It does infuriate me and we are having the similar issues in the USA. Insurance companies are lobbying to be able to exclude obese people from having any insurance coverage at all. There are many variations of what they want to do. But obesity is a disease. If they will pay for an addict to go to rehab, which is freakin expensive, why not an obese person to have surgery? It ends up saving the insurance companies so much money when we get healthy. UGH :tongue_smilie:

Great stats and some wonderful NSV's. Grats, I am so happy for you.
-
Nice surprise! Most peoples tastes change after surgery, so trying Protein drinks before may have only made you spend money now on something you won't like later. Best of luck.

I wish you and your baby the very best.

That is so freakin awesome. You worked really hard to get to this point. I am really proud of you. Keep up the great work gf. You rock.

Clothes that touch your body
Maddie replied to ouroborous's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh, a man with a butt! LOL I caught what you said about the clothes and relaxed fits, etc. on the other post. It makes so much sense. I haven't gotten out yet to shop for "normal" clothes, so not sure about the fabric touching the body thing. What I am finding though is that even though some of my old, smaller clothes fit now and look good, I still reach for something baggy. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how much of that is habit and how much of it is not being comfortable yet with my new shape. I know that sounds weird. I have thought all along that I wouldn't buy clothes unless I had too until I was done losing. But, I now wonder if that's a big mistake. Wearing better fitting clothes would make me look and feel better. Also, it would likely make me more accountable if I felt any weight creeping back on. -
Duh, me! I am so glad you pointed that out. I think all I own are relaxed fit clothes. Of course they are gonna fit differently. THANKS! Hope the clothes shopping goes well for you.

As a matter of fact, I have lost differently than before. In the past it was boobs and tummy, now it's legs and butt. Don't know if it's the surgery, the high Protein or what. But, I'll take it just the same, LOL.

I was way behind the progress of others. We heal at different rates. I know it's hard but try to be patient and not push yourself. Best of luck.

This is a very common problem. Family, friends, co-workers. If they are overweight, they don't want to be left behind. Sometimes they are afraid of losing the friendship. Like once you're thin, maybe you will change your circle of friends, etc. There are a lot of reasons people get jealous/afraid. All you can do, is what you know is best for you and hope they will understand.

WTG. you're right for a low BMIer that's awesome. Now the trick will be not to expect that next time. It will slow down, and as long as you are mentally prepared for that, you will do well. I am so glad things are going so well for you this time. Best of luck to you.

I got a menu plan from my doc. liquids 3 weeks, soft/mushies 2 weeks, etc. Each dr and nut are different. If they haven't given you a plan, by all means ask for one. Once you are ready to try things after surgery, check the recipe section, there's some good stuff there for newbs.
-
Fingers crossed for you.

Ya'll are cracking me up. :confused1:

The rule from my doc was this...use fat free or lactaid milk pre-op and while on liquids after surgery. Once mushies are intrduced, no more calories from liquids in the shakes, i.e. milk or juice.

TODAY - 7 months out and 64.2 pounds gone!
Maddie replied to MINI-Me's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
WTG. You have been so committed, you deserve this. I can't imagine being so close to goal. You must be ecstatic . Best of luck on kicking those last few pounds to the curb. You have been such an encouragement to me, thanks. -
Jane, I am so very happy for you. You are such a delight and always have positive input for people here. You are such a blessing. Thanks for being you and best of luck to you sweetie.

I couldn't wait to have pizza again. We tried it last week. I was so grossed out. I couldn't even swallow it. The grease from the cheese and meat was disgusting to me. I think after the pre-op diet and eating so healthy now for 3 months, my tastes have changed in a good way. I am so thankful.

That is so awesome, Deb. To see such quick results in your health blows me away. It's just gonna keep getting better gf. :confused1: -
I agree, you are very mindful after surgery. However, if you are really concerned, get that bad stuff out of the house, which you really should do anyway. Best of luck to you.

When do you take your PPI?
Maddie replied to SParkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different, but if I don't take mine at bedtime, I wake up several times with the burning. -
There are differing opinions on the need for the bracelet. But, I have one. Mine says: Gastric Sleeve 6/10 NO blind NG tube Allery to: list any drug allergies you have Although many drs and pts don't see the need for one, my understanding is that a blind NG tube shoved into your small sleeve can rip a hole in it. So, I wear it to be on the side of caution. I may not wear it forever. But, after the complications I have had and only 3 months out, I thought better safe than sorry. If you want to see some REALLY nice choices, go to Medical ID Bracelets, Medical Alert Jewelry, Medical Alert Bracelets

I am so glad that you are doing so well. I like the challenge. It is hard to imagine what I used to carry around. Best of luck for continued success.
