    H. Pylori

I'm hoping some others will chime in on this, my cousin is doing her preop and tested positive, was put on antibiotics and we go back tomorrow to re-test. If she retest negative the Dr, then goes in with a scope. I' had zero issues with the H pylori but am worried about her, hoping I'm not encouraging her to proceed to surgery .

Serious doubts after visit with surgeon (long)

Find another surgeon! My daughter had RNY and has had problems, Fainting and is below her goal, she constntly eats and still loses, The $ they make onthe "Gold Standard" is alot more than the sleeve, just my opinion. I'm 53 , Idecided on surgery Feb 1st of last year and 2 months later I had it bcause I was like you, I had the 6 months done, I had to do a pys eval and heart check up but iy sounds like your Dr is trying to delay you. Hope that doesent offend you but there are ther Dr's out there with more sleeve expierence. Good Luck!

    REGRET

I am 9 months out and havent lost any in 3 months but I am happy where I am, the Dr. would like me to lose 10 more so I figure I'll split the difference and lose 5 more. I don't regret it and never had buyers remorse. I know I need only ramp up the exercise and the 5lbs will come off. I have small grandkids and keep all the candy/chips and other things that are bad for sleevers, I don't want the bread or chips but a piece of chocolate is heavenly.lol I literally put the candy wayyy back in the cabinet so I'll leave it alone. I have rhuematoid and do believe this surgery has given me a happier, healthier me!!!

  7. Good Luck on your surgery. The biotoin is to reduce the amount of hairloss, in my opinion it doesen't help but I did take it. Some suggest Zinc also.I started losing hair @ 2 months post op and lost it until 7th month. Today is my 9 month anniversary and my hair is starting to grow back. I'm 53 yrs old and this was the easiest surgery I have ever had. I have never thrown up with the sleeve. Yuo will be able to feel when you are full enough. I stayed 1 nite in the hospital . The pain wasn't bad. Try to drink 2 oz every 15 minutes that you are awake and it will help you stay hydrated, mix unflavored whey Protein in anything you can, broth,Soup. The protein speeds healing. It is an amazing tool.Let us know your ok.

    CONFUSED IN HOUSTON

I have a couple of friends who used him and would not recommend him.One had to have her band removed and used the doctor I ended up choosing I used Dr' Robert Marvin. I highly recommend him but there are alot of good ones in Houston. My daughter used Hadar Spivak.
  9. Just going to jump in here, my Doc would like me to lose 10 more lbs but all my family say "no more" so one minute I'm ok with 180 and the next I start thinking I need to try harder to get a few more lbs off. It doesen't really matter though... because the weight loss stopped in November and I am holding steady following the same diet that I was losing on. I do graze more during the day but the choices are nuts and pork rinds. I walk a mile daily and do ab work to make myself feel better about the grazing.I'm 5'8 and 180 in a size 10 so I look thin even though 180 sounds so high. I think mybe I should lose 5 lbs more. All labs are good. The only honest complaint I have is I'm cold all the time, cannot wait for summer. Carla
  10. 53 for me and it has been an amazing 9 months since surgery. It's like getting a new lease on life..whatever your age. What a wonderful weight loss tool.
  11. My husband and Daughter knew before surgery, after I called my best friend and told her. I don't care who knows I got "sleeved" and as a rsult 3 people I am close to are in the pre-op stages of getting sleeved. Yes, it did bother me some for everyone to know, the discussions about you,the jealousy was the worse (I mean why should a skinny minny care if I lose weight) but it happened and I would do it again in a heartbeat. People are going to talk about it, let them and show them you can rock your sleeve!!!

Iused Dr. Robert Marvin in Houston, my cousin is in the preop stage of self pay with a price of $11,000.00 for everything but insurance to cover the first yr and any complications. $1200.00 extra for that. That is hospital, overnight stay and anthesia. They have patient financing available with Chase also.

    medications....

I don't take a ppi every day, now at 8+ months out I've learned what gives me heartburn. I took ppi before surgery at least a couple of days a week so I'm no different in that respect. I do take Celebrex for arthritis or Aleve if I am out of my precsription, the aleve is worse on the stomach (or so I heard) than Celebrex., hope this helps you.

Eating Only 3 Times a Day and No Snacking...

Tiffy you are soo right! I didn't snack until 6 months out and close to goal but once you start grazing it's hard. I had to rethink my habits on the first of January and nip the snacking if I want to lose 10 more lbs, DH says no more weight loss but he's not the Doctor in chargelol.. I have seen where some people have 6 small meals a day instead of the three, it's whatever works for you but my surgeon said 3 meals too. Good Luck!!

    FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS

When you say babble guts do you mean rumbling and making noises? That is totally normal. I didnt have the shaky or wekness unless it was time for me to drink some protein and that helped the symptons. Tiffy posted somewehre that she drank 2 oz every 15 minutes while awake and that is what helped me with fluids. It's very important to saty hydrated. Watch for fever and if it develops, Call your Dr. Sorry I'm not much help, hope you feel better soon.

    My life changing year

Way to go Sparkle, you look amazing!!!!
  23. I remember reading the advice on this forum to start asking for pain relief as soon as you wake up and I did. I asked for it in recovery. A few hours later the nurse offered to alternate the pain meds and morphine. I said YES!! I had 2 c-sections and a hysterectomy so was expecting PAIN!!!! Within 12 hrs I said- no more to morphine and the pain was just as if I'd done 100 situps. You learn to roll to your side before sitting up. Two days after surgery I walked around Walmart with hubby and even cooked for him. On the 3rd day I remember the incisions itching some and I felt GOOD!! I bought gro on the 4th day and on 8th day drove myself 2 hrs to DR. appt. It isnt bad, just a soreness. Rest, sip and walk. repeat often. Try to get as much protein as you can, it helps with healing. Good Luck!!
  24. I remember telling the surgeon post op that I felt the emptiness and he said "doesen't mean you have to eat" so I went with it. You are only a week out so use the fear of complication to help you. Eat some babybell or anything soft and full of Protein. You CAN do this. Account for your meals and Snacks. Are you losing? The excitment of losing will keep you motivated!
