  1. I am down about 50 pounds an ALWAYS cold. At night I sleep with 2 blankets. I also live in Florida - Jupiter. Our a/c is at the same temp prior to surgery.. I attribute it to the fact that I'm not eating many carbs. Carbs are energy and energy is heat. No carbs.. no heat. My husband is loving it. Prior to surgery, I was always hot and fighting him with the a/c temps! :-)
  2. Hello everyone. Although I don't post often, I always here reading and learning from all of you. Thanks for your insights and for sharing your stories. I'm doing great. I've found a new love for exercise! I work out 5 days a week, eat my Protein and stay on my diet. I was sleeved on March 15th and weighed 226. I'm down 50 pounds TODAY. I feel great. I look great and it is hard to complain when life has so many blessings. Thanks again!

    TMI but help?

Hi Wannalise! So funny.. I got on this forum for this same reason! Thanks for asking! I'm on my 4th week... haven't had a bm in almost 2 weeks! I'll take the advise of some of the posts and hope for the best! Good luck.

    Leak?

Hi Wannalise, I was sleeved on the 15 of March. I had the same feelings that you do. I am just 10 days ahead, but hang in there. It gets better and better everyday. Be sure to keep up with your antacid (previcid) or whatever you are taking. I no longer have any burning sensations. It just takes time. You can do it.. :sad0:
  5. Just reached my 3 1/2 week point and I'm finally able to drink fluids (without the hearburn feeling) I'm still pretty weak, due to 2 weeks of clear fluids. I didn't have ANY protein during that time. I'm now eating an egg a day, taking vitamins (iron, multi, calcium and B12). I'm not feeling as fatigued as I have been and well today... I actually feel good. For the first time in a while. My kids were home from school... I'm enjoying holding, feeding my 10 month old again.. Every day is a new day.. I've enjoyed this one...

    struggling

I was sleeved on 3/15! I too have had trouble with the protien shakes. I think my sense of smell is really heightened and I'm gagging when I am trying to drink them. Next Monday I can start to do more and not just do clear liquids.. so i'm going to give it a go again then. Hang in there. You've had MAJOR surgery. Take some more time off from work if you can... My recover has been amazing.. everyday is really, really better.

    6 days post op

Thanks for the reminder. My husband reminds me to Celebrate the small things at this time (sleeping well, walking, etc.). From what I can read on this website, most everyone feels better once they get through the first 2 weeks. I'm sure it will be the same for me soon. My surgery was laproscopic. I have only a few slits or "gunshot" wounds where the instuments were inserted. They also put a camera down my thoat while I was intubated. Good luck to you!

Thanks for you time. I bought the Biggest Loser protien that you add to water in rasberry flavor and it was not appealing. Thanks for the unjury chicken soup idea. I see that many on this website seem to use it and like it. I'm going to order some. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your insight. I've heard alot about the unjerk chicken soup on this website. I'm going to order some. Thank you! Deb - you are really doing well! I see that our numbers are similar. :-)
  10. Hi everyone. I feel so fortunate to have found this support system. I was sleeved on 3/15. I am okay, but very, very nervous because I am not able to get any protien down. Everything I taste is really, really bad. I'm on Clear liquids (chicken broth, sf Jello, sf popsicles and water). I've added protien to Water and unfortunatley it makes me gag and throw it up - at this point, very painful. I'm also not able to get in 64 oz. of liquids a day. I'm fatigued, weak and questioning why I did this. I'm 11 pounds down, but the week has been trying to say the least. I'm feeling depressed and just wish I could follow drs orders. I know protien is important. What's going to happen if I can't get this stuff down? Any insight to this would be most helpful. Thanks! sleeved 3/15 start weight 222 today's weight 211:sad0:
  11. I was just sleeved on 3/15. My surgeon and his staff have been fantastic. I would highly recommend their team to anyone. He is affiliated with Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, Florida. Jupiter is just north of West Palm Beach.

    Scared to death!

Hi I'm having the gastric sleeve on March 15th too!! I'm also a nervous wreck! I have 3 children and a wonderful husband and I'm letting my emotions get away from me. I am really nervous in hospitals and just wish it would be over! I'm assuming that our last minute jitters are normal. Monday will be here soon. Hang in there. It is nice to know I'm no the only one.
  14. I am very excited! I've made the decision to have VSG surgery.. I am currently 226 and 39 yearl old. I've been overweight for the past 18 years and have tried all diets. I'm in the middle of the pre-op stage. I've had the physical/ chest xray and blood work. I have an appointment on Friday with the nutritionist and next Tuesday is my psych evaluation. I'm not nervous at the point. Just ready to get the show on the road. :biggrin0:
