  1. 1 years have passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary Flaca2be!

  2. How are you Flaca? Haven't heard from you. I'd love to hear an update.

  3. I went through the same: took the before pix and had kind of second thoughts but after the surgery...I felt I had done something bad (I took 85% of a vital organ!!); however, I was convinced by what my doctor explained to me. If I continued on this road, my life expectancy was lower everyday...I will never forget what he said: "have you ever seen an overweight old man?? No, right? Before they die soon!" You'll be fine and you will feel the happiest ever!! Good luck!

    Post-op Olive Oil?

My doctor and nutritionist adviced to add two teaspoons to each serving of lunch and dinner. I love the taste so it works for me :confused1:
  6. I'm kind of debating on the same thing myself...I'm going back to work on Monday after a month and 1/2 away on vacation and I KNOW they will notice. Before leaving and when this was only a wild idea, I told a couple of colleagues/friends who had mixed opinions about it since I didn't look so much overweight (but in reality I was at the limit between overweight and obese with a BMI of 30.8). One of them wrote to me yesterday and asked me if I finally did it, and I couldn't lie. I am very transparent about everything so it's hard for me to 'lie' about it. She advised not to tell anybody and just say it's a new diet with a nutritionist...I don't know if people will buy it or not but I think that's what I'm going to say. At the end, it's a very personal decision and matter and no one has to comment or have opinions unless it's people very close to you.

    Unconscious Eating

The first week post op I was VERY concious about the eating because it was just impossible and I didn't feel like eating at all! This second week, since I started to feel 'normal,' I sometimes was about to put stuff in my mouth but immediately remembered "hey, NO!" Your body will know. When I moved from Clear liquids to creams, the first time I got 'sick'; I felt as it was all stuck in my throat and couldn't go further than a 1/4 of cup. I was scared I was gonna throw up, but I didn't. The next time I had to eat, I added more Water and had three teaspoons and waited at least 1 minute. I know it sounds crazy, but I didn't feel sick anymore and I could have 1/2 cup. It'll be fine, don't worry. I hope this helped a bit. Good luck!!
  8. I'm 2 weeks post op and I still sip. Before the surgery, my doctor explained to me that my previous eating habits would end and that I would have to learn to eat again, like a baby does when they start first with milk, then with creams, then purees and finally solids. We will not be able to eat the same way again and I think that's the good part of it! If we got to the point of obesity, we might have been doing something wrong. At two weeks, I'm happy that my body gets used to different ways of eating; i'm not so concious about it as I was the week before, but I know exactly how much is good each time i put the spoon in my mouth or the size of the sip...honestly, i cannot have a single complain about this wonderful decision I took. I AM FINALLY HAPPY!!! So far I went 1 size down; yesterday I tried all my clothes from the past when I was lighter (good think i never got rid of it!) and the ones I was wearing before the surgery. Today I'm going to drop them off at the donation place because I know I WON'T NEED THEM ANYMORE IN MY LIFE!!! Hang in there!
  9. Hi DogBone, glad to hear your surgery went well! I'm just like you: I have all the sizes in my closet; from 8 to 12, so no shopping for me until i get to my goal.
  10. Dear friends, I came back from Peru just today and didn't log in while I was there. I'm so glad to report that my surgery was a total success! I cannot believe it all went so fast. My recovery has been amazing: no complications at all. So far it's been very easy, and I'd recommend this surgery to anybody suffering from overweight and obesity. My surgery was laparoscopic which made it even easier on the recovery. I stayed for two days at the hospital and during that time, the only thing that bothered me was pressure in the chest, as if I had a tight belt around my upper body; day 3, the pressure was totally gone; amazing! I am still on my liquid diet and tomorrow I should start two weeks of creams; after that, I will start a week on pure?s and after that, solids. So far I have lost almost 13 pounds counting from the pre-op week. However, it feels even more because my clothes don't fit me anymore; I am soooo happy! Please ask me questions if you wish. I'll keep you posted on how i'm doing. Love to you all! Ruth
