    14 Weeks out

Seems like yesterday you and I had just started. Now we are more than half way to goal. I am loving my sleeve!

    No appetite at all.....

Barbara you are just a couple of weeks ahead of me. I'm in the same boat. I don't care if I ever eat again. I am mostly living on protein drinks and a little food. When I think about it I find it wonderful but baffling. Weight is coming off and I don't feel like I am dieting. What more can I ask for?

    14 Weeks out

    Woo hoo Barbara! Congrats!
  4. Tracy thank you! This is just what I need. I shared the link with a gluten free friend. She will love this too.
  5. Well yahoo! Congrats on the start of your new life.
  6. Woo hoo Kathy. I'll be thinking about you! Sleep well. Ernesto will be picking you up nice and early. Check in when you can.
  7. Its not strange to me. I felt crappy at the same BMI. I woke up tired, it was a struggle to get my socks on, tie my shoes or cut my toe nails. I had trouble keeping up with my walking buddies even though they are 10 & 15 years older then me. Just the 30 pounds gone has made a big difference. My quality of life was really suffering. Being blah and depressed all the time is not a good way to be. I also didn't have the motivation to start yet another diet. I kept trying but just couldn't mange to get started.

    1 day post op

    Hello new you! :001_rolleyes:
  9. I was self pay. My starting BMI was 35.8. Only high blood pressure that is well controlled on meds. I've lost 30 pounds in 2 months (today!). Not one regret. In fact I'm very happy. I'm losing weight without a struggle or feeling deprived. I'm 59 years old. Good luck!

    WLS and Seniors

I'm 59 and had sleeve surgery 6 weeks ago. I had no problems. I never took any pain meds once I was free of the hospital. I healed nicely too. I was kind of slow for a week or so after I got home but I bounced back. Once I could get enough Protein I was back to my normal self. I am not going to die like my mother! She was obese and had many co-morbidities. She was a mess the last 10 years of her life confined to a wheel chair for 5 of those years. I plan to LIVE as well as I can! She could have had bypass surgery in the 60s or 70s but noooo. She thought it a terrible thing to do. She made her choice and I made mine.
  11. I entered into the VSG world on Friday. :biggrin2: All went well. I was released yesterday morning. There was only one glitch. The chamomile tea gave me an asthma attack which required a couple of breathing treatments to get under control. I had awful dreams last night so did not get much rest. Hopefully tonight is better. I have almost no pain. Really just stiff and a tiny bit sore. The second day was awful but I expected that.

    Major disappointment

Same thing happened to me. So I took my fat a$$ to MX for a sleeve.
  13. Thanks for the info. Maybe I should have gone to NY instead of MX for surgery. There is real food right away. Boo hoo for me having a strict surgeon. This will be very useful when I get to the soft stuff.
  14. Stay warm Lan. My daughter lives upstate. I don't think they got as much as you did.
  15. Thank you so much for asking! I was just not feeling well very blah and weak. So this morning I made a slight unauthorized change in my menu. I drank a soy based shake. It was like a miracle. I feel so much better. I think the whey was disagreeing with me.
  16. Count me in the happy to have this bunch! I felt so darn good.
  17. HA! Barbara I started a week early too. I am so glad i got that ketosis headache blah feeling over with before surgery.
  18. Thank you! Now I am really ready. I may start packing tomorrow. How is your arm?
  19. Please let us know how flavorless the stuff is. I have the Bariatric Advantage brand Meal Replacement powder and hate it. The taste isn't too bad but its so thick I have all I can do to drink it pre-op. Even added to double the Water its thick and foamy. unjury unflavored is fine mixed with Crystal Lite. The Profect etc tubes are ok because they are a small amount. I bought some 50 gram Profect too. I only have to drink 1 1/2 ounces (half a tube) to get the 25 grams of Protein. They work out a lot cheaper too. I feel like I am almost prepared for surgery. All I think I need to get in are popsicles and more Jello. Thanks everyone for the tips and encouragement. Keep them coming.
  20. Barbara my Wal-Mart didn't have them either. Other people in my area have found them at other Wal-Marts. Try drug stores too. CVS carries Profect. I bet Walgreen's carries another brand but I haven't looked. Fry's grocery has them so another grocery might as well. Thanks I'll look for the Isopure at CVS. I haven't tried that yet.
  21. Thanks! I'll let you know when I hear about the Profect. Its pretty easy to find in different brands. It will be by the body building stuff in the pharmacy section. At least that is where i have found it. I like the unflavored unjury and have just ordered more. I'm supplementing with it now. I have the chicken Soup but haven't tried that yet.
  22. Hi Barbara! Wishing you a pain free trip home!
