  1. I had my surgery on March 18 and my stomach growled plenty. I did and still do get hungry but not as bad as before surgery. I think it gets easier and more easy to manage with a couple months away from surgery when you are adjusted to the new you. It can take a bit of time so don't panic. I still have hunger but when I eat, I fill up fast and with a really small amount of food.
  2. Thanks to all of you for your posts. I think that I am following the rules but I appreciate the suggestions and will revisit my plan to be sure I am doing the right things. I also appreciate hearing from others who are also near the same weight loss rate that I am since it helps me feel that is is more normal than I thought and that I am not alone. I think age also plays a role - I am 57 and I am beginning to see that older people seem to lose a bit slower as well. I am grateful for the responses and will keep the faith and check my nutrition, water and excercise and push forward. Thanks!!
  3. I was sleeved on March 19. So far I have lost 20 pounds and most of that was nearly immediately. Once again I fear I will be the only person who had this surgery and loses 20 pounds and maybe that is it. I am concerned because I feel the same hunger as before surgery only now I can't eat as much so my only choice is to be hungry or eat more often. Today I am in a self pity place. I think I will get on the treadmill instead but I am sure kind of depressed right now.
  4. Congratulations!! You look amazing. You are an inspiration. I am very happy for you!

    Hair loss started today

I am only 3 weeks out so I can't speak from experience but my doctor and nutrionist both said that should not happen at all if you are getting in enough protein. For me that is 45-55 grams per day for my age and body - the doctor should tell you what you need but both said that if you are getting in enough protein and taking the vitamins you need hair loss should never be an issue. Are you getting in enough?

    What is this pain? Help!

Thanks - I appreciate the advice!
  7. I have had my VSG for 3 weeks. Tonight I had a small amount of Macarroni and Cheese. About five minutes after I ate I got a terrible "ice cream headache" feeling - really bad, felt the need to burp a lot and had a tightness and pain in my chest. What does that mean? Did I eat too much? Has anyone had this? Why would I get an ice cream headache from eating something that is not cold? How do people normally feel if they eat too much or too fast or don't chew well enough? I don't know what I did wrong but whatever I did - it hurts!

    Questions..please help!

I had a lap band for 8 months - it slipped and I had to have emergency surgery to remove it. It was not a good experience for me. I had lots of trouble with many foods that I just could not eat, I did not lose much weight, and although I could not eat much I felt hungry all the time. With the sleeve, removing the part of the stomach that creates the Grehllin that signals hunger has made me feel satisfied most all the time and if I get a bit of a hunger twing I eat a tiny amount and the hunger is GONE. I would definately recommend SLEEVE
  9. I am a bit worried and hoping for some info on how much to expect to loose. I had my surgery March 18 and since then have gone from 226 to 213 wich is only 13 pounds lost in about 3 weeks. The last few days I have lost nothing at all and even gained 1/2 pound. How is that possible? Eating only 2 ounces of liquids 3 times a day plus my protein requirement? I sort of expected to lose some thing every day or every other day. Is this normal progess? --- Thanks, Maggie
