    herbs, spices & Kombucha

I am 7 weeks out from my surgery and am starting to venture out a bit. I have tried a Kombucha drink and have determined that it will have to be an acquired taste for me. In looking at internet articles, I'm not sure exactly how good it can be for you, as I could not find any articles where the nutritional or health values have been proven. However, I am willing to try it again, enough to see if it helps me feel better. I have tried a little bit of herbs in some of my food, like a little basil or parsley and have had no ill effects. I would try a little at a time to see how well you tolerate it. And the baby-food stage will pass soon enough.

    Tortillas are No Go!

How long has it been since your surgery? It may be that you will do better a little further down the road. I know we're supposed to be changing our eating habits along with lifestyle, but some things are just hard to do without completely. I am only 3 1/2 weeks out since my VSG surgery, and it's getting easier every day to each a better variety of food. The protien shakes still feel the best on my stomach, but I have had a few steamed veggies (very soft!) and a little baked fish. I know I'll never be able to eat my favorite meal, a steak, baked potato, salad and rolls at one time again, and I'm fine with that. Wish you luck with the tortillas!

How long until I begin to feel "normal"?

Thanks, guys. I am just impatient. I know I'm never going to eat like I used to, but last night I had a dream that I cooked myself a big ol' hamburger, put pickles, lettuce, tomato and all that on it, brought some fries out of the oven, had ketchup on my plate, and brought it all to the table to eat it with a Diet Coke. Then I woke up and didn't even get to eat it! But then I realized that I will not be a slave to that anymore, and it made the whole surgery experience worth every minute.
  4. I am finishing my second week after VSG and am getting frustrated, because it seems like there are very few things that I can eat right now and my stomach not hurt. I am still trying to distinguish between pain (although it'c very little) and hunger (???) and trying to figure out what my body is trying to tell me. And then there is also distinguishing between gas and diarreah (BIG issue). I am in the pureed food stage (baby food, :tongue_smilie:although not appetizing, settles best on my stomach). I am also still doing protein shakes some, because they seem to satisfy and my belly's not upset after. I am trying to follow all the rules, but I am wondering how long until I can just eat something without it hurting? I also am feeling the "airy, burpy" thing going on when I swallow too much (which is more than a sip) at a time. Those of you who are way down the road, what do you think? :cursing:
