  1. If it's not worth it to your husband, or if he is less than supportive, it is important that you explain to him, before surgery, that you are going on a journey and you woud like him to go with you. If he is not ready, tell him you are leaving on that journey, and he can either catch up, or consider his options. I think it is always important to support your spouse and their feelings, but to also make a clear statement of your intent. Later this may be a valuable thing to have done..... {:>} rd

    So Many Views. So Few Comments?

    I have discovered that Maintenance is not like retirement! If anything I have to eat cleaner, and exercise more than before.

    So Many Views. So Few Comments?

    Wow what a great response. I really need a place to whine and crow, knowing that I will be accepted either way. And then there are days when I just claim my place (chair) in the community of recovering food addicts who are lucky (crazy) enough to have the tool of WLS! I am three pounds on the right side of the scale today, as a result of my "Midsummer Reboot!" Thanks to my HP and nature when this happens! {:>} rd

  8. Not only heterosexuals birth babies! Gay "Breeder" here! We are everywhere.... ;>}
  9. Since 1/2010. I have lost a total of 100 lbs. Somehow lost regular correspondence with this group. There is so little out there for Sleevers, that I am glad to re-discover this group. Do you get swept in to GBS and Lap patient groups, without a focus on the Sleeve? I am tired of being a "second class" bariatric citizen. I don't get why some Drs pussh the sleeve but other, competent and experienced, do not. I have taken onmy hospital, a Center of Excellence, state of the art facility, except for lack of Sleeve support. Do others find a similar experience?
  10. I have lost 58 lbs since 7/28/10 surgery. Had lost 43# pre-surg. In the past six weeks I have lost and gained the same four pounds several times. Have tried 800 c., 1000c., and 1200c. I understand plateaus and have tried varying exercise and adding calories per Nut, but that ADDS weight. I know everyone says this, but i am really worried about insuffient weight loss on the sleeve. 25% is all 30% achieve. These are the folks who go on to have a second procedure, which I can't do. I started at 379 and am now at 238, having lost about 25% of my excess weight...not a success, but not a failure. What suggestions?

    Early VSG failure?

    Correction 278...i have lost increasingly lower amount each month and have lost none in the past month. This is too early for an extended plateau, and the average doesn't represent that... the up and down, when my diet and exercise are constant, comcerns me... I am very well versed re plateaus, and understand your point, but I feel that the insulin resistance, or something endrocrinological is possible, as is the limits of the sleeve. I am also taking Victoza and Testosterone, prescribed by my Doc...

    Early VSG failure?

    278, thanks for pointing that out!
  13. My Nut insists that the "window" for weight loss is extended for Sleevers up to two years, vs 6 mos to one year for GSB. This doesn't mean you CAN'T continue to lose weight, but statistics indicate many don't. The regain statistics are also quite depressing, unless you start out on program with diet, exercise, and developing new behaviors around food. I lost weight before my surgery and have continued to five months out with one plateau. A total of 100 lbs since Jan 2010, and I have already started on the second 100! Make your own progress and determine your own future!
  14. I have passed all the post op hurdles except one. :crying: Gotta Pee! Apparently the narcotics hit men harder in that area. They finally cathed me yesterday and got 640 ML! It hurt like hell, but i was finally to walk without getting nauseous! I am now sipping iced tea until the caffeine gits 'er done, then I am homeward bound!
  15. All finished with every single thing! Sitting here sipping on chicken broth. The next time I post there is every chance that I will be sleeved and I hope my space on the loser's bench is being prepared, even as I write. I am loving my "Successful Surgery" meditations! Both the Dr. and the Anest. ok'ed using them from induction to recovery! I HIGHLY recommend them for folks who are coming toward their date with surgery. I downloaded them on iPhone and take them everywhere, except while driving! THANK you to whomever shared Belleruth and her system. It even talks at a micro level about the molecules and the blood, and the reknittting of the cells together to hasten healing! Mind, Body and Spirit working with medicine! See you on the other side! PS. My mom has her CA biopsy on Thursday, so I will get done and then she will start her process. She's a tough ole bird, beat breast cancer several yrs ago! Thanks for the responses!
