SouthernSleever got a reaction from Spinoza in Coming up on 15 years after VSG
A couple things related to my weight gain - when I gained weight it was due to eating fast food/junk food during nursing school and then the pandemic (people sending goodies to hospitals) and the stress of the job. I also had two traumatizing relationships in that mix - what was 30lbs would have been 60lbs pre-wls
When I was gaining weight, I wasn't stepping on the scale. So now, I do this often to keep me accountable. You are going to regain some, your stomach is tiny and then the swelling goes down and you can eat more (and you should)!
I feel like wls is the only way I could have kept this off. The best thing is that the food noise is gone!
I would redo the surgery once a year, every year, if I had to. That's how important is been to me.

Goodness I cannot believe that my 15 year surgery anniversary will be in October!
A friend of mine is considering weight loss surgery so I went looking for this forum again and thought I would do a quick update!
I had a VSG in Mexico (Mexicali) in October of 2010. I had zero complications and went from a surgery weight of 276 down to about 125ish. Size 24 to size 0. I had plastics in 2013ish (breast, arms, and tummy). I gained up to about 150/160 and stayed there for many years. Over the past 6 to 7 years I have gained weight thanks to nursing school and the pandemic 🥴 but I'm happy with where I am!
I am currently at 170 and in a size 8. (Lots of weight/skin in leg area). My surgery continues to be the best thing that I ever did for myself. The only drawback is that I have GERD, and cannot skip a day without Omeprazole.
My labs are fantastic. I can eat pretty a normal size meal but still have some restriction if I go over that. I'll try to remember to come back incase anyone has questions but really I don't think about the surgery or food much anymore 🤗

Great post Diva! I'd add,
"DO keep a list of NSV (Non scale victories) to reflect on when times are getting hard. Can you walk up 2 extra flights of stairs before getting winded? Cross your legs?" and
"DO NOT be afraid to change things if they aren't working. Stalls happen even gains happen. If you are on a long stall look at your eating and decided if changes need to be made. Utilize your tool!"

My weight has been so slow recently (cry) but I have had a few NSVs I'd like to share.
When I went to work out the other day and did the stationary bike I could see between my thighs where as I couldnt' before.
I ran on the treadmill for like 3 minutes while still holding a convo
Walking out of the Chiro's office I gave my husband a scare because he thought someone else was taking our son. "I saw some thin woman with our son by the hand then realized it was you."
Getting my Saturday massage by hubby he said, "Its amazing how everywhere I touch now has bones sticking out."
AND I'm shoping totally in the regular section now. I PAID OFF AND CUT UP MY LANE BRYANT CARD! FU LANE BRYANT (excpet your bras )

SouthernSleever got a reaction from BayChick in Breastfeeding With Sleeve
There is NO REASON to stop nursing. I spoke to Dr Aceves who is a highly regarded Mexican Surgeon. If you know about the community in which he lives and works they know a helluva a lot more about breastfeeding than we do. Dr Aceves said it is great to continue breastfeeding after surgery. All the drugs will be out of your body. Many many women around the world live on way less calories per day than we will be consuming. Dr Aceves said many of his patients continue to breastfeed and do fine. I also talked to my OBGYN who delievered my first son and who is the head over the birthing center here in knoxville now. She checked to make sure lovenox was fine and said it is perfectly fine to continue nursing. It will not negatively affect my health or my son's. My PCP said the same thing. I had my surgery in October and here it is January. I've continued to nurse and haven't had any problems.

I beg to differ. I'd say that emotion eating and addiction play the biggest part in weight gain. I know several people who eat only healthy foods but way too much of them. It is okay to enjoy ALL foods in moderation. If fastfood is a trigger for you (mine is sodas) then stay away from it. Make the best choices you can and understand that treats, like fastfood, are just that. They are not everyday food.

Well I dont count fat as I think fat is good for you but the carbs is where the baddies are. I eat this maybe once a week when I've forgotten to eat or when the fam is having a treat.
McDonalds=I get the McDouble and take the top bun off. I can eat the whole thing but I'm super stuffed
Wendy's = Jr Bacon cheeseburger take top bun off or I get chili
Chick fila I get the kids 2 strip meal with the sugarfree lemonade. I eat 1 and 1/2 strips and 2 fries.

Bahahahaha You crack me up Rootman! Great NSV! I have a little nsv I always put my phone inbetween my legs when I drive or my hands if they are cold but since my thighs hardly touch anymore my phone just slides right into the floor and it's not very warm there anymore either!

I have a couple to share today.
I went to Ross last night to pick up some sheets. No sheets but I did find a matching Bra and Panties set. My 11 year anniversary is on the 21st of Feb and for the first time I can wear matching bra and panties. Pretty ones, sexy ones! I went from a 42 DDD to a 38D and get this, the price was 6.99 for the bra and 2.99 for the panties. NEVER have I spent so little on a bra before. My other NSV was today I had a hard day at work so I came home and go in the tub. While relaxing I relized I don't touch the sides of the tub anymore at all. Woooot!

SouthernSleever got a reaction from H.150ToGo in Calling All Long Term Sleevers: How Much Food Does Your Stomach Hold Now?
I'm 15 months out and here are a few typical meals I've had over the past month.
1 egg, 2 pieces of bacon and 1/2 a piece of toast
1 piece of super supreme pizza, hand tossed dough, didn't eat the crust
1/2 a sandwhich with 5-6 chips
2 string cheese with 4 crackers
1 cup cottage cheese
1 Jr Bacon cheeseburger from Wendy's w/o the bottom bun
3oz steak and two bites sides
1/2 a side salad and 1 bone of ribs + 2 bites of a side dish.
3 chicken wings and 2 french fries
After each of these meals I am positively stuffed meaning I would get sick if I ate one more bite.
