The one thing I noticed is the consistancy vs the band. There are no loose days, tight days. Your tolerance to food volume will be pretty much the same. Once you get your head around that its pretty easy. I dont get stuffed any more if I overeat, I get uncomfotable. I can handle stuffed. Dont like this new feeling so I am careful what I eat. The sleeve works well.

Hey fellow sleevers and sleevettes. Lets remember. This is NOT easy. Its not easy to make the desicion, jump thru the hoops, fight with ins co and/or self pay. Its not easy to have the operation, nor is the recovery. Its not easy to go thru the post-op diet nor to be exhausted for weeks after. What it is is a sucessful way to loose weight. This has been more challenging then any diet I did. Thats because I could (and did) bail out when it got too tough. No bailing out on this. This is not for the weak. Its for those who know what they have to do to be sucessful. Its for winners!! Tom

I love my HNR800 before lap band, post lap band and now post sleeve. The rest of them am have always been so-so on them. Surgery has made a diff in some foods but not protine shakes.

They did not perform a leak test. They did send me home with a drain which I had for a week, Just had that removed Thursday, thank God. I can now wear normal clothes. I feel like I have been wearina a moo-moo for a week. There was a follow up after 1 week. Ny next appt is 1 month out, then 3 month, 6 month, 1 year anniversary then annually. Smart move going right for the VSG. I wish I had done the same. My wife has a friend getting a band in the next week or so. I would LOVE to tell her not to do it but she has her mind made up and I have to respect that. Keep in touch and let us know how you do. I am 10 days out, down 12 since surgery, back to work and feeling great.

Wednesday 3/10 was my date. Could not get much water down Thurs nor Friday. Took all day to get a 16oz bottle down. Finally today I seemed to open up. Drinking like a Kennedy today. On bottle #4. Dehydration will sure bluur your vision. Cant say I have had any hunger yet. I'm sure every day gets better..

Everything seens to be going as expected. VSTalk sure got me up to date before surgery. Moved on to full bariatric liquids today. thinking every day will be better then the last.

Hey Lynda, Congrats. I was slevved Tues 3/10 and came home yesterday. Just 1 night overnight. I had a band removed at the same time so it was a little more complex. I coudnt wait to get on the scale this AM. Guess what??? I gained 5 pounds!!! How funny is that? I'm sure there is a logical reason but I have no idea why.

I had my Lap band removed and sleved yesterday. Stayed overnight and am home now. would have been a rough ride home yesterday.

My luck just got better.. They are sending me home today..

I "had" mine done in Abington yesterday. Felt pretty lousey yesterday after surgery but had very comfortable night. Hope to get sprung out of here tomorrow. Good lucy at Temple. It's a great hospital. Are you having a band removed also?

Well the old band comes out tomorrow and I will be an official sleever. Looking forward to the journey. Wish the band worked but we just didn't get along. Hoping this is the answer. See ya on the other side. :thumbup:

Am I the only one that finds this peel down page obnoxious? They had it on LapBandTalk and it made me use it less as it is so east to trigger. Same thing here. BAN THE CRAZY OFFER TAB!!

Hey All, My insurance Co., Aetna Health Care has approved the cost of removing my band but NOT the sleeve revision. My Dr says he can perform the procedure at the same time. Price will be $8000 for hospital and $1736 for his fee. Total $9736. I asked about a discount as it seems my insurance company is already paying for hospital, surgeon, anthestiga, etc. They are telling me no because it is two different procedures even though performed in in the same operation. Has anybody else run into this?? I expect to cover the cost difference and I am sure there are some but this really sounds like I am being double dipped. If anyone else has had this situation what was your out of pocket expenses?

Looks like I will be revising one day sooner. On 2nd slip so as Harry Kalas used to say.. "its Out-A-Here". Looks like Band is treating you well though (or visa-versa)

Hey All, Looks like you have a great group here. I have been clicking the mouse all over this site. I have had a lap band for 30 months. 5'11" male 50 years old. I went from 325 to 270 the first year and have not had much use of the band since. It slipped after the first year. We unfilled, waited for it to unslip (it did) and then slowly refilled. It was a year before I got more restriction and picked up 20 pounds in the meantime. I have since lost the 20 again with the refill but now I have another slip and the band has to go. I am thinking VSG and being older and wiser I thought I would look at the complication forum and the groups that had the procedure done a few years ago and see how they are holding up. After all most everyone including me loved the band until time took its toll. If anyone out there has a few years experience with the VSG would you mind sharing your present feelings on it? Its decision time for me. Thanks
