    Period question

I wish I had been warned. For some reason I didn't have issues with my Lap Band causing wacky periods post-op. My OB/GYn refuses to trust the pill though with me ven though I made it clear I had a VSG. I go Thursday for a Mirena IUD. Not real excited as I had a bad experiences with constant spotting previously with this but we shall see. I'm trying really hard to be more positive and open minded.
  2. That's awesome. I spent a month in Ireland about 10 years ago. That's the longest amount of time my liver would allow! I'm so happy to hear your sweater fits! My goal is to fit into my leather jacket and It's almost at the zip line, just a bit snug! Congrats!
  3. Apparently between the sleeve and my IBS I am no longer absorbing my wonderful (I'm not being sarcastic, I LOVED my pill) birth control pill. My husband and I have 2 girls under the age of 6, which is plenty busy for me. We are 99% sure we don't want more but with the minute chance left we might change our mind I don't want anything permanent. I can't handle the shot as I had two moods crying or mad after 1 shot 10 years ago. I've had Mirena IUD in the past and hated it. It looks like I have no choice but to have another one. I know IBS in women is fairly common, I just wish I could have been forwarned about this. For those with Mirena how long did you spot? I had one and after 6 months I was so sick of it and the almost constant spotting and my OB did not want to remove it so I did so myself.

    Heartburn!

You're so smart and experienced with this, I soooo hope you are right. I am constantly taking Prevacid and it does NOTHING. I used to work for a GI doc and I know from there all PPI's are basically the same we interchange them depending on insurance. I feel my knees are melting from constant heartburn. I called my doctor's office a couple days ago and again today and nobody calls me back, so I am hoping it goes away eventually.
  5. I have now worked up the guts to complain to my surgeon and to the hospital that the Anesthesilogist works at. I have zero intention of complaining against my surgeon as he did what he was hired to do. The person I hold responsible for having this done against what I wanted will have a formal complaint filed against him. I intend to consult my attorney in regard to having formal assault charges filed criminally against this Anes. because he drugged me against my will after I clearly told him I did not want to have this surgery and I wanted to be released and go home. He chose to override my wishes so I will chose to make him pay both professionally and personally. I will keep you posted.

    Permanent Makeup

It lasts anywhere between 2-5 years, it varies based upon how much time you are outdoors and the chemicals you use on your face. Cost was not something I took into consideration when looking for a good artist. The best get paid more in any profession. For my upper and lower eyeliner and lips I paid $600. The lady I went to was highly experienced and knew exactly what I wanted and what colors to recommend to get the right look. The lips have been a bit more of a pain in the butt because of the whole only drink from a straw no friction rule of the tattoo. I will go through various stages of peeling with the lips before I get my slight pink.

    Oral Contraceptives - B.C. Pills

I believe Seasonale has become Seasonique just in case that creates a problem in you finding it as I have been on both and was changed to Seasonique. I was told they didn't make Seasonale anymore. I had zero problems with either BC. No spotting, no cramping. I totally loved 4 OR LESS periods each year. The majority of the time I would skip the "reminder pills" and just take the regular active pills continually pack after pack with no problems. My doctor knew I was doing this and face it any period you get while on the pill isn't a period it's withdrawal bleeding. All was great with Seasonique and I was planning on staying on it longterm until I went menopausal or got fixed. That was until of course I had this surgery. Now I am constantly spotting and having cramps. It's acting like I'm missing pills which I know is not the case. I called the doc that prescribed it and she wants me on Mirena IUD. I've had that before and hated it. I was told my periods were all but disapear which was kinda the case. I didn't have a period on Mirena I just spotted or bled the entire 5 months it was in place. I was told to wear a tampon 24/7 if it bothered me to spot. Well hell yeah it would bother anyone to spot for 5 months! Eventually, I got tired of it and pulled a little too hard and out it (the Mirena) came! So yeah I removed it myself with no complications only a raised browl from my doctor. I have to get back into the doc and I guess give into it and get the Mirena. I wish someone would have warned me about this when I was deciding on surgery. This is one of the many reasons I didn't want Gastric Bypass. I'm just really unhappy about giving up such a great pill.

    6 Months Out

I'm glad to see you are doing so well. I hope to join you someday and be happy with this surgery. Not that you really seem to need it, but I wish you the best of luck with the remainder of your weight to goal!

    stuck!

You and I had it done around the same time and have lost about the same amount of weight it seems. I am a revision from Lap Band. My body loses weight quickly. I usually have a week or two occasionally of little to no weight loss. It seems that time period is for my body to catch up. When i don't lose scale weight, I lose inches. I recall a lot of people talking about this on here. How are you tolerating foods these days? I am having trouble because of frequent diarrhea within 20-30 minutes after eating sometimes sooner. :biggrin0:
  10. Both a c-section and VSG are fresh on my mind. I had our last daughter (2nd vertical c-section) in Feb. 2009 and VSG 3 weeks ago without any surgeries in between the two to confuse me..lol. The c-section because it is bigger and lower is much worse. The muscles you use to get in and out of bed are compromised and upset with the c-section. The VSG incisions are tiny and much higher up think between your belly button and boobs higher up. While getting in and out of bed hurts with either surgery for a few days, I'd much rather have another VSG than a C-section even though with the c-section you get a mighty cute and sweet "consolation prize". :crying:
  11. It doesn't matter what I eat I dump. I know it's rare but can happen with VSG. Has anyone had this and it eventually go away? Thanks
  12. Even I will apologize for that, but Humor is very difficult to see online. It's one of the pittfalls of both the English language's need to have emotion set with it and the lack of some personalization on a forum.
  13. I did fine during the phase my doctor had me on liquids and then full liquids. Now that I am on mushies, it doesn't matter what I eat. I get what feels like labor pains and then I have to RUN to the bathroom to make it in time.

    Sorry

I know the last couple weeks have been pure hell for me and I have simply been trying to find an outlet. I no longer have the ability to talk with my spouse about this surgery as it has caused a major problem in our almost 10 year old marriage. I'm moving and I will not have a surgeon. Someone posted about my pain management and Fibromyalgia. Yes, I am on medication for that but it is NOT regular opiate pain medication and NO it does NOT effect my judgement. My doctor told me I would never get into trouble driving even if they tested my blood for it so that's hardly under the influence. There are many people who suffer from Fibro and if you want more information on my specific medication simply send me a PM and I'll be glad to share my experience and help you if possible. Don't accuse me of being a drug abuser because you are ignorant and unfamiliar with a decision my doctor and I made together for a particular medication regime that is simply off label use he feels comfortable prescribing. In other words, my medication usage is my business, but this is a forum and if I can help someone feel better great, but don't accuse me of abusing drugs or having my thought process clouded by drug use. No matter how I got here I'm here. Everyone deals with this surgery differently and while I do have my personal opinion on why I am here I will keep that to myself. I don't have a problem with any single person on here except maybe littlesteve but that's because of the way he chooses to answer people and simply being rude and unhelpful. As I mentioned previously. This surgery does not come with an owner's manual and who better to ask than someone who has already been there? If you don't want to deal with me, it's really easy. There are ignore features or you don't have to read my posts and certainly nobody is going to force you to respond. Again I am sorry if I offended anyone with my opinion. At this point I wish to not discuss how I got here but deal with what I am stuck dealing with day to day and simply survive.

    Sorry

I can honestly say I am excited about a Washington get together. I just have to get my house together first...lol.. I'm from Texas so 300 mile distances aren't anything for me. So let me know when and where, we can get a mixed plate and share it should be REALLLLLY cheap!

    Sorry

Tiff, I think every fat person has issues, some deeper than others. All have to be dealt with whenever that person is ready to deal with them. I know support is a two way street and it's hard to understand where a person is coming from based soley on the internet. At this time I am not seeking psych support from this forum and having upteen people say get professional help is really of no benefit. Everyone has their own path to and from this or any other WLS, regardless of what path they are on each and everyone deserve respect and support. If you look at my replies to folks I haven't told one single person NOT to get the sleeve regardless of my personal experience with it. One person asked if anyone regreted and I spoke up, she was asking about a reversible surgery as she wasn't sure. I believe if a person isn't sure then the sleeve isn't for them at this time, kinda like a tattoo, if you think you will regret it next week then it's best left at the tattoo shop on the wall not on your skin. I will however agree with you based on the amount of frustration I am experiencing my thoughts and opinions of this surgery change often as do I believe most people's view. My experience with this surgery thus far has sucked. But I have realized I am stuck and I'm trying to move on and work my life around what is left to work with. That's all I am seeking, help with what I have physically.

    Sorry

I'm in the process of moving to Redmond. We should be up there around this time next month as we are finishing up on stuff down here. I am not familiar with the area as I've only been to Seattle on vacation about 2 years ago for a weekend so it's going to be an adventure. How far away are you?
  18. You will slow down in the next month or so. I had Lap Band before this and started at around 300lbs. The larger you are and the more weight you have to lose the quicker you will lose. If you have say 50lbs to lose it's much harder, meaning more effort is going to be needed via exercise on your part, but not impossible than someone who wants to lose 100-150lbs. I know when I was 300lbs, it was like walking around with an extra 100lbs on at all times thus a semi-workout if you want to call it that.

    Question about carbonated drinks

I'm sure I'll get scolded in some form or fashion, but I drink 2-3 cokes a day and I'm about 3 weeks out. If you care about weight loss it's not the best idea to do so. I decided I would rather drink coke than lose a few pounds here or there. I do think it comes down to what hurts or doesn't though for you personally.

    Sorry

    Thanks MlkPas.

    Sorry

Again, you don't have to post if you don't want to. I am here for support as are most folks, if you aren't capable of offering support really what's the point in posting a reply? I believe I made it clear on how the IGNORE feature works.
  22. Carrie

    Sorry

I sincerely appreciate you concern. I simply do not want nor do I need rumors or people to believe I am a drug abuser because of a misquote, thus I felt the reason to clarify. Take care,
  23. I think part of the problem is just going so long on liquids and then trying to eat mushies. It's probably a shock to the system. I am going to try eating more yogurt and perhaps some probioitics like Tiff suggested. I know Align is a popular choice.

    Drain?

I did not have a drain 3 weeks ago when I was sleeved. I specifically asked my doctor and he said that unless there is a question in regard to internal bleeding he never uses them. I did however have what is called an On Q Pain Buster pump. They place it while in surgery to areas where most patients complain of pain due to a certain surgery. Apparently they can use it after many different kinds of surgeries (C-sections, hernia repair, etc). I went home after 1 night and Hubby and I had to remove it the following morning.
  25. Thanks for the answer Tiff. I think I'll try some Align or eat more yogurt, between moving and dealing with healing I didn't even think about that. MP- I've made a few good friends on here actually even though most people don't understand where I am coming from. The reality is this surgery doesn't exactly come with an owner's manual and who better to ask than someone else who had the same surgery? If you don't want to deal with me, it's easy, don't read my posts and certainly don't reply. Thanks again Tiff.
