  1. I just got my date change to June 28th. I am pretty much ready for this. I trying to eat less and more healthy and I am having a hard time with it. I have been doing ok but I think it will be much easier with the band. Anyhow best of luck to you all. Hope to hear form you in the coming months.

  2. I am set to get banded on June 28 and I was wondering about scuba after the op. As anyone gone diving since haveing the band? Did you feel anything wrong? I know I got to wait for everything to heal I am just wondering about the diff pressures and bar level. I thank you for all the help.

  3. I thought that I was going to have a hard time with my insurance covering the band because the company I work for can be some real cheep asses sometimes. But it was really simple. I just had to have a BMI over 40 ( And I do) My insurance is UHC PPO. I know all plans are not the same but just do your research and I am sure you can find someone that will cover it. I was kind of planing on my insurance not covering my band so I had a couple of attorneys lined up. I know of a few if ya want there websites I could give them to you. If you do have to self pay I have been told Dr Ariel Ortiz in mexico is great. I have not worked with him but I have read his book and everyone says he is really good. I think people say he could do it for around $8,000. Witch is alot cheeper than my Doc wants if I have to self pay $25,000. Anyway best of luck to you and keep after it.

  4. My doc wants me to start my shake diet 4 weeks pre op. So I have just been trying to eat better. Still alot, but all good stuff and it seems to be working I am loseing some weight here and there. As the days go by I am trying to make the size of my meals smaller. Just keep doing what you have been and you will get there before you know it. Best of luck to you.

  5. I am not getting banded till the 9th of Aug and I am trying to eat better so I could lose a little weight before the op. My Doc wants me to start my pre op diet 6 weeks out (high Protein low carb). I have been trying to eat better but I still have a hard time with the amount of food I am intaking. I have only been eating fruit and vegetables with some kind of high protein meat (Tuna, salmon, little chicken) and a slice of wheat bread from time to time. But I have been eating tons of the stuff. Like 10 times more than I know I should:hungry: . Do you think I should go back to my old diet and just try to eat a little less or keep on doing what I have been and just try my best to eat less? I can't wait to get the band! I am hopeing the urge to eat gigantic amounts of food will go away once I get the band. I am not having a hard time with what I am eating just the size of the portions:frusty: . Any tips would be a great help and appreciated.

  6. It's good you are learning so much before hand. I had my consult back in Nov of 06 and just got approved a few weeks ago. My date is Aug 9th and I can't wait. I am learning alot on here and by reading books. I think I got a pretty good understanding and how everything works. I read these books and it just seem like review. Anyway best of luck to you with your band and keep us all posted.

  7. I am terrified to eat something like goldfish. My physician's asst. told me (pre op) that if you eat too many carbs, they can ball up and get Gummy, and have trouble going through the passage. I don't think that's true but for my own good, I am going to hang onto that fear.

My Doc told me the same thing. gummy= bad idea

  8. I am getting the band on Aug 9th from Dr Drahn at san bernardino CA. What I would like to know is, how much help I am going to need post op. I am 25 and single and the people I use for help is going on a cruse the same week of the operation. I got friends that will take and pick up form hospital but I would like to leave it at that and do the rest myself. I am still kind of young and in ok shape (besides form being 300lbs) I think I could do it but I would like to see what everyone else thinks.

  9. I went to the meeting on 10/12/06 and got all my stuff down in early march and i just got the the green light from my insurance yesterday. I think I should know the date on friday. I thought my insurance would say no so I started to look for other options long time ago. It's alot of money but for what you get I think it's priceless.

  10. Most of your questions will be answered at your consult and the meeting. As far as you family go, it's very easy for everyone to say your taking the easy way out and don't want to support you. ( I got the same thing ) but know that you are doing this for yourself. I am 25 with a BMI of 45 and I know if I don't do something my health with suffer a great deal. I don't try to change my family's mind on the whole thing. I just think they don't understand. And the money, this is something that could change you life for the best and add alot of years on for ya. So when I look at it like that I don't think it's all that much money. Well best of luck to ya.
