Well I had my egd done today, all went well. I am so ready for Dec. 3rd!

    Endoscope

I had my egd today. It very well. The longest part was waiting for the doctor to show up. Don't remember a thing and guess all went ok cause I never heard differently.
  3. We are very close indeed. I am a brave soul aren't I? It's worth it though. If I don't talk to you before Saturday, good luck with your EGD! Goodnight.

  4. Well I went to Bryan Adams High School. I have a 16 year old at Horn. I've got 4 kiddos all together. They range in age from 16 years to 14 months. We aren't too far from each other then.

  5. Mine is in Plano! So do you teach in Mesquite?

  6. I have been approved by insurance. I have my EGD this Saturday as well. Where are you having yours? All I have left is the EGD and preop blood work. I am SO ready to do this. I have to start my liquid diet the day after Thanksgiving and my surgery is Dec. 3rd.

  7. How is everything going?

  8. Hi. I am seeing Dr. Jayaseelan at Medical City. Where are you in your process?

    Endoscope

Is that the same as an EGD? I have that scheduled for Nov. 6th. I've heard your asleep so it's no biggie.

    "Last Supper"

Good Luck and keep us posted!
  12. Or you could also use Zofran or Phenergan. Both are prescription.

    "Last Supper"

My last supper will be Thanksgiving dinner. I think I will get a good mix of foods that day! Good luck everyone!
  14. That is GREAT to hear! The nurse practioner made it sound like thay come in every 2 hours your entire stay making you get up and walk. I'm okay with doing it during the day while I'm awake but I'd like my sleep too! I am aware of day 2 and the procedure and I have also heard how nasty that stuff is but hopefully I won't have any problems. I'm glad to hear such wonderful things about this place. Hope everyone is doing great!

    Any December Sleevers?

I don't know about everyone else but I am very excited about my upcoming surgery. I am ready for the challenges ahead and to start a new life. Not only will this surgery affect me but it will affect my entire family. We will all end up changing our diet and start exercising more. Being obese is not something I want my kids to have to deal with. My 15 year old son decided over the summer he was no longer going to be "fat" so he started dieting and exercising and has lost 60 pounds! I was/am so proud of him!! I wish it was that easy but then again we aren't 15 anymore. I can't wait to hear about everyone's journey we are about to go through......
  16. I have BCBS of IL (I live in TX) and I got approved the very first time it was presented to insurance. I was afraid it wouldn't because I have heard that so many insurance companies don't cover it because it is "new".
  17. Well according to the information I have they give you an IV so they can administer anesthesia so we should be knocked out enough to not know what is going on. I hope so anyway!

  18. Dr. Jay's office sets it up so when you do get ready to schedule just call the main number and ask to speak to a surgery scheduler and let them know you need to schedule an EGD. I am doing mine Saturday, November 13th in Plano. They are emailing me all the info by tomorrow, at least that's what I was told. I'm glad you found out now and didn't get hit with it last minute.

  19. Not a problem! I was told everyone having a sleeve had to get one unless, of course, you've had one in the past.

  20. It is an endoscopic procedure performed by a gastroenterologist. It allows the surgeon to look at your esophagus, stomach and duodenum to detect reflux, strictures or inflammation. They put you to sleep, numb your mouth and throat and stick a tube/camera down your throat. Like I said I found out about it when I went in for the sleeve meeting.

  21. I had to do a sleep study, psych eval, 3 months of diet and see a nutrionist. I only had to see the nutrionist once though. Have you had an EGD? I found out I needed that last week when I was at a mandatory sleeve meeting. Dr. Jay is great. Just make sure you do everything that is asked and everything should run smoothly.

  22. Hey there! I am having my surgery with Dr. Jay as well. I have been seeing him since June and I am scheduled for 12/3. Where are you in your process?

    Any December Sleevers?

I have to start my preop diet the day after Thanksgiving. I only have to do a 1 week liquid diet before surgery. So Thanksgiving is my last day to eat "real" food for a LONG time.
  24. I will be having surgery there December 3rd with Dr. Jayseleen. I've heard lots of postive things about the hospital. I also hear they get you up every two hours and make you walk the hallway 3 times! That I am not so thrilled about!
