  1. I am still waiting for surgery but, I know several people have had trouble getting all their protein in, in the beginning. So, I checked into several different kinds. I found these protein ready to drinks and they are only 2.9 oz each and have 26g of protein. It's called Super Whey Protein Shot. I found them at Wal-Mart. They come in fruit punch and really don't taste bad. I don't know if this will help you, but I hope it does. Best of luck.
  2. I so wish I could help. I am in Dallas, but having my surgery on Friday. There are several others on the forum from Dallas, hope one of them can help you out. Best of luck.
  3. I was worried about this so I spoke to my pharmacist. As it turns out, not all pills are safe to crush and not all capsules should be opened. Get info on your meds to be safe. There are alternatives to many such as ones that come in liquid form and for ones you still have trouble with, there are compound pharmacies that mix meds from scratch in granule form.
  4. WOW, this thread really hits home. I'm not even sleeved yet, but on my liquid diet. 5 days of no food and I can really see how much of an emotional eater I am. For example, I had problems with my pc earlier today and the more frustrated I got, the more I thought about food. My pent up frustration got so bad that I had an argument with my husband, which he totally didn't deserve. I just kept thinking, if I could just eat something.... I'm finally past the actual hunger, it's just the comfort I crave. There's the real problem. What ever made us think we could find comfort in food. Shouldn't we be finding comfort, which is an emotion, from our faith or other people. That's why it never ends, because food is false, temporary comfort. It can NEVER really comfort us or solve the issues that drove us to it in the first place. But, I still want it!
  5. I'm only a few days from surgery and have been wondering about just this very thing. If I don't feel hunger, what signals will I get to know it's time for "fuel", aside from regular meals of course? Guessing it may be different somewhat for different people, but maybe there are some common clues. If anyone is willing to share those, I would appreciate it.
  6. Gratz, that's great. Best of luck to you.
  7. That's awesome! Enjoy the foods, I know those shakes get old fast.
  8. WooHoo! Best of luck.
  9. Best of luck to you.
  10. Welcome and gratz on getting a date. Sounds like you have a good support system with your family. That is great. Best wishes with your procedure. Keep us posted.
  11. Terri, 3 nights in a row sounds TERRIFIC! I'm still working at it. Thanks again to everyone for suggestions and encouragement, it really helps.

I'm still struggling with the CPAP but am putting up with it for now and just hoping I won't need it for long after the surgery. This is day 3 of liquids. It's not really as bad as I thought it would be. But, I am hungry! It's very hard to get food out of my head but I guess it's normal to obsess on what you can't have. I don't feel persecuted at all by giving up smoking, food and my beloved dr. pepper. I see it as a path to where I want to be. Five more days till surgery and I can hardly wait.

Like you said, there are many here who have had revisions and are so happy that they made the change. I think the way you are feeling is normal. I agree, your horoscope was very interesting! Best of luck.
  14. Gratz and best wishes for continued success.
  15. SlimMissy, I'm on a pre-op diet. It seems they are very varied depending on the surgeon.
  16. My liquid plan allows broth, protein shakes (made with water or skim milk), Crystal Light, jello, light drinkable yogurt and sf popsicles.
  17. I'm on day 3 of liquids, ugh. I am hungry but the worst part is mental. If I could stop thinking about it for a minute, maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
  18. I start liquids in the morning! I'm a little anxious about it, but gonna do my best. Good luck.
  19. That is exactly what I wanted to hear as I have surgery in 1 week. Sounds like a dream come true. Gratz on your success.
  20. I sort of have to agree. You have waited this long. Besides, even if EVERYTHING goes by the textbook, don't you want to enjoy your wedding dinner and cake? I would not want to be eating mushies at my wedding or on my honeymoon. That's just me. Do what makes you happy. Follow your inner voice!
  21. I think you just copy the BBBC code and paste that in. I had my last apt yesterday with the nutritionist and all I start liquids tomorrow, then surgery on June 4th. I can hardly wait.
  22. I am just so happy for you. You are like the poster girl for the sleeve! Best wishes for you continued success. I'm looking forward to catching up with you soon.
  23. Thanks everyone. I'll keep trying and I will use Kleenex, that really may help.
  24. Thanks Kathy and thanks KabinKitty, I will check into that.
