Foods you used to love but now hate

Chocolate was my absolute favorite food-I literally couldn't get through a day without chocolate of some sort. Now, when I see chocolate in any form-cake, cookies, brownies, etc-it actually repels me. Today for dinner, I had an Atkins Endulge bar that I used to eat every morning with breakfast, and I'm still gagging from the taste. I always liked fruit, but now it's the thing I crave the most. I also get cravings for Chinese Food, but I'm afraid to try most of it until I'm further out from the surgery. As for Mexican food, I have been doing very well with it, as long as it's in small portions.
  2. Nurse_Ally, I totally get your point, and I agree with what you're saying. I can't talk for anyone else, but for me, what I'm saying is NOT that I lament not being able to eat as much food, but rather that eating has become thoroughly unenjoyable. I wish that I could eat the small portions of food AND still enjoy it. I also don't enjoy my stomach always feeling uncomfortably full, even when I haven't eaten in hours. I know that it's temporary, but it's frustrating right now.
  3. I'm so glad to see this thread here. I'm feeling exactly the same way as you two. I used to love eating so much, and now I have very little appetite, and frankly, I have completely lost all enjoyment of eating. I think about the tastes of my favorite foods a LOT, but then the thought of actually taking in those foods makes me nauseous. I'm currently 20 days out, and I'm hoping this feeling is temporary....
  4. I haven't seen anyone else say they had the same experience I did, but for me, the surgery actually caused me to start my period, which I wasn't expecting, since I had just had one the week before. Fortunately, it was short-only about 4-5 days, but I wasn't prepared for that.
  5. This is my first post here. I so wish that I could have read this post a few months ago, as I had many "last meals," thinking that I could never have my favorite "bad" foods again. I put on a few pounds during my nutrition meetings because of this. Thankfully, I managed to lose almost all of it during my pre-op diet. I'm getting a bit nervous now...my surgery is in less than 36 hours, and tomorrow is my clear-liquid diet. It's a kind of combination of eager anticipation and jitters, though.
