  1. Now that you mention it, I have had a strange taste in my mouth along with the dryness. Is it normal or should I be concerned?
  2. Yes, I struggle with the same issue. Also been overweight at some level most of my life ( I'm 40) and am and will be facing these same issues. I am always the hardest on myself and trying to learn to love myself and accept myself just the way I am this minute. It's a struggle but I think therapy really helps me. Please know you are not alone and I will be happy to share any tips I get along the way. Just pm me!
  3. I am not on that med but take Pristiq and was told my pill was too big. It's slightly bigger than an M&M. I was told crushing wasn't an option. So now I'm having to switch to Cymbalta since it is a capsule and can be dissolved in something. I only have to do it for 6 weeks but still it is hard to think about switching for even that amount of time. I hope you find a way to get something in.

    Finally posting a message

Congratulations on getting a date....that's exciting! The only extra test I had was the EKG. Did they explain why it is necessary? Working with doctors I find that sometimes that don't really explain the reasons behind procedures. If not, feel free to ask. And I bet you can kiss that diabetes away soon!

    Carbonated Drink question

I was like that with Diet Coke and I did like you are by weaning off before my pre-op started. Keep doing what you are doing and I swear it gets better. Now I'm in my pre-op diet and I really don't want one unless my family is eating pizza....then it's a little hard. You can do it!!!
  6. Yea....that's awsome! Waiting for that approval sure seems to take forever. I am so happy for you!
  7. I keep reading that people are throwing up after surgery. From what my doctor said that would happen I ate to fast, too much, or drank to much. Is this usually what causes it or does it just happen. I'm a little worried about it. My surgery isn't until next week but still I'm already a little freaked out about what that would do to my stomach.
  8. I'm six days pre-op and I am right there with you. All i can have is liquid, liquid and more liquid. The sweetness was getting to me to and the only thing that breaks it up is the chicken or beef broth. The popsicles break up the liquid too, but it's still sweet. Hang in there...we will make it!!

    One week to go!!!!

Yea you.....you sound so positive. I'm scheduled one week from today but just had start my liquid diet today. I think you already making it through one week is great. Hang in...we are almost there!
  10. Ok, I am feeling a little better the more of you that comment. I guess I'll just see what happens. I feel like I'm doing a lot of waiting right now!
  11. I was just wondering how you were doing and if you have had to start a pre-op diet yet? Mine is a week of clear liquids and protein drinks. I started today and so far so good!

  12. Thanks so much for the update. I always like to know how you are doing it gives me confidence that I can do it too. I'm a week away and knowing what to expect is soooo helpful! Way to go!!!!
  13. Brian welcome! I too am so sorry about your loss. The decision you have made to have the surgery is courageous, as I think it is for all of us. I discovered this forum before I'd seen my doctor and I can't tell you how wonderful everyone has been. I have my surgery next week and I understand your nervousness. But as everyone has said the people on here are fantastic and I have so much support now. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your experience.

    OhYeah! Protein Drinks

I tried looking it up on GNC website. Is it whey isolate? I only see that it says whey protein. Is that the same?
  15. Congratulations! The two weeks go by fast....at least they are for me.

    INSURANCE approved!!!!

Congratulations! I know what a relief it is to finally get the ok. It took me a while and some fighting to get it, but now we are on our way!!
  18. I'm looking over my 1st week post op diet and wondering how exactly am I supposed to get 48 oz in and 40 grams of protein if all i'm doing is sipping in such small amounts. How did you all do it?
  19. I went to my pre-op this morning and found out that my doc will be out of town on my original surgery date. So now I get to have it two days early....on 5/11. I really can't believe it's getting so close. He was very adamant about clear liquids for two weeks after surgery. I'm figuring 3 weeks of clear liquid is really just a small amount of time in my whole life so I can do it. Plus I get to see that you all did it.....glad you are all out there!
  20. Thanks, that helps. I was thinking of the isopure but didn't know if I would be able to handle the shake. But I bet I could add protein the a Crystal light sort of drink. That seems doable. I just needed to hear that others had some ideas. I really think I may be obsessing about all the details. Maybe need to let go just a bit.
  21. I too had to tell my kids and they are 7 and 10. I just explained that I needed to have some surgery that was going to help make me healthier and that there was some things that needed fixing in my tummy. That seemed to be just enough to satisfy them. Plus I've had some other surgeries so my oldest is more familiar with surgery. Good luck with the conversation. I hope I can say I'm calm in one week. I'm two weeks out and still a little overwhelmed with how to get my liquid and Protein in after the surgery.
  22. All I can say is WOW! I'm sitting here looking at all of my surgery info and getting a little overwhelmed and trying to understand all of this liquid intake......then I see your post. You are so motivating and amazing. Thank you for you and have a fantastic time at your ball!
