  1. Oh, a man with a butt! LOL I caught what you said about the clothes and relaxed fits, etc. on the other post. It makes so much sense. I haven't gotten out yet to shop for "normal" clothes, so not sure about the fabric touching the body thing. What I am finding though is that even though some of my old, smaller clothes fit now and look good, I still reach for something baggy. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how much of that is habit and how much of it is not being comfortable yet with my new shape. I know that sounds weird. I have thought all along that I wouldn't buy clothes unless I had too until I was done losing. But, I now wonder if that's a big mistake. Wearing better fitting clothes would make me look and feel better. Also, it would likely make me more accountable if I felt any weight creeping back on.
  2. Duh, me! I am so glad you pointed that out. I think all I own are relaxed fit clothes. Of course they are gonna fit differently. THANKS! Hope the clothes shopping goes well for you.
  3. As a matter of fact, I have lost differently than before. In the past it was boobs and tummy, now it's legs and butt. Don't know if it's the surgery, the high Protein or what. But, I'll take it just the same, LOL.

I was way behind the progress of others. We heal at different rates. I know it's hard but try to be patient and not push yourself. Best of luck.
  5. This is a very common problem. Family, friends, co-workers. If they are overweight, they don't want to be left behind. Sometimes they are afraid of losing the friendship. Like once you're thin, maybe you will change your circle of friends, etc. There are a lot of reasons people get jealous/afraid. All you can do, is what you know is best for you and hope they will understand.
  6. WTG. you're right for a low BMIer that's awesome. Now the trick will be not to expect that next time. It will slow down, and as long as you are mentally prepared for that, you will do well. I am so glad things are going so well for you this time. Best of luck to you.
  7. I got a menu plan from my doc. liquids 3 weeks, soft/mushies 2 weeks, etc. Each dr and nut are different. If they haven't given you a plan, by all means ask for one. Once you are ready to try things after surgery, check the recipe section, there's some good stuff there for newbs.
  8. Fingers crossed for you.
  9. Ya'll are cracking me up. :confused1:
  10. The rule from my doc was this...use fat free or lactaid milk pre-op and while on liquids after surgery. Once mushies are intrduced, no more calories from liquids in the shakes, i.e. milk or juice.
  11. WTG. You have been so committed, you deserve this. I can't imagine being so close to goal. You must be ecstatic . Best of luck on kicking those last few pounds to the curb. You have been such an encouragement to me, thanks.
  12. Jane, I am so very happy for you. You are such a delight and always have positive input for people here. You are such a blessing. Thanks for being you and best of luck to you sweetie.
  13. I couldn't wait to have pizza again. We tried it last week. I was so grossed out. I couldn't even swallow it. The grease from the cheese and meat was disgusting to me. I think after the pre-op diet and eating so healthy now for 3 months, my tastes have changed in a good way. I am so thankful.
  14. When I got my surgery, I had stopped wearing jeans because I had to lay on the bed to zip them up. I had been wearing a very tight 24. This week I decided to go root around in my closet and try on some old clothes for the first time since my surgery. I got into a size 18 jeans, zipped and buttoned (without laying on the bed, lol). I turned and looked at my backside in the mirror and noticed that my a$$ has fallen off. :confused1: Also, my BMI has fallen under 30, which means I am no longer morbidly obese, or obese, I am just overweight. I never thought I would be happy to say that. Then, I noticed how bad I needed to clean the streaks off my bathroom mirror. LOL
  15. That is so awesome, Deb. To see such quick results in your health blows me away. It's just gonna keep getting better gf. :confused1:
  16. I agree, you are very mindful after surgery. However, if you are really concerned, get that bad stuff out of the house, which you really should do anyway. Best of luck to you.
  17. Everyone is different, but if I don't take mine at bedtime, I wake up several times with the burning.
  18. There are differing opinions on the need for the bracelet. But, I have one. Mine says: Gastric Sleeve 6/10 NO blind NG tube Allery to: list any drug allergies you have Although many drs and pts don't see the need for one, my understanding is that a blind NG tube shoved into your small sleeve can rip a hole in it. So, I wear it to be on the side of caution. I may not wear it forever. But, after the complications I have had and only 3 months out, I thought better safe than sorry. If you want to see some REALLY nice choices, go to Medical ID Bracelets, Medical Alert Jewelry, Medical Alert Bracelets
  19. I am so glad that you are doing so well. I like the challenge. It is hard to imagine what I used to carry around. Best of luck for continued success.
  20. I knew you were gonna do GREAT. You were so prepared. I am really proud of you. You are gonna be the poster child for VSG when you're done! Keep rockin that sleeve sista and welcome to the losers bench. hugs, Maddie

  23. What wonderful news! I am very happy for you. The ring is lovely. Congrats.
  24. After my surgery, I was in recovery, when they went to draw some blood and nothing came out. They stuck me a few different places and the same thing happened. My pulse was VERY low. They did a hemoglobin count and realized that I was bleeding internally. It reached a point where they couldn't get my veins at all so the anesthesiologist came in and they inserted a central line into my neck. They had to give me 4 pints of blood before my hemoglobin leveled out. The bleed slowed down but 2 days later, they gave me another pint of blood. I had severe swelling in my abdomen and had serious Water retention. I was released on the 5th day and when I got home and weighed, I had gained 26 lbs.! Between my ballooned out belly, the internal swelling and 5 pints of blood that was still pooled in my abdomen, I had trouble trying to move my diaphram enough to breath. I tried to use the spirometer(sp) to keep my lungs working but it was so difficult that, 4 days later, I was readmitted for phneumonia. I spent another 4 days in the hospital for that. A few weeks after that I started having gallbladder attacks and ended up in the ER. While there they did a CT scan of my belly to check for a leak. What they found what that instead of absorbing back into my body tissue, that all those 5 pints of blood had "organized" and created 3 large clots. By now, 1 of them had liquified, so they inserted a drainage tube. They also did another endoscopy to look inside my new tummy. This was to look for a leak or infection from a different direction. The surgeon showed me a picture along the staple line that was a different color from the rest of it and had a slight protrusion. So, he added some clamps to the area. Three days later I had a gallbladder removed. Normally the gallbladder requires 1 small incision. But, when the surgeon took a look, he could see 1 of the other blood clots (the largest one) and decided to cut it up and take it out. This meant I ended up with 4 more incisions instead of 1. In all, I was under anesthesia 5 times in 7 weeks. My stomach looks like a tic-tac-toe board. I'll be honest, I was really scared there for a while and my poor hubby was put through the ringer with worry. There was honestly a point where I didn't care if I ever lost weight. I just wanted to stay out of the hospital. I am 2 months 3 weeks out, even though it feels like it been longer. Over the past couple of weeks, I have been getting stronger and feeling better. I have now lost a total of 61 pounds. I am off all blood pressure meds. I no longer require my CPAP machine. The weight loss has eased the pain in my back due to 4 herniated discs. I don't get out of breath when I walk around. My knees don't hurt as much. I spent a good while with buyers remorse. But, as I get stronger and my health starts to get better and better, I know I made the right choice. Any surgery comes with risks. I was just unlucky. There are peeps who sail through and sadly some that have it so much worse than I did. All you can do, is get as much info as you can so that you are mentally prepared for whatever happens. Listen to your dr and your nut and take good care of yourself. I wish you the very best.
  25. Great news, I am looking forward to seeing how my labs turn out. I go to the dr tomorrow.
