    I'm sorry but that kind of post is part of the frustration for me.
    "you've lost the weight before so you know you can do it. Don't spend time beating yourself up. Instead, spend that time evaluating whats caused you to go back down that road, then begin on a new road by building yourself up and taking time to get healthy again."

    It's like people don't want to know, don't want to hear, don't want to understand. Even though it says don't beat yourself up, that's just what the next portion of the sentence does - it shames the individual. "spend that time evaluating whats caused you TO GO BACK DOWN THAT ROAD" Because, obviously, it must be "something they did" that made them gain lots of weight back or be at a never ending stall.
    That is classic blaming and shaming.
    Only few of us are being vocal about it, but the numbers are far larger. We did everything we were supposed to do, and never achieved goal. We had stalls and regain and addressed them in the way we were told to, and nothing happened. I have eaten and exercised like a post op, flawlessly, for the past 53 days and I have lost only 9 pounds. When one is severely overweight (do not pay attention to my numbers in my profile, they are sadly incorrect) 650 calories a day and less than 30g carbs should not result in barely 9 pounds in almost 3 months. Not when the person is 5'3" and 65 lbs over goal.

    Michigan Chic I know you mean well but you must not have read far enough up the thread to see my first post. I do everything to the letter of the law, as strict and clean as though I were a new post-op. This includes tracking etc.
    And yes, I have tried cycling. I have tried. EVERYTHING.
    everything.
    After 30 days I have still only lost 3 pounds.

    Frumpy don't participate in the blame and shame - yeah you made some food choices that didn't help matters, but the amount of effort we have to put into keeping the weight off is absolutely shocking and not something people are willing to really admit/talk about. At my lowest weight I had lost 135 lbs since surgery (it took almost 4 years). I still wasn't at goal but I was close. That was one year ago. In eleven months I gained back 43 lbs. Also, that grand total of 135 pounds lost since surgery represents a loss of about 34 pounds a year, or about 3 pounds a month. That is actually worse than had I just gone on a VLC diet. And as it turns out, I will be on a severe diet the rest of my life - we all will, if we want to be starkly honest with ourselves. This last regain was my second regain since surgery. My surgery was July of 2010 I was 294 lbs,17 months later I was at my lowest post-op weight of 172 lbs. My first regain was Summer 2012 and within 6 months I had gained 30 lbs. I plateaued around 200 for the next 6 months and then got on a serious recommittment kick and dropped 40 lbs in 4 months. I held onto my new lowest weight since surgery (159 lbs) for 5 months, until May of 2014, before I started to gain again. From May 2014 to May 2015 I gained the aforementioned 43 lbs. May 28th 2015 I weighed in at 223 lbs and on the 29th I recommitted again to faithful post-op style eating, all the strict guidance we are initially given and that we follow to. the.letter. In the past 20 days I have lost only 5 1/4 lbs. To say this is frustrating cannot even begin to express it. And before anyone starts suggesting reasons for this slowness, yes I have had all my thyroids checked, yes I have done everything to the letter of the law, yes I have done all one is meant to do.
    The truth is that our bodies get f***ed up, metabolically, which they already had problems with to begin with which is what was part of what made us obese in the first place. For the rest of our lives we do not get the luxury of eating a reasonable sensible diet and exercising reasonably to keep a healthy body and weight. It requires an unreasonable amount of diligence and a level of concern over calories/exercise/and the components of food that is usually reserved for those with severe eating disorders.
    If you want to keep that honeymoon weight (if you were actually lucky enough to achieve goal during honeymoon phase, which I was not) then resign yourself to eating between 600 and 800 calories with less than 40g carbs, for the rest of your effing life. *

    Sarah, I am with you on Lipstick! I don't have any idea who she is, and like you said, we barely have time to post what's going on with us! Sitting here and discussing someone I don't even know is a ridiculous thought!
    Sheryl, I totally understand these health issues being depressing. This surgery that they want to do on me is sounding more and more like a terrifying thought! I made a thread in the lounge and people have been telling of their experience with back fusions and I hate reading it. I can't go to the gym, I can't dance, and I can barely walk. This is from a surgery that was supposed to make me better!
    I am with you on men. I really don't even care what happens with Bill and me. If he wants to go find some woman who wants to camp (heaven forbid) who is fit since I am not anymore, more power to him. I'd really like to be free to do whatever I want, whenever I want without having to consider anyone. men are a PIA!

    Weighed this morning - 214.6 so, perhaps this higher fat thing is good? You know how malicious my body is so I won't believe this is legit until I've either maintained it or slid down at least 5 lbs, then I'll believe.

    Indeed you look fabulous! I love your hair - you look stunning
    I created a new little document to track my measurements over time - I had been entering it in a small paper journal, but have run out of room. I added a column for notes/behaviors/activity - of course the topics I usually avoid when I have fallen way to the wayside of the healthy track.
    Thanks for that link Kim - I am going to try the Keto thing - (this honestly sounds way more fun than Whole 30 lol - my family would NOT be on board with something that austere) but meat, eggs, cheese - those are things we will all eat. I am about 197 (cringe) right now and here is what that calculator gave me for macros at a 30% deficit - which they say can be hard, but I can always adjust it down. Also set it to sedentary - I know myself and I slack on the exercise as much as I do Water - so anything over sedentary is a bonus.
    Daily Calories
    1256
    20 g. carbs
    90 g. Protein
    91 g. fat
    It says to maintain - my cals would be 1794 - which is right in there with what the machine at my surgeons office says, which had me at 1800 something - though I think my lean body mass was higher - this regain is astonishing in how "flabbaliscious" all the extra fat is - its like I have a new outfit filled with Jello or something

    Thought I would branch out and go read some other posts on the board for once in my life - just want to say that I think it is probably a good idea that Lipsticklady isn't in the group- she seems to take things really personally, and seems that she could be a 'pot-stirrer' - not that I know her at all.
    I dunno - I tend to stay pretty far away from folks who don't seem to recognize that text carries no inflection - that if you are getting hurt and upset by posts that are not blatant attacks or harassment - that it is you who is bringing the negative vortex into play. Reminds me of having to go over this constantly with our girls and other folks on the web - pre-teen stuff.

    Rogofulm, thank you for your encouragement and support, it is meaningful. My success at getting myself "back under control" isn't quite the point I was trying to make, however. I was trying to be very clear and frank with all the sleevers out there who have less time on the sleeve than me about what life and weight management and even what "working your sleeve" actually look like when surgery date is a distant memory.

    5 pounds a month would only be 60 pounds, which would have me at 155 - still overweight and still over goal.
    So, today's calories are 882, carbs 20, Protein 98 (!!) and fat 42. we'll see tomorrow...

    I don't have a primary physician because I just haven't found one yet and haven't made it a priority and to be perfectly frank, I don't trust a doctor to be on my side. I feel like they will just blame me and secretly believe that I am just not compliant.

Also, that grand total of 135 pounds lost since surgery represents a loss of about 34 pounds a year, or about 3 pounds a month. That is actually worse than had I just gone on a VLC diet. And as it turns out, I will be on a severe diet the rest of my life - we all will, if we want to be starkly honest with ourselves. This last regain was my second regain since surgery. My surgery was July of 2010 I was 294 lbs,17 months later I was at my lowest post-op weight of 172 lbs. My first regain was Summer 2012 and within 6 months I had gained 30 lbs. I plateaued around 200 for the next 6 months and then got on a serious recommittment kick and dropped 40 lbs in 4 months. I held onto my new lowest weight since surgery (159 lbs) for 5 months, until May of 2014, before I started to gain again. From May 2014 to May 2015 I gained the aforementioned 43 lbs.     Yesterday was my 5 year anniversary of my sleeve...each year I think about writing a progress report but I never do cos I am not at goal... I don't feel like a failure now, as I once did. I don't know what is stopping me to be honest.
    I am starting to think that after 2 years of being at this weight I have pretty much finished my weight loss journey. But then that stubborn side of me says, NO! Keep on keeping on...
    Anyway,the last 5 years, really have been incredible - cliched to the max but I've lost the weight and found myself!

    In the past 30 days I have lost and gained and lost and gained the same 3 pounds, while on a diet of between 600-700 calories.
