  1. I am so glad to hear she has made progress and is getting better. Bless you both.
  2. I don't have any advice for you about your weight loss, but congrats on the baby!:001_wub:
  3. Christie, I am so proud of you and so very happy for you. What a huge thing to do. You came into this whole thing with such a great attitude and have kept that momentum going. I look forward to following your progress. Gratz, keep it up!
  4. I have another week on liquids so can relate. I too obsess about mushies, LOL. I was doing great in the beginning with my protein, but have gotten to the point that I can't stomach the sickening sweet smell, much less the taste.
  5. I have antique china, which is nice because the pieces are much smaller than modern china. So, I use a salad plate for dinner and a small bowl for soups. I felt like this occasion was worthy of the china and the size is a huge mental thing for me as well. The only thing I really bought was from Bed, Bath and Beyond, it's a 6 piece, toddler size set of flatware. The silver being proportionate to the dishes is great for me and helps in taking small bites.
  6. I can't believe she was so dumb as to tell you it was your fault. Attitude my ass, I have had several complications and no amount of butterflies and rainbows were gonna make them go away. She should count her blessings that she is doing so well. You hang in there. I'm glad the doc cleared you. Keep on sipping. We are on our way, just maybe a little slower than some.
  7. Oh, yummy! Thanks for posting this, I have had it before and loveeeeee it. Had no idea it was so easy to make.
  8. I was at Forest Park as well. Very nice facility.
  9. I get the bubble thing too and I also get that pain you mentioned. I don't know what it is, but am glad to know I am not the only one.
  10. If you are taking pain meds, try to see if the itching worsens soon after you take it. If so, tell your dr and ask for something different.
  11. Welcome home! So, glad to see you posting already. (((hugs)))
  12. Thanks everyone again for all of the well wishes. You guys are such a great source of inspiration. tbarnes, my surgeon is Dr. Wade Barker, and I agree that my Dr has been pro-active in my care and for that I am very grateful.
  13. Two days after my last post, I went for my 1st post-op follow up. The dr was very concerned with how much my stomach was distended, how much Fluid I was retaining, and with the noises he heard in my chest. He called ahead to the E.R. so they would be ready for me. The X-ray did in fact show pneumonia. Fortunately the CT scan of my chest and intestines showed no blockage or bleeding. So, I was readmitted, got another pic line and started getting pumped full of drugs again. The dr seems to think that my belly sticking out is the result of the bleed I had after my surgery. I still have a lot of abdominal pain and swelling, but am very glad to be home. I'm still on antibiotics and will be for another week. I'm giving myself 3 heparin shots a day to prevent clotting. (When a nurse said she needed to give me a heparin shot in my tummy, I told her that if she did that I may become violent and then asked her if she had seen Pulp Fiction. LOL) Now I am so far behind schedule that I can see my own ass and it looks just like before. My weight at consult 257 My weight pre-op 238 My weight release from hospital 262 :biggrin0: Hubby keeps reminding me that I will eventually start losing weight, but to be honest, I just want to feel better. Thanks for all the well wishes. You are all wonderful.
  14. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It's 4:19 p.m. and we have been home about an hour. A long day not to mention a very long week. I wanted to pop on to say hello and to let you know I am doing MUCH better. Some sleep in my own bed is sounding really good, so I am headed that way. I'll be on sometime in the next day or too when I have caught up on some rest. Again, thanks to you all and best of luck to those of you getting ready to take the next step. Don't be discouraged by the fluke that hit me. The norm is much different. So be safe and I look forward to chatting with you all soon.
  15. I apologize for just now getting this news to you however, nothing since Friday been easy. What we hadn't realized is that internet access must be granted from the admininstration office and since we missed it on Friday we had to wait until today to get access. We checked into the hospital at 8:30 a.m. and waited until much later for her to be taken back for her procedure. That evening while she was in recovery from her hernia and sleeve surgery, my impression was that she was fine and that nothing was out of the ordinary. This was true for about 3 hours. I was with her in her room when someone came to draw blood couldn't seem to get a vein to produce enough blood. Two nurses tried a for about half an hour. They asked me to leave the room because they were also unable to establish a blood pressure reading, they decided to put a "central" line in her neck so they could draw blood, monitor her pressure and for i.v.. use. When I walked out I noticed a red light outside the door. Assuming this wasn't too much out of the ordinary, I went to grab a soda. When I came back the light was off, when I got close the light came back on, but this time it was blue. People scrambled to her room, I asked what was happening and told by a nurse that she didn't know yet. Without an explanation, her anistesiologist walked past and told me to wait outside. When they let me back in, I was told that she had a very low heoglobin count, has passed out and that they had going to give her blood throughout the night, which ended up being 4 pints. Another pint would come 2 days later. At this point the origin of the blood leak is still a mystery, but it has seemed to stop. Today she is feeling about 70% she says. She is tolerating liquids well and walking a few times a day. She said she will give you a personal update tomorrow, hopefully from the house.
  16. Thanks, and no Goodlife I didn't call the dr. I figured he would cancel on me and I might be better tomorrow so I'm just hoping
  17. Good luck with the consult, have a safe trip.
  18. Thanks for the advice and well wishes.
  19. I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow and have a rotten cold. I am sneezing, coughing. If I don't miraculously lose it by tomorrow, I doubt seriously they will operate. I have been on liquids for a week and can't imagine getting my date pushed back to who know when.

  23. Thanks. I was only planning on using them right after surgery if I couldn't get in enough.
