how these would help prevent or slow Hair loss.< /p>

I agree about the trauma of surgery being a possible culprit, although I have had many surgeries without any hair loss at all. I think it's the shock of losing so much so fast and taking in so few calories. I don't think the Protein has much to do with it as I lost about half my hair volume once while on the Atkins diet after losing a lot of weight very quickly. And believe you me, I was eating TONS of protein. I was also taking lots of Vitamins (since I wasn't getting many veggies and NO fruit on the diet) and those did not stop the hair loss either.

Sadly, I think it's just gonna come out no matter what we do. And Vitamins, especially Biotin will help it grow back, but won't keep in from falling out.

I wasn't taking any of the flaxseed oils or niotin, so I can't speak on their helping or not.

  4. I am 8 months out and the only time I do not take my PPI is when I forget to buy it and run out! DUH! but I do have a concern, as I saw on a show, not sure which one, about long term use and liver damage. Do any of you have the same concern? I would love to wean off, but do not want the hunger to return, I do not get heart but but do get the noisy acid churn when I forget to take it, so I know that I am still producing lots of acid.

I was also wondering about this. There is a commercial for Prilosec (I think) where there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen in teeny tiny writing about how you should only take this medicine for 14 days unless your Dr. says you should take it longer. Well, that worries me. I mean, even if the Dr. says you can take it longer, what is that warning about? What is the reason you should only take it for 14 days?

  5. Man, I get those hiccups, too. It sucks, but it happens to me a lot. Fortunately they only last a few minutes for me. I don't see anything wrong with what you ate. Maybe you just ate a little too fast. Or did you drink any while eating? Sometimes even a little sip gets me going. I'm with Swizzly, potatoes are NOT my friend yet. They fill me up SO super fast.

Hope you are feeling better today!smile.gif

  6. It's a proven fact that your brain needs carbs to function. When I go really low carb, I forget things, can't think straight, have brain fog, get extremely ill. But like Tiff said, just try to do it till you reach goal. I mean, I can't give you a better example of "what works" than looking at Tiff and her results. On the other hand, just like she said, low carb doesn't have to be the only way to go after VSG. Just do what works best for you. Trial and error.

If low carb gives you great results, then great! Just remember, the losing phase doesn't last forever. We can do anything for a little while, right?smile.gif

  7. Just make sure to do LOTS of research. This has to be a decision that fits you and your lifestyle.

Now, having said that, this IS a vertical sleeve site, so you will likely get lots of Pro-sleeve responses. I know I am happy that I made that decision even though my insurance would have paid for the lapband AND bypass. I had to self-pay but it was worth every cent.

    Good luck with your decision.smile.gif

  8. Hey, at least you confronted the problem and know what to do now. The chips and the drink are both salty, so as you already know, it's just Fluid retention.

Good for you for calling yourself out. You will do just finesmile.gif

BTW, you don't suck. If you didn't indulge every now and then, I think you wouldn't be normal.

'eating your cottage cheese under duress'......Hilarious.biggrin.gif

  9. i think you look great in your high school photo. That's about what I weighed in high school and I am 5'8". But you know, the older we get, that high school weight does seem a little low. A few years ago, I got down to 160 and I looked pretty dang good, if I do say so. The only difference was I was working out like a mad lady with weights and all. I think that weight was good for me but I would not be opposed to going on down to 140 if I can, and just seeing how I look. If I do look sickly or bad, I will just adjust my goal weight then.

Good luck with whatever you decide.smile.gif
