    Wait, why sugar free?

It's not the taste of artificial sweetners I mind it's the fact that they are artificial I'm not talking long term drinking drinks with sugar in them but just for the first week or two it seems like it would help with energy and such. Even if I drank 3 vitamin waters a day in those first few weeks that would total to 375 calories and from what I've read if I can get in that much fluid I'll be doing awesome. Once I'm on full liquids I can see how drinking those might get out of hand as you can drink shakes at that stage too and those can pack quite a bit of calories. THoughts?

    Pills POSTOP?

I never even thought about pills postop. I have all my vitamins in pill form and my calcium is horse pill sized. Can I take those as soon as I'm out of surgery? Yikes!
  5. Your post made me tear up Joe. I wish the best for you, you really deserve it!

    A million last meals

I cannot wait for my date to get here. I keep eating like every meal is my last. :confused1: Instead of doing the 1 week low carb diet I'm going to have to do 2 weeks just to be at the weight I filled out a week ago on my forms. My eating is so out of control. I'm ready for my new life! Bring. it. ON!

Am I doing this right? Preop low carb diet

I've been counting total carbs and this is typically what I eat Breakfast 3 eggs, 2 pieces of sausage, 3tbs cheese, low carb torillia = 9 carbs lunch is a Protein (kind) nut bar 11-15 carbs depending on which one I pick dinner Turkey or steak green Beans and salad 4-5 carbs Snacks ceasar salads - the croutons I weighed myself Saturday evening and I weight at 276.6 and this morning I weighed myself at 271.6. The scale is kinda crappy and the time of day is different so I just cannot believe that I would have lost that many lbs in such few days. On another note, today is my birthday and I REALLY want a starbucks yummy coffee but it has to be low carb and suggestions?

    The New VST

You just have to push the view new content button in the upper right and corner and that's the "new posts" button. It's not bad just takes some getting used to.
  9. It seems to me that those people who have the most sucess with the VSG are people who had the lapband before. I wonder why this is. I've thought of a few reasons that could be. They already had gotten much of their eating undercontrol with the band. Their body was so starved for nutrients (with all the vomiting and all) that once they ate food with their vsg their bodies dropped it more quickly. They had one surgery which didn't last so they make the most of this surgery and follow the rules to a T. What are your experiences/thoughts about this?

    Depressed "/

I did Dr Phil's 7 keys to weighloss freedom and lost 40lbs in two months. I wasn't hungry on it and reading the whole book really kept me motivated. If you can stomach him maybe you could try that.

    October Surgeries!!

Great to hear from you!! Glad you are doing well!
  12. Yes, I ate everything before my diet started. I put on 7lbs infact. It's terrible but I felt like I had to eat some of everything I loved (which obviously was a lot of things) before my surgery. Also eating is one of the things my family loves to do together and we took a mini trip and of course ate out there a lot. I'm on my preop diet of low carb and I'm doing fine. I'm really not craving anything.

  15. I am being sleeved on the 8th and leaving for Mexico on the 7th. I cannot believe that this time next week I will be post-op. I'm not really worried more consumed with things I still need to do. I am a little worried about how my kids will do (2yrs and 5 yrs) as I have never spent a night away from them their whole lives and I'm a stay at home Mom so they spend the majority of time with me. I made a little shelf for all the samples of protien powders, vitamins, and I'm rereading my instructions. I have never been on a plane either heck I haven't slept alone in a bed by myself in nearly 11 years. I keep thinking I should get a webcam and make videos incase I die, for my kids :scared0: What a crazy week this will be. I'm so ready to be on the other side.

    monthly cycles....

Do you have the copper or the Merina (sp)? I have the copper and I asked today and she said it was the perfect Birthcontrol for this surgery. I had my yearly exam this morning fyi. I'm not sure about the one using hormones. You dont have to take it out but you might ask about using a back up method.

Post-op 10 days - has not been easy!

Sounds like your body is hanging on to all it's resources since you aren't getting enough in. That's why the scale isnt' moving and you are feeling so tired. JMO

    Coconut Water

Haha my first son was born my c-section after 19 hours of pit induced labor (I was ignorant about pit and induction) so my homebirth was a hella lot easier to recover from and have in general. I'd be chicken to go back into the hospital again for a birth lol!

    Pain Pills

How does that work if you got your surgery in Mexico? I'm assuming you can't take pain meds across the border and a pharmacy wouldn't fill Rx from Mexico.

    Coconut Water

I do! I first became familuar with it when I had a homebirth for my second baby. My midwife suggested it and remarked that coconut was the only food you could live solely on. I drank it through my labor and afterwords too. It can also be used in the place of blood transfusions (how cool is that?) I have stocked up on several tins of coconut water for post op.
