what med did they give you post op?
I had a pain ball plus morphine every 4 hours. And I made sure to keep track of it myself b/c often they would not give it to me unless I asked. I took as much as I was allowed while in there regardless. When I got out they gave me loritab. Within about 5 days I didn't feel the need for it anymore and I stopped taking it. To be honest, I didn't like how it made me feel after a few days.

Friends told me to slow down :(
Ok I started out at 417. Today I am 388. I had my surgery 6/28. I started out walking 2 houses and back every day. Each day I add another 2 houses. So I finally made it all the way around the block and it is a major victory for me!! Prior to surgery, I could barely make it up out of the chair and walk across the room. So for me this is a big deal. I posted it on my FB and next thing I know I have like 3 different FB friends telling me to slow down b/c I'm doing too much. I'm overdoing it. I need to let my body recover. I need to just take it easy etc. Really irked me.

What size egg do you buy?
I scramble an egg and it is super tiny. Maybe 5 bites. Is this right?

What portion should I eat (1/4 cup, 1/2 cup?)
My surgeon said I can eat eggs etc at week 2 post op but I don't recall ever being told how much we can eat and that is bothering me. What were others told? 1/4 cup? 1/2 cup? I don't want to eat until I'm full. I want to make sure I"m not eating too much

24 pounds down!
I had my post op appt today and was happy that I've lost a total of 24 pounds. I lost 15 of those pounds since surgery and the others I lost on pre op diet. Today I can have real food which is really exciting . I ate some refried beans watered down with broth (the dreaded broth). I melted some cheese and used a little taco sauce. That might have been a bit too adventurous but I did it. I ate it without any problems but it didn't seem that filling to me. Plus I don't like the 16 grams of carbs so I think I'm not going to eat it again. Plus the taco sauce is good but has 2 carbs per tablespoon and that could get out of control. It was super tasty though for having not had food in practically 20 days! But I'm throwing it out b/c I could foresee it causing me problems as I do love mexican food. Later I made 2 eggs in the microwave. Sat down and ate 5 bites and very suddenly a super full feeling came over me and I felt nauseous. I even spit out the bite I had in my mouth. I think the egg was more filling and I will stick to high protein low carb from here on out.

Got sleeved 6/28!!
I finally got sleeved 6/28 with Dr. Cavazos in San Antonio, TX. I started my pre-op diet at 417. Prior to surgery I had to do a 10 day shake diet. I cheated a couple of days but the doctor said it still managed to do a good job shrinking my liver. 2 days prior to surgery I went on clear liquids. I've continued to be on liquids the past 9 days since I got out of surgery. Clear liquids being water, broth, sf jello and sf popsicles. I discovered the popsicles have an unfortunate 4 carbs each in them so I have been avoiding them. So in total I've not had any food in about 19 days. SO I'm hungry! I don't know about others but whatever stomach got left behind IS hungry. It's not the insane hunger that it used to be but it's definitely there. I'm going to assume that is normal. Yesterday I broke down and ate some creamed soup even though I'm supposed to stay on clear liquids one more day but my stomach took it just fine and it was amazing! Tomorrow I go to post op and will be moved to semi solid foods. Wow I can't wait! I have so far lost 21 lbs total and I am under 400! So things are looking up:)

9 days out and hungry!
I've been on clear liquids since 2 days before surgery and a 10 day shake diet prior to that. Technically I am supposed to be on clear liquids until tomorrow. After my post op appt tomorrow I will be able to move into Semi solid food according to my Dr. such as eggs and refried beans. So even though I am not technically supposed to do this I broke down and bought some creamed soup. I thought I was going to go insane!! I literally feared my children's lives if they stayed around me and I couldn't have something of some substance. I know I got like 80% of my stomach removed but the other 20% is HUNGRY. I suppose that is normal. Part of me says "See?? They took out most of your stomach and you're still hungry" but the other part says that it's normal to get hungry still. Anyway, I ate some cream of potato soup. I made it with water and not milk. I added an extra half can of water. I ate only the cream and not the potatos. It was probably the worst choice but man it was GOOD! My body seemed to handle it. I hope I didn't make any major blunders.

So Sick of Clear liquids
How do you get in any protein at all on clear liquids? I'm on them as well until Thursday and as far as I know I'm not supposed to worry about protein until I can get to something that has protein in it! Boy I can't wait!

5 months out, 113 lbs down! With Photos
Great job and a great inspiration! You have attacked this holistically it sounds like to me using it as a tool but still being diligent about your food and also incorporating in a serious workout regimen. Thanks for laying it out there for us. I'm so impressed!

Need some good come back tips for the neg. people
I'm the opposite. I've told everybody!! lol...But I'll admit there are people that are negative. I was shocked that someone called me just the other day to tell me nothing but horror stories of others who did not fare well. I really think people's reactions reveal a lot about them. Of course people will be concerned for your safety going through the surgery but there is a line some cross with the negativity which makes you wonder why they have such an issue. I basically make a mental note of who those people are and keep moving.

Have you called your surgeon? Maybe you should go into the hospital until they can get you rehydrated. I'm really thinking of you.

My Pre-Op diet (on day 3)
I'm on a 10 day pre-op diet. An Atkins shake every 2 hours. Between 6-8 a day. Water of course. This is day 3. It sucks a lot. I've lost 6 lbs but I'm really hungry and now I'm having diarrhea. Gotta keep my eye on the prize

Lifetime Fitness?
I'm thinking of joining this gym. I hate working out but this gym looks like something I could deal with. Has anyone experienced it or have opinions? Thanks!
