Kinda bummed!!!!
I had to give myself heparin shots 3 times a day after I left the hospital. But, it is because I have a back condition that keeps me pretty sedentary, so since I don't get much exercise, they felt I needed the extra precaution against blood clots.

Was it worth it?
I have lost 11 lbs since surgery and I'm 3 weeks post op. I don't see the 11 lbs as a great victory. Anyone would lose weight after being on liquids for 4 weeks. It doesn't have anything to do with the surgery. I'm miserable. I still can't sleep in my bed. I measured myself and my waist is 1 1/2 inches bigger and my hips are 1 inch bigger than before surgery. My pants now fit tighter than ever. I can't eat, and I have to force myself to drink. My whole abdomen is still so sore. I know we are all different and heal at different rates but this has just gone past ridiculous. Everyday I come here and read about how great everyone is doing. From great weight loss to crazy amounts of walking, etc. I am having a really tough time seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and I'm so scared.

Feeling really sick
Don't get discouraged about the weight. I gained 26 lbs the first week from water weight! It came off, just hang in there. I'm glad you got some meds so you can kick this thing. As tough as it is, try to stay hydrated, especially since you have had a fever. Take care, and keep us posted.

I'm home.....again.
Thanks for asking Christie. I'm getting there slowly but surely. I had another follow up today with my dr, he is really happy with how I have done since my last hospital stay. My cough is almost gone and I haven't had to use oxygen for 2 days. Because I am sedentary due to my back, I have been giving myself 3 heparin shots a day which have left me sore. But, after the dr saw my tummy today, he said I can start going in the pool for activity which means I can stop the shots. I am so happy about that. I have also lost all of the Water weight I gained in the hospital (26 lbs) so I am feeling more comfy in my own skin now that all that tightness is gone. My body is still really sore in several places due to pic lines, etc. But, I feel SO much better than I did a week ago. I know I am behind where I should be. It's really easy to lose site of hope when big things keep happening. However, having crossed these hurdles and being on the other side of them now gives me great hope. I'll soon be catching up to you guys soon, so look out! LOL Again Christie thanks for asking, it was so very sweet and thoughtful of you.

Question for Dr Davidson patients - dallas tx
I am not a Dr Davidson patient but it's pretty much the same with staples no matter where you go. It doesn't hurt or cause any new soreness. In fact it feels great when they are out, less tightness and itching. Generally you don't have much feeling at the incision line anyway due to them cutting through nerves. Really there is nothing at all to worry about. You will be fine.
