Hi Carole, I think the support group will help you answer some questions since all groups are represented. You will find that here many members have had revision surgery from the band to the sleeve. So, before making a final choice, I would do more research. Best of luck.

Mary, that's too funny! Seems like we have to relearn everything LOL. Catyroses, after you asked, I seemed to remember my mom used to like the microwave ones. So, I called her this afternoon and she said they are great. I found some on Amazon and ordered them.:biggrin0:

Nexium...the little purple pill
Maddie replied to cactusmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My understanding is that is varies from person to person. Some ppl get off it with no problems while others don't. One idea though, since you wake up feeling acid, have you considered taking the Nexium at bedtime to maybe prevent the acid instead of chasing it by taking it in the morning? Don't know if that will help, but may be worth a try. -
Post Op questions - How long?
Maddie replied to BandMomsRock's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to drink all my fluids from day one. As far as the incisions, I wish I knew. I'm 2 weeks out and still can't lay on my side, and I'm a side sleeper! -
I used Dr Wade Barker in Dallas, TX.

I am so glad to hear she has made progress and is getting better. Bless you both.

I don't have any advice for you about your weight loss, but congrats on the baby!:001_wub:

I have another week on liquids so can relate. I too obsess about mushies, LOL. I was doing great in the beginning with my protein, but have gotten to the point that I can't stomach the sickening sweet smell, much less the taste. -
Dishes/utensils... recommendations?
Maddie replied to CraftyChristie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have antique china, which is nice because the pieces are much smaller than modern china. So, I use a salad plate for dinner and a small bowl for soups. I felt like this occasion was worthy of the china and the size is a huge mental thing for me as well. The only thing I really bought was from Bed, Bath and Beyond, it's a 6 piece, toddler size set of flatware. The silver being proportionate to the dishes is great for me and helps in taking small bites. -
Back from surgery...FOrest Park Med Center
Maddie replied to zephra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't believe she was so dumb as to tell you it was your fault. Attitude my ass, I have had several complications and no amount of butterflies and rainbows were gonna make them go away. She should count her blessings that she is doing so well. You hang in there. I'm glad the doc cleared you. Keep on sipping. We are on our way, just maybe a little slower than some. -
Oh, yummy! Thanks for posting this, I have had it before and loveeeeee it. Had no idea it was so easy to make.

Back from surgery...FOrest Park Med Center
Maddie replied to zephra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was at Forest Park as well. Very nice facility. -
I get the bubble thing too and I also get that pain you mentioned. I don't know what it is, but am glad to know I am not the only one.
-
If you are taking pain meds, try to see if the itching worsens soon after you take it. If so, tell your dr and ask for something different.

I apologize for just now getting this news to you however, nothing since Friday been easy. What we hadn't realized is that internet access must be granted from the admininstration office and since we missed it on Friday we had to wait until today to get access. We checked into the hospital at 8:30 a.m. and waited until much later for her to be taken back for her procedure. That evening while she was in recovery from her hernia and sleeve surgery, my impression was that she was fine and that nothing was out of the ordinary. This was true for about 3 hours. I was with her in her room when someone came to draw blood couldn't seem to get a vein to produce enough blood. Two nurses tried a for about half an hour. They asked me to leave the room because they were also unable to establish a blood pressure reading, they decided to put a "central" line in her neck so they could draw blood, monitor her pressure and for i.v.. use. When I walked out I noticed a red light outside the door. Assuming this wasn't too much out of the ordinary, I went to grab a soda. When I came back the light was off, when I got close the light came back on, but this time it was blue. People scrambled to her room, I asked what was happening and told by a nurse that she didn't know yet. Without an explanation, her anistesiologist walked past and told me to wait outside. When they let me back in, I was told that she had a very low heoglobin count, has passed out and that they had going to give her blood throughout the night, which ended up being 4 pints. Another pint would come 2 days later. At this point the origin of the blood leak is still a mystery, but it has seemed to stop. Today she is feeling about 70% she says. She is tolerating liquids well and walking a few times a day. She said she will give you a personal update tomorrow, hopefully from the house.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It's 4:19 p.m. and we have been home about an hour. A long day not to mention a very long week. I wanted to pop on to say hello and to let you know I am doing MUCH better. Some sleep in my own bed is sounding really good, so I am headed that way. I'll be on sometime in the next day or too when I have caught up on some rest. Again, thanks to you all and best of luck to those of you getting ready to take the next step. Don't be discouraged by the fluke that hit me. The norm is much different. So be safe and I look forward to chatting with you all soon.

I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow and have a rotten cold. I am sneezing, coughing. If I don't miraculously lose it by tomorrow, I doubt seriously they will operate. I have been on liquids for a week and can't imagine getting my date pushed back to who know when.

Thanks, and no Goodlife I didn't call the dr. I figured he would cancel on me and I might be better tomorrow so I'm just hoping
