  1. 1 years have passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary FaithForward!

  2. High weight was 234. Day of surgery Nov 29th, my weight was 224. My current weight is 184, down 50lbs. I average about 2lbs per week.
  3. My surgery date is Nov 29th and I will start my pre-op diet on Monday. I weighed myself this morning and was surprised to find I had lost 7lbs over the past couple of weeks. It hit me; I see a means to an end and have not been stressing about food or overeating. I have not been over analyzing my food choices, I just eat! I read many posts on here regarding the low carb diets, etc that so many are following. I don’t want to treat this new journey as a diet although I do understand that my body will require Proteins, etc. Diets have failed me long term. I think by nature, a person will make better food choices as they are losing weight because they make you feel better. If I want a bite of dessert, I’m going to have it or a bite of any other food that I would normally beat myself up over having. What a great feeling to know that I have lost weight without trying.

    Any Novembers yet?

Add me to the list. Surgery set for Nov 29th!
  5. I was approved by UHC in 3 business days Very excited! If I was not afraid breaking a wrist all 234lbs of me would be doing a cartwheel down the hallway of my office. If you have UHC, please check the specifics of your plan requirements. Each plan will differ according to what your employer elects as the requirements for a bariatric candidate. I was very concerned with the 5 year history and was even told by my surgeon’s office for the insurance to approve; I had to have a documented bmi of 35 for the past five years. Five years ago, I was 160lbs and have fluctuated up and down every since. For the past 1 ½ to 2 years, I have not allowed the Dr. to weigh me. Kind of stupid – hindsight – right! I was not going to bother submitting for insurance approval thinking I would just be declined and I had decided to be a cash patient in Mexico. My particular plan with UHC only requires a bmi of 40+ or a bmi of 35+ with an additional condition such as diabetes. There were no hoops to jump through, no requirement for 3-6 months of medically supervised weight loss and no 5 year history necessary. I will be sporting my new sleeve before month end!

    Single Incision VSG

My surgery is being scheduled with TLC, Dr. Scarborough in Houston. They are the only surgeons in Houston performing the single incision. I'm excited!
  7. They have not posted any additional videos under gastricsleevereviews. I think maybe she is keeping a low profile. He is getting married in a couple of months and I'm sure life has gotten busy during an exciting time.

    Life After the Sleeve

These are the posts that keep me motivated to move forward. You are right, anything worth having comes with risk and challenges, but I think the reward far out"weighs" those challenges.
  9. The videos are of brother & sister. They are both current day doing very well and they look great!

    low bmi and considering sleeve

Another member posted my exact thoughts. It is so hard to see yourself big while others do not see you this way. I too remember being a size 10 and felt huge and disgusting. I would love to be there again and look at myself differently. You bmi is not high at all, but I know and understand how you feel!
