  1. 1 years has passed since you registered at VerticalSleeveTalk! Happy 1st Anniversary momoftwo!

  2. I just dont see a difference in my body at all. The scale says 20 pounds down but sometimes I think my scale is not working properly. I also see people on this site loosing way more then that in the first few weeks, so I guess I just expected more weight loss lol.
  3. Update: Two and half weeks after surgery, and well Im finally going back to work, I have been in and out of hospitals, having cat scans, x-rays, I still have a collapsed lung but its getting better, they thought I might have an infection in my pancreas, but luckily I was not throwing up nor had pain so they left that idea behind. I have has infection in my wound which I was on medicine for. Just a really rough go. I have started to eat small amounts of food, and have only lost 20 pounds, which does not seem like alot, I need to loose another 35 pounds and worries its not going to come off. Any advice?
  4. Previous Post: I was sleeved last Wed in Tijuanna Mexico, and the day after surgery, I was having so much pain they were not sure what was going on so they decided to take me under again for another surgery to see what was going on, turns out I had a leak and low hemoglobin so I had a blood transfusion. Well leak was fixed and then I ended up getting liquid in my lungs, which there is not much to do for that, I am finding it so tough to sit, lye down, just bending over to pick up something takes alot of effort out of me. 1 week after Surgery: Well Im not out of the complications yet, seems they keep getting more and more. I went to Dr today in home town who sent me for xray, ultrasound, blood work and ECG. I am still having troubles with breathing, my blood pressure is still very high and now my incisions are oozing very badly and I have an infection. I also found out I have a collapsed lung with liquid inside, that is why breathing is so difficult, I have low pottassium. I really did not expect to be so sick after surgery like this, and have all these complications, the Dr I am seeing back home says you just never know what the Dr in another country do while in surgery, and plus travel so quickly after on a plane also causes problems too. Im a bit scared and hoping they can help me with what I need now. I never saw anyone having complications on this site before, if you did please tell me your story Thanks

I am wondering if anyone else felt this way at all after even if they did not have complications. I have not even noticed any weight loss either which scares me quite a bit. I am wondering if I did the right thing to have this surgery Any thought?
  6. I was sleeved last week Wed, had a few complications and well I have not noticed any weight loss yet, anyone have this issue or can help answer this question
  7. Yeah its tough when I cant tell anyone. I guess I am just worried about not being able to eat and hoping I wont still be hungry and crave foods like I do now. I have read so many postings on this site so its great to hear different stories, and i am also worried about the throwing up, I dont want to have any embarrsing moments. Already, I have a problem with not telling my friends/family. My Parents are having an anniversary party BBQ one week when I get back, I wont be able to eat anything, so I may just say i am sick. Any other ideas let me know lol. Well I just finished my last yummy snack and after midnight will be on the liquid diet, however, I notice you are on yours for a week, I am only on mine for 3 days so I should not be to upset about it lol.
  8. Im considered a light weight. I need to loose between 50-60 pounds. However been struggling for about 10years with my weight and when I had my children it became tougher to loose the weight. I have had surgery before (wisdom teeth, gallbladder, appendix and even a kidney removed) So I am fine with the surgery part, I am actually looking forward to the long needed rest from my busy life lol, although, I am a bit nervous to be traveling to Mexico and only one of my friends knows where and what I am doing, I cant tell my family, they would think I was crazy. Its good to have people to chat to on here. I am from Alberta.

    Pre Op Liquid Diet

Im finding it might be much easier for me to go on liquid diet now knowing that most of you have been told you need to be on it for week or longer, mine is only 3 days prior to surgery which i guess is nothing.
  10. Thanks Andrea, I appreciate the positive thoughts. Where are you having surgery on Fri?
  11. I am a bit nervous and excited for my surgery on Wed. I am a bit worried I am not going to be able to do this liquid diet. Any suggestions on how to get through this for next three days? Tonight I had what felt like a last meal. Any words of advice on anything for my upcoming surgery would be appreciated. I fly out of Calgary Wed morning to Mexico, and Surgery the same afternoon.
  12. Im having surgery Aug 18th in Mexico
  13. Hi, After finally deciding to get it done and scheduling my surgery for Aug 18th, I finally decided to talk to my family Doctor and I even brought paperwork to show her on the VSG and Info on Dr. Pompa. However she was not happy I could tell, she told me that she would rather I meet with a Doctor here in Canada who deals with obesity and he can put me on medications but she also thinks I wont qualify for surgery here because my BMI is not over 40. She says that she would not be able to help me if something goes wrong when I return because she does not know what the Dr's in Mexico are doing and what the procedure entitles etc. I could tell she was not happy at all, but then she did say that she as my Dr has to advice me of the risks and she tried to make me feel guilty for the fact that i am a single parent and what if something goes wrong when I am down there and my kids wont have their mother. So trying to scare me a bit. Then she said so what are you going to do, and she could just tell I was still wanting this surgery. But, I will admit I left feeling really bummed out that my Dr does not approve and was upset at my decision. Did anyone else go through this with their Dr and if so what did you do or how did it feel? I also want to hear from people who's Dr's approved because I would like to hear what their opinions were on the VSG. Thanks
  14. For me its tough because my parents and I are really close, but I cant tell them about this because of the financial costs they would not understand that. I am a bit nervous just because I am not telling anyone and what if something goes truly wrong while I am down there and no one knows where I am. Luckily I will have support from one person who has gone through the surgery herself. So I am feeling much better about going now.
  15. Hi Amy, Thanks for the kind words. I got my financing today, and was so excited it was like wow this is real, so I am going through a program called weight loose forever which is super awesome because I have had someone to guide me and support me so far to make my decision and she will be coming with me when I go for the surgery so I wont be alone. I think I will be booking for August. Good luck with your date, cant wait to hear how it went for you
