9 days out and hungry!

I've been on clear liquids since 2 days before surgery and a 10 day shake diet prior to that. Technically I am supposed to be on clear liquids until tomorrow. After my post op appt tomorrow I will be able to move into Semi solid food according to my Dr. such as eggs and refried beans. So even though I am not technically supposed to do this I broke down and bought some creamed soup. I thought I was going to go insane!! I literally feared my children's lives if they stayed around me and I couldn't have something of some substance. I know I got like 80% of my stomach removed but the other 20% is HUNGRY. I suppose that is normal. Part of me says "See?? They took out most of your stomach and you're still hungry" but the other part says that it's normal to get hungry still. Anyway, I ate some cream of potato soup. I made it with water and not milk. I added an extra half can of water. I ate only the cream and not the potatos. It was probably the worst choice but man it was GOOD! My body seemed to handle it. I hope I didn't make any major blunders.

I did the exact same thing. It helped me tremendously. I also bought the bean and bacon soup and ate just the juice. I did however find out that I'm totally full after about 3 tablespoons! Yikes!

Just be careful not to stretch your stomach or pull staples. I don't even get eggs or refried Beans for 3 more weeks, then they have to be pureed! My doc is really tough ... ugh! Take care !!

Running the foods through the blender or food processor would work fine. I am about to graduate to semisolids, depends on what my dr says tomorrow morning. Take great care not to pull your sleeve or injure the staple line. I know I was hungry, especially for something to chew--not gum, tho! :D Ronda

I am also 9 days out and have had enough of protien shakes and water to last a lifetime!! I have decided that this is more about aversion therapy than surgery. I'm so sick of putting nasty-tasting things in my mouth, I would rather just not eat at all. However, last night I was hungry. Since I was given the okay to eat cream soups this week (not potatoe or corn) and since I'm a vegetarian, I decided to make a little something else. I make split pea soup. I ate about 3 oz. and it was the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. I'm ready to get to the soft diet and leave these nasty shakes behind!!!

Im soooo jealous iv been on shakes and broth for 3 weeks now and I have ANOTHER 3 to go noooooo other soups justttt broth . I was shocked i guess my dr is strict. But this is the pits!!!!
